I play on the server Solusek Ro, and at lvl 31 I decided to get the earring (guild raid in kedge keep... let friends use). Well, I picked a weekend and waited for him to spawn. He spawns, woohoo, so i harmonize the other 2 ppl (Rephas and Axe) snare him, and just in time, some lvl 53 shaman pops in, heaves a nuke at him, and wipes him out. I report this to a GM- they basically take a dump in my shoes. So I wait for his second pop. Within half an hour of his spawn, I have 6, count them, 6 ppl above lvl 50 waiting for his spawn. Of course as soon as he spawns i press the hotkey i made to snare him, I got snare in and luckily the wizard that was there killed rephas and axe, unluckily it was an AE and killed hadden too. both times earring dropped, and both times the GM's said they couldn't do anything about it. This is a very hard person to camp unless you've got a lot of patience.

i have been camping him since a wrote the first post, never seen it so far, i been camping him the whole time. Is he triggered by something or he really spawn each 5-6 hours, or maybe he despawn or he been killed while i was AFK :( will try to get him again after school.

The reason for many poster's frustration is because you, and many people in the game, are doing the spawn wrong. He is a timed 6 hour spawn, therefore you are not really supposed to sit there for 6 hours or more. He is meant to be checked every so often.
Due to his 6 hourness he is also pretty much free for all. So even if you sit there for six hours someone might pop in and kill him.
If you do the spawn right, you come by and check and see him up or don't see him up and then leave. I got the fishbone earring 2 days ago doing that. Its best to do in the wee odd hours. I got it 3 times previous to that doing the spawn the same way.
No wonder it frustrates you when you sit there doing nothing for six hours and either someone else comes in and kills him with one nuke before you have a chance to, or you kill him after six hours and no FBE.
I also got jboots for two twinks doing the ac spawn in oot the same way, once I got the ac in four spawns of running around the zone with no one else there. Another time I logged in near the spawn after the server went up and the Ac was up.
I did the same thing as Natsuko did. I bound myself near by and every now and then, I checked back. On my second day, he was up. Casted conflag, took him down to about 1/5 health. Then finished him off with another conflag. Overkill but that didn't concern me.
He dropped the FBE! An excellent item for getting your swimming skill up. Just went to the moat in felwithe near the zone to Gfay. Bought myself extra food and water, turned off all channels, eg auction, ooc etc. push my autorun key while swimming and went to bed. I'm now 200 at swimming (granted, this was from 185 swimming).
Lending it to my friend tonight, so he can max out his swimming too :)

Yep, I agree this camp is a total crock. It's one thing to get on a waiting list for a camp and then wait so many hours for a spawn and loot your treasure, but this thing it totally rediculous.
They should either make the earring always drop, or decrease his spawn time considerably. I was there for 30 minutes and about 10 different people came by wanting the camp.

It's not exactly 5 hours 30 minutes -- it varies from between 5 hours to 5 1/2 hours. I know this painfully well.

One thing you can try (that worked well for me) is try to get Rephas to chase you to the Karanas zone line. It took him 12 or 13 hours to come back, that made it very easy to pull Hadden without either harmonizing, lull, or worrying about adds.
Hadden himself was a cupcake when I fought him at 35; I guess if you regularly solo whites Hadden shouldn't be too different but he probably undercons (the named ones always do).

No. Rephas (Hadden's friend) will just Charm you. He was hitting me for 50+ at lvl 40 and I have 800+ AC. =) But I got the earring, and sold it for 3.8k.

I'm kind of new at everquest, a ranger of the 35th season, so my 2 day long hadden camp was really the first of its kind for me.
I got to Qeynos late Fri evening and waited 2 hours before I saw my first Hadden spawn. I knew the general vicinity of his pop, but I guess it took me by surprise. As I'm casting harmony on Rephas (and preparing to cast on Axe even though he's conning green), a wizard (red, anonymous) gates in and puts him down with a single nuke. Ouchie! I send the guy a tell, "Dude! You bound nearby I guess?". He responds, "I am camping Hadden." I reply "Funny, I've been here 2 hours and I haven't seen you or your name in the /who lists I've been doing." With that, he loots the corpse and says "are sorry, he only had small box." Not sure about that, but that was my first hadden spawn. Killed him twice that night without incident, the zone was pretty quiet. Every now and then a level 50ish uncamps, sees me and recamps. There was one 54 enchanter who tried to scare me away after my 3rd pop: "I don't think you can take him friend." Hadden never hit me for better than 50 at lvl 35 and rarely for better than 20. My rogue friend assisted the whole next day, even got Rephas to chase her to the Karanas zone line and I'll be damned if he didn't come back all day long. Made jumping on Hadden real easy.
Ultimately, however, when sleep prevailed sometime around 4:30 Suday morning, I was still without a fishbone earring. You know, I think I could loot the 2.5k they charge on my server in the amount of time it would take to get one from Hadden.
I sure hope that stinky wizard didn't get one either though.

I finally got the earring! I logged on at around 9 in the morning, he spawned at 2:35pm, I killed him, no earring. Add 5 (hours) to 2:35pm and you'll figure out that he was going to spawn at 7:00 even, BUT since it can be from 5 to 6+ hours, I added 1 hour just in case, so it turned out to be 8:00 (give or take 15mins). I stayed on camping him the whole day, practicing Conjuration and Tracking. Finally he spawned at 8:05. Killed him, got the earring. VERY boring wait, but WELL worth it!
Oh BTW, I'm a 40 Ranger, and NO, his little caster friend and his pet didn't help Hadden when I was attacking him, neither did the guy in the grey hut help.

Rephas won't help if he's green to you, which he must be at level 40. Axe Broadsmith is also green at a much lower level, so he wouldn't help either.

