druid trick

Griffons: snare and drones, run and med. Repeat drones. No fuss, no mess. 5 min. later "You gain experience!"

At lvl 31, a Griffon jumped me while i was medding. I got 40% of mana, I ran (with sow) and ensnared it. I casted Creeping Crud at it (Almost no resists) ran and med. When Creeping Crud ran out I recasted, when ensnare ran out I recasted. Just ran and med, and repeated the two steps above. Approximately 30 minutes later my first Griffon was dead!

Not that good xp, maybe 8 Griffons would give me a bouble. Almost no loot, just a few gold.

But later on I got a griffon eye, did the quest, and the quest gave me half a bbl of xp at lvl32.

I would be glad if someone could confirm that this tactic also works at lvl30? Or even at lvl29?

Any questions could be sent to Flix @ Cazic Thule

Works at 30 (druid), none of my spells were resisted. I agree though, the exp did kinda suck. Tell a melee class that you took out a griffon at lvl 30 and they'll think your a nut, it's actually pretty easy though. How many classes do you know that can kill griffons at lvl 30 and avocets at 24?

I am a lvl 29 druid and have attempted to kite 2 griffons, both times with success, but once i had to get a little help at the last sliver of HP because it started resisting every snare cast... both times i did get a griffon eye and the crafted vambraces quest is very good exp.

same tactic- snare, dot, run, med, an occasional terrify (spelling?) animal spell will give you some extra med time if it sticks. however this is a very long kite and the experience/time ratio is very low..

DD Kite
# Aug 03 2000 at 10:59 PM Rating: Decent
Griffons that con even or less are easy to snare and DD kite. I don't know why anyone would want to waste 10+ minutes DOT kiting an even Griff.

You are mistaken.
DOT killing them takes you less time overall because after DD kiting them you sit on your butt forever to meditate. (Actually only takes about 4-5 minutes to DOT kite them)

Also with DoT's, if they are resisted, you dont end up wasting 300 mana like a DD spell

I hunted griffons for a while to get the griffon eye. I was level 30 and compared to some of the things I have fought, the damage these do seemed relatively low. I had my druid friend with me to track, and also fear these. They seemed to be about level 33-34 (in north karanas anyway), as our level 29 friend was also able to cast on it.
After killing about 10 of these, I found an eye.
eye of griffon

are these the only type of griffon that drop the eye of griffon?
Griff's

I think we might be mistaken here?
I thought that Griffons where lvl 40+ and Griffins where around 33 - 37? I killed a Griffin that was yellow to me at 35. The HG lvl's sound right though.
can be charmed
# Jun 09 2000 at 12:23 PM Rating: Decent
yes griffs can be charmed using the Befriend/Charm/etc. line of spells that Druids have. I charmed one once on my way to a duel with a necro 1 level higher than me. Was for fun, but was quite amusing. After the charm broke, I just feared it and zoned since I was lom after the duel.

can griffons be charmed by druids?
yep
# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
Yep, Griffons are hostile. Also be careful when fighting them as other Griffons (and sometimes Griffennes) will jump in to assist.

Magic to hit?
# Feb 22 2000 at 1:10 PM Rating: Decent
Pretty sure that the Griffons take a magic weapon to hit... either that or they are immune to archery only. I've tackled a couple that were blue at level 35 only to have to drag them to guards because every shot missed. I stopped to slash one, got ripped for massive damage (big surprise I know.) Griffennes on the other hand get shredded by my bow with just regular arrows.
RE: Magic to hit?
# Nov 05 2000 at 8:31 AM Rating: Decent
Yeah, they are immune to normal weapons. It must be magical
Hitpoints?
# Feb 18 2000 at 10:20 AM Rating: Decent
So, how many hitpoints do they have? can a 34/35 druid kite em with any success?
