You say, 'Hail, Hadden'

Hadden says, 'Hello there, traveler. I hope you weren't planning on doing any fishing here. They don't seem to be biting much lately. What few fish I do happen to catch, I usually sell to my merchant friends in Qeynos. It ain't much, but it's a living.'

Qeynos?
# Feb 22 2002 at 2:02 PM Rating: Default
Why is this Dork on Qeynos faction, he is a barbarian? Isn't there some kind of Halas faction? Since he is on Qeynos faction, I won't kill him. I couldn't give a flip about Halas factions.

For all of u dumb people out there. Hadden is a barbarian. his brother is Faffen, they live in a boat. they fish sometimes but not too often. His hobby is getting killed by people. he likes to dance and sing. but mostly fishing.

Hadden Camp Drop Rate Changed (data)
# Feb 15 2002 at 1:28 PM Rating: Excellent
I've been camping Hadden for the fishbone earring (allows unlimited underwater time) in Qhills for 7 days now on Tholuxe Palles. The drop rate has changed from what it used to be (1 in 3) to random. The person before me said she killed Hadden 14 times in a row before a drop. After camping him for 7 days, I believe her. My data follows:

Time of kill:

8:39am
2:14pm
7:52pm
camp stolen (according to the PC, no drop)
6:15pm
11:54pm
camp stolen (according to the PC, no drop)
4:37pm
10:04pm
3:37am
9:19am
3:03pm
8:34pm
2:15am
7:54am
1:34pm
Servers came down for emergency patch
7:47pm
1:26am
servers came down for 6 hours
Camp taken when servers came up, one kill one drop by shaman at 12:32
6:12pm My first drop of the earring
------------
At this point I decided to continue to hold the camp with a friend so she could get one as well and we could go to Kedge.
------------
11:37pm
Got tired and forgot to record the next few kills
12:07pm
5:33pm
11:11pm

At this point I quit taking data. We've killed him about 4 more times and no drop yet.

Here are the times between deaths for Hadden for those instances where I killed him 2 times consecutively:

5:35
5:38
5:39
5:27
5:33
5:42
5:44
5:31
5:41
5:39
5:40
5:39
5:26
5:37

So... to summarize... This camp isn't worth doing any more. 14 kills before 1st drop, 16 kills until next drop, no kills until final drop. The spawn is between 5:25 and 5:50. 16X5.5 = 88hrs real time. To have a random drop on a spawn that takes so long....

Just do the quest on the moon to get an object that lets you breath underwater. I post this so you can be warned. Hadden is no longer an easy way to get an EB device
coin flip...
# Feb 12 2002 at 1:44 PM Rating: Default
was looking for something with EB and came here...sorry about my bad english...(english is my 3rd language)...im back to the coin flips now...=) everyone is wrong...well not everyone maybe...didnt have the power to read all the damn coin posts...but heres ther real math...

1:st flip = 50/50
2:nd flip =less then 50/50 to one side, depends on what side it lands on and what it lands on...if you flip it on the ground theres the possibility that dirt will stick on the coin and the side that didnt land on the ground lose weight against the ground-touching part...

well, just to make it sure to whoever read this post, yes, it was made like a joke...tho its realy true...coz if you flip the coin those 1000 times and always lands on one side theres a slight possability that something will stick to that side...if you say that you will wash it after every flip the math is that theres always 50/50 chance to land on tail...

why do always a sandwitch land with teh butter to the floor, weight???????

muhahaha...

Actually the answer to your buttered beard question is Hieght not Weight. It has been proven that if you take the same piece of buttered beard and drop it off a six (6) foot step ladder instead of your kitchen counter it will land buttered side up. The counter top just isnt high enough for the beard to make a complete flip.

Moral of this is we should all have six foot high counters in our kitchens.

Hadden Exploit
# Feb 11 2002 at 12:44 AM Rating: Default
I discovered an exploit for the Hadden camp.

While I was camping Hadden. A caster who will not be named, slapped Rephas. Then stood behind me until he got charmed. Then he nuked me, killed me, and took the camp from me.

