Varsoon the Undying spawns where Varsoon's original spawn point is, not where Varsoon is killed. He'll go off and attack basically anything and everything, but he is considerably higher level than most stuff in the zone so he will live for a while. As for despawning, sadly he turned on me and a riposte cut short my observation. lol

Outside of Blackburrow entrance in Qeynos Hills a gnoll was running to and fro real fast. I attacked him and the name Varsoon the Undying appeared in green as the secondary target for the gnoll.
I killed Varsoon today for the first time in a long while and Varsoon the Undying never appeared. Was Varsoon revamped so that his undead form no longer appears?
If you were me and I were you, would we still be friends?

He spawns when you kill Varsoon.
Killed him today. killed the loser that spawns after, and they both combined gave me 3 silver and nothing else in loot. Must be nerfed again.

Just killed Varsoon with 32 wiz he was dark blue thought he would be tougher based on posts here but he went down in 4 nukes like a good caster. Also interesting, when Varsoon the Undying spawned he took out the original guys pet for me so that was handy. Varsoon dropped the 10mana earring, Undying just some chance. He was hanging out by the GY at the time.
Well last night (Oct 31, 2002) I went to QH for the GM event. A GM had to be driving Varsoon. He did a LifeBurn on me for 3126.

last night i TP to SFG to get to Qeynos, checking tracking as usual I see him on the list dark blue.
I remeber he killed me once a year ago i decided to take revenge.
He was allredy in his UNDIYNG (tougher) version.
I am 34 Druid. So I put Droones of Doom on him and Shield of Brambles on myself (12 DS), and nuked him with Fury of the Air for 250 dmg ones.
His pet killed himself over my DS, Varsoon put Dooming Darkness and Boil Blood on me, and hit me for about 20-30, and ocasinal 72 dmg. Killed him at about 1/2 bub left. and 4 mana
Next time i will drop regeneration on myself to counter his DOTs effect.
he dropped a CRYKNIFE or something, dagger 5/21 magic

i had a runnin with this guy when i was about lvl 30. a mage who was lvl 20 and camping pyzjn shouted if anyone knew what he was for. i ran overthere conned him and he was blue to me so i figured i could take him. i asked the mage if he could take the pet while i took care of Varsoon.little did we know that when u kill him an undead and stronger version of him spawns. the mage said he could so we attacked and killed them i had about half my life left and the mage was oom. then the undead version spawns precedes to beat the ever lovin fudge outta me while the mage runs away to the bb zone screaming for his life.

During a gm event(not halloween) was running to halas, and this guy agroed me. I was lvl 45 or so he conned light blue to me, he resisted 3 or 4 of my spells, but not my pet =)took him down no prob, he dropped a GBS.

ok, you're jsut a ******. This guy does NOT drop the GBS and NEVER has. The GBS is VArsoons Heart which is carried by Pyzjn. IF you guys insist on posting at least make it accurate

i was walking happliey along with my monk then all of a sudden this great red thingy jumps at me from behind the ruins *blam* dead in 1hit. I then decided to take revenge got out my druid with was parked in bb and went to kick his ***. got 5adds earthquaked em all dead. went for varsoon hes a tough lil bugger feared me 5 or 6times then ditted and died, i was so damn happy i looted his corpse got a velvet coller, all of a sudden i was getting nuked outta my mind, stood up and lo and behold a big zombie trying to kill me, natuarlly i ran

49 druid at the time doing Qeynos badge of honor quest, Gate back after the SK part of quest & the sky was Black and all un-dead ( greenies ) and one named, I tracked him to the Tower near common zone..He attacked me, got me down to 3 bubs of life before he Died ( seems like they should change the name ) Varsoon the almost never dying..but at any rate he had the GBS which My enchanter still has in off hand. Nice little item, has the pulsing red hand thing goin on

Byrkan again, I know someone will write saying only the pysin( spelling ) person drops the GBS, which Ive been reading. when I was doing quest was the day after the Halloween events and Maybe thats why he had it. I dunno. But I wouldnt have been campin an INT item
This guy looks like a normal zombie, but trust me, he doesnt hit like one =)

Im new to the game, only two weeks old. I was camping the bb entrance with my lvl 7 HUM Wiz for scouts and the next thing I know Im dead. Being new I thought I was PvP since it was a name not a monster. I noted the time though, 2 AM. After a week I figured out it was an NPC that got me but still didnt know who because I died so fast! Thanks to this site I am now REALLY paranoid of this guy<g>

I don't know about the +5 hp crystal or if it has any other uses, but a +5 hp item is not very valuable in itself unless it does something else. I bough 2 +5 hp earrings from a merchant once and it only cost me like 4.5 PP for the pair of them. I have heard however that the Undying version often drops a gold earring good for +3 Int or something like that. I don't have any characters high enough to camp him yet, so I can't say for sure. Has anyone out there gotten this earring drop?