I believe it depends on your faction if his buddies help him or not, if he is a green con.
Can a lvl 40 Ranger solo this guy to get the earring? Man I want one bad, but I heard he has a friend that backs him up named Rephas, he has a pet and charms. That's what makes me not so sure about doing this. Has anyone had any problems with his caster friend?

hadden spawns just about every 6 hours and drops the earring 1 outta 3 times..he hits pretty hard!

This is rather simple of a camp, other then waitin for him to show =/. just wait till he spawns then if you are a 50+ or what not one spell or arrow will pull him without aggro from other, i did it myself till the earring dropped, took 8 hours but it worked

He says oops sry .(yeah guess he didnt see me standing right in front of haden casting)So needless to say when he casted his spell it aggroed that other dude with the pet. I didnt notice it was him and kept trying to kill haden. Of course now the morons just standing there watching. The caster dude commences to kick the crap outta my 36 ranger. All the time this idiots jsut standing there. Well I killed haden but I also died and lost a lvl. I was bound in halas and by the time i got back he had looted and left saying no earing dropped of course. Yeah, I did reoprt him but the stupid GM's never do squat so he got away with it. Be very carefull right about the time he spawns all the KS'ING scumbags tend to show up then. LONG BORING SPAWN> Bout every 5 and a half to 6 hours he spawns and he's easy to kill if ya harmony the others.

I camped him with my 41 wizard friend and got the earing 3 pops in a row, Hadden has a drop rate of 1/6 I hear, so we got very lucky. His spawn is less than 6 hours, though not sure how much less.

let this just be a warning to those who think this item is cool...so does everyone else, especially the guy who is walking by and notices a person who is green to him trying to camp hadden. the first time i tried to camp him i was ksed by a high lvl druid who had made the area his bind spot and decided i didnt matter. the next time i killed him and got nothing...a total of 11 hours wasted. since then ive killed him twice and been ksed twice, never getting the earring...so you have been warned, dont go there unless you want to be ksed or are 60th lvl and are the kser, since that is apparently how it works...thanks eq 8)

Maybe on your server, I camped hadden 60 hours and got the earing ont the 10th kill. About 7 high lvl players were bound there and checked with me each time they logged in. They were all helpful and gave advice each time. Never had a single ks. The time i got the earing i was killed by hadden first, all the other npc joined in as i pulled him the wrong way, they charmed my pet so i had 4 beating on me. when i came back and retrieved my corpse hadden was standing their fishing and i killed him without and problem and he had the earing. Maybe the key is to let him fish first?

Verant has stated that the loot something spawns with is the only loot it has unless a PC gives it an item.

When I mention forming an alliance, I am not above telling someone interested in camping Hadden when the next spawn is due.
I have this item timed very well. If I get the drop, I am not too selfish to send a tell to someone with the next spawn time and wait for them to arrive. This is what I mean by alliance.
In addition, I don't think my guild would lie to me. We are very tight. That was the 1 in 32 drop which seems to have been improved.

It's me again, the advice guy :) You're right, guildmates would be perfect to lock Hadden's spawn down with. I however used to do this camp before I was guilded. It was quite interesting seeing 3 or 4 casters appear 1/2 hour or 15 minutes before every pop. Most of them were like you and very nice about the camp, just coming in to get Hadden's time of death at the very least... I was only KSed once all the times I did the camp by a high-level necro. But I started a log when i zoned in 3 hours before, did a who showing who was there, showed me attacking Hadden first, then his cast, etc, etc... Needless to say he was reported. Funny cuz the next pop time he showed up again but didn't KS :)
Anyway, that's off subject. My advice is for the loner or the non-guilded players. It may not be a good idea to trust people who show up there and want to jump into a Hadden rotation with you. I showed up late for the pop time once and a druid was there. She promptly killed Hadden and ran up to me very excited that she just got the fishbone on her first try. I congratulated her of course, but inside I knew I had killed Hadden the four previous times with nothing...bah. So there you go, a fine example of letting someone else get one of his spawns...he'll probably drop it for them :)

The fact of the matter is that Hadden is routinely farmed by high-level people. Most of the time it is casters getting the spawn timed, gating back at pop time, killing Hadden, then porting back to whereever they are currently grouped or leveling... If the fishbone earring drops many players are not going to tell you because they want to come back and farm it again! It's a very easy, safe camp to get a 3K item to drop at, especially if you get it timed! At any rate, the drop rate seems to be on average about 1 in 6 from what I have seen. I have also seen it drop twice in a row, just depends on your luck :)

The nice Ranger that stated one in 3 pops, WRONG. I dominated camp for over 48hrs and Nada. Was beginning to thing that FBE had been nerfed.
Also formed alliance with others trying to camp spawn. Out of a total 31 kills, we have 2 drops.
June 28th, 6:02 am and 10 Hadden kills later, I am pround owner of an FBE.
Good luck. It DOES still pop!

I have killed Hadden several times and have experienced no major changes in faction. My Faction with Qeynos merchants is very high because of all the gnolls, undead and corrupt guards I've killed.
I have 4 FBE lootings. It drops 1 in 3 times.
Here is how to kill him safely. First of all a level 30 Druid can kill him. I was level 35 ranger the first time I solo'd him. Cast Harmony on Rephas first, then Axe Broadsmith. Wade across the water to the western shoreline and cast a snare. Once snared, turn right and run to the southern end of the lake, where you will see Hadden swimming towards you. Continue kiting him to the south. There is a long valley there and no chance of being seen by Guard Nash or Guard Leopold....WHO WILL attack if they see you. He hits pretty hard folks....85 point punches...so keep your distance......
The spawn is indeed 5hr 45 mins average. Immediately following a major patch..Hadden will be standing at his place, although not guaranteed to have the earring. Ive seen several players camp there for that reason and likewise Druid commonly put a gate.