Evidently this is a common exploit.

GM said they allow this exploit, because you can't prove it's done on purpose.

Despawn time?
# Feb 07 2002 at 7:36 AM Rating: Decent
I realise it is very rare he does spawn and have time to despawn but that happened to me this morning, was running around with my newbie ranger and caught him on tracking, I was the only person in zone so I quickly switched to my druid to catch Hadden in hopes of surprising a friend who has been camping him off and on for a few mths now, sadly in the min it took me to switch chars he had despawned, I raced all over zone checking my tracking and he was indeed gone. Enough to make me cry (was still the only person in zone). Does he actually despawn or did soemone manage to log in and nuke him within the minute it took me to switch chars? (/giggle at least now I know when he'll spawn next)

I snared and bow kited with the occasional ignite. When he got to 1/4 health and i was LOM i meleed him to death. He hits in the 60's and put a whopping on me, but i survived with a bub and a half health and got an earring. Dumb Luck i guess.

Leave me alone!
# Jan 20 2002 at 3:37 AM Rating: Excellent
My name is Hadden.

All I want to do is fish at my little river by my little fishing village.

But every time I come out to fish (every 6 hours or so) someone comes up and kills me.

As you can imagine, it's quite annoying.

Sometimes, I win the battle, but then I get a message that I can't even loot the corpse!

I think its all about this stupid earring I wear because I think it is fashionable.

I call myself a fisherman, but have yet to catch a single fish in my entire life, because sometimes I forget to bring my fishing pole with me, but usually because somebody comes and stabs me.

So, please, stop killing me.

Sincerely,
Hadden

Ok.. Hadden is really pissing me off.. I have killed him 7 times now and still NOTHING but crap.. he doesn't even drop his fishing pole, just silver and copper and occasionally a rune or words. One thing that that I have gotten out of this is that his spawn time varies. I have tracked the last 17 spawns and here they are.. Times are listed in order, and show time between deaths:

5:32
5:40
5:44
5:51
5:18
5:49
5:44
5:46
5:43
5:22
5:45
5:29
5:49
5:30
5:49

Note- all these figures are based upon times that have been witnessed by Bitten and myself.

Hope this helps. Don't use this to KS me :)

Well all.. I finally got it.. the 14 time was the charm.. That's right-- I killed his dumb *** 14 times before he finally dropped the earring. So, I am wondering: Do I just have super bad luck, or did verant change the drop rate from the 1 in 3 to something rarer? Because the odds of going 0 for 13 is right around .5% (based upon 1 in 3).

Time zone does not matter, neither does AM or PM.. The list reflects the time between spawns. For example: If hadden dies at 3 o'clock, you can expect him to pop somewhere between 8:15 and 8:45.

i camped this guy from approx 2 in the morning until 7:20, when he popped on a Sunday night (school was cancelled due to school, thank goodness). He dropped easily, since i'm a 40 druid, but no earring. Faction hits were: Worse: Antonius Bayle, Coalition of Tradefolk, and Qeynos Guards. Unseen Hands got better. i logged back on, around 12:15 in the afternoon, and he popped at 12:40, so THIS PUTS THE SPAWN TIME AROUND 5 hrs & 20 min. This time he dropped the earring. It doesn't show an enduring breath icon on the screen, but works like a charm. i hope that this helps everyone & that you are as lucky as i was.

OK, how many of you people have graduated from the 8th grade or the equivilant?
Cause by then you aughta know that even if he has a 33% chance to drop the earing, he could spawn an infinite number of times without droping it. It's like if you rolled a six sided die five times without getting a six the next roll does not have to be a six. it's still one in six that you will get a six.
RE: drop rates
# Jan 07 2002 at 3:25 PM Rating: Default
I don't mean to flame you, but before you question peoples education you should check your own work.