In a few of my many attempts to get a GBS from pyzjn i have killed varsoon the undying a few times and have seen atleast 3 of the earrings drop, they are +3 INT. These are the only loot i have ever seen on him honestly. =)

I think you are talking about the golden ear stud obtained from a quest in quenos
You go near the firepride place and near the bridge is a man named Zamel. Hail him and hell tell u of a girl(lucia) who went into the sewers. the water under the bridge leads to the sewers she has been eaten by Cubert, a gelatinous cube. He usually spawns at location 160, -60. Kill Cubert and get her dress and return for experience, faction, money and a decent item, sometimes a Golden Ear Stud, which gives +3 int. You can get Cubert to spawn faster by killing the rats and gelatinous cubes that spawn in his place

I killed varsoon (4th time) and his Undying version (4th time). This last time it drops a Quartz Crystal. Secondary slot all/all +5 hp. Anyone know what this is for? It must be pretty rare.

they aint that rare they drop often off of ee's in the gorge.. just something else to destroy

I think if you type out "Hail Master Varsoon" rather than Hail Varsoon, he may not attack you. Try it. I hailed Pyzjn once. She referred to him as Master Varsoon. Also said something about Master Bruax... Anyone have any idea who bruax is?

Bruax is Bruax Gregnar - he's a Necro Trainer in the Qey Sewers

It is listed under the heading 'Could there be a quest?' Which you have to scroll down a bit to get to.
Type 'Hail Master Varsoon' and he will still attack you... I tried it earlier today when I was camping Pyzjn (that idiot Varsoon popped 3 times in 4 hours).

Just got killed by the wretch. Popped about 10pm whilst camping Pysjn on xegony. I dismissed summoned on his pet twice and got it down to half (148 each!). He is way underconned as most necros and sks are.
Oh well corpse run tomorrow.

on my Barb shaman i was wonderen in a group mindin my on beeezwax then i saw varrsoon i went up to him thin he sent his dread corpse pet on me i was as mad as a hornet cause i was a wolf and he turned me back into a barbarian! i'm gonna leave qeynos and go to freeport sothe freak of nature will leAve me be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is what I don't get. Why would the creaters and designers put such a high lvl killing machine into a newbie zone? I don't get it. Currently I'm camping the ruins for the GBS but not in the ruins more up on a hill away from it. I've came in contact with him once. I was a lvl 5 pally just minding my own business when this guy runs to the zone with Varsoon the live form and his pet behind him. Well stupid me though that the guy was an idiot for taking a fight to the death and running, but what I didn't know what it wasn't a PC player but a realy nasty. So i followed and hailed him when he turns and kills me with one hit. Now I can't wait for the day when I whoop his butt and make him grovel at my feet.

Varsoon is there to make the camp of Pyzjn a bit more dangerous.
Varsoon can only spawn in the ruins, but you need to be clearing the ruins to make Pyzjn spawn.
The living Varsoon was 28 last I killed him and the undead Varsoon was 32.
The undead pop right where the living is killed, so be prepared.
He is a necro in both living and undead form, but he is not unconned. He is just a necro and a necro is a true solo artist, which is why he is so dangerous.

Im not sure, but i think varsoon is neccesary if you want Pyzjin to drop the GBS, when Pyzjin spawns ive heard taht varsoon will meet her and give her something that he calls, his "black heart" or someting like that. I think this is what needs to happen if you want pyzjin to drop the GBS. but hey, i could be/probably am wrong :)

I saw the old, non dead Varsoon, and, being an idiot, I hailed him, and, instead of him hailing me back, he turns and hits me fir 82 damage. I did the natural thing in that situation, I ran, so he stood back and rooted me, feared me, and backstabbed me. well, being a paladin, I live for ever. the choloblast helps too =) and I finally get to the guard tower, and they dont even glance at me. I shout for help, but no one answers or runs to my aid, so I die there. I hope he killed the dumb guards. well,that's my story.

If NPC's without shields can bash, and lvl 5 NPC's can do double attack, why cant an NPC necro backstab? He doesnt even need a weapon to do such a thing :)

Ive been backstabbed by just about every critter in Norrath at one time or another. To say they cant backstab simply because he is a necro is just plain silly. He is not a player, he is an NPC. They play by different rules. Heck they dont even need a weapon to backstab. Which kind of scares me to think what they are doin behind me to backstab me with.

some chars are crosses as u know the new beastlord thing is a cross so he can backstab like chanda miller can and she is a renger/rogue