33% is not 1 in 6; it's 2 in 6 or 1 in 3.
RE: drop rates
# Jan 31 2002 at 11:31 AM Rating: Decent

The 33% referred to other people's guess at the earring drop rate. The dice example was seperate. He didn't confuse the two, you just need to read more carefully. His points were correct.

RE: drop rates
# Jan 07 2002 at 4:02 AM Rating: Default
Maybe you should review your course in mathematical statistics and probabilties. If you flip a coin once, the probability it will land on heads is 50%. If it turns up tails and continues to turn up tails, the probability that it will turn up heads still increases. You're right though... it's not rocket science. Pick up a book and read it before you make the rude remarks. The only one that looks like a fool here is you.
RE: drop rates
# Jan 07 2002 at 6:42 AM Rating: Decent
The probability that the NEXT roll will be heads is still 50%
RE: drop rates
# Jan 07 2002 at 3:27 PM Rating: Default
Acctually it's not. Law of probability says you have a 33% chance of getting heads agian, or 1 in 3 :)

By your logic the chances of having a coin land on heads 50 times in a row is 50/50 wich is not true.

No.

Logically, the probability of any one coin flip is not affected by what the coin has done before. The probability of any one coin flip is 1 in 2. The coin does not say, "oh, I came up tails last time, I should have a better chance of turning up heads this time." It's always 1 in 2.

If the coin has come up heads 49 straight times already, the chance that it will come up heads on the 50th flip is still 1 in 2.
RE: drop rates
# Jan 11 2002 at 9:59 PM Rating: Decent
Technically, the chance that a coin flip will turn up heads is ALWAYS 50%. BUT, there is a lesser chance that you will get heads 50 times in a row, simply because there is a tails that also has a 50% porbability to turn up. Actually, the chances of gettng heads 50 times in a row is 2 to the 50th power, or 1 in 1,125,899,906,842,624 (or 1 quadrillion, 125 trillion, 899 billion, 906 milion, 842 thousand 624) if any of you wish, you may check my math.

RE: drop rates

You guys should really pick a book on statistics and read it well. A coin flip will ALWAYS have a 50/50 chance of giving heads or tails, even if you flipped it 1000 times already and got 1000 heads. What you don't seem to know is that there's a difference between 'a priori' and 'a posteriori' probability. True, the chances of getting 100 heads in a row are slim BEFORE beginning to flip. But if you have ALREADY got 99 heads then the chances of getting 100 heads in a row are 50%. There's no way that previous flips can have an effect on subsequent flips. Unless you believe that some mysterious force will actually manifest and guide the coin so it turns on a specific side. And then how far back this entity should look? Should it consider all the flips you did in yuor life? Just today? Since last Christmas? Get a clue and a book on statistics.

RE: drop rates
# Jan 21 2002 at 1:00 PM Rating: Default
You guys are all nuts. because a coin for some wild *** chance could land on it's side.
So, it is not a 1 out of 2, it then becomes a 1 in 3 chance that it could land on heads , tails or on it's side.

Just my comments.
As for Hadden, it's a computer program that does all the work. The programmer could of put it in to drop on the 1 spawn, the 10 after that, then 5 after that. So who knows. You would actually have to get a fair amount of ppl involved to find out what the pattern is. Yes they could of put in a roll of the dice kind of logic. But, i have found that this is not true in EQ. They put in patterns, so that you can try and figure them out, thus causing spawning.

To the dude that said theres a 1 in 3 chance of of the coin landing on its side:
Actually thats not quite right, the surface area of the side is way smaller than that of the flat surfaces of the coin, so the chance is gonna be alot smaller. That is of course assuming its even possible for a coin to land like that, with its momentum considered 8P

Hadden pops, and he jumps up starts to cast thinking he's gonna KS me, and bam, he burns his mana on my pet, i give him the finger (/finger) and start running circles around him w/ hadden as my pet. Being the stupid wannabe KS he continues to burn all his mana up on my pet doing no damage, he then says WTF, so i drop charm, poor moron is out of mana, and i drop hadden right in front of him. No earring, but still that KS learned not to mess w/ this bard.
