To get the Fabled Pyzjn to spawn all the time, you need to hold the Quartz Crystal (from Varsoon the Undying) in your hand. Also, you must have a Greater Lightstone in order to guide her. Greater Lightstone for the strongest results. Not sure if you need the lightstone to help VtU hold the crystal for you to loot. I never got that far except that I had it on anyway, equiped.
Fabled Glowing Black Stone does drop all the time but not the regular one (non-fabled). It will though.
Pzyjn just needs dread corpse bones is all. She is a uncommon or so.. not rare but she spawns only at night. Varsoon too. They are more rare (Varsoon and Varsoon the Undieing). Please keep in mind that you will not see her spawn some nights. I do not know the drop rate of the Glowing Black Stone.
Kill everything at about 4pm to 6pm. Best is probably 5pm as I like it. Just so you can get some extra Dread Corpses to spawn. Kill all the regular animals too for the dreads. Don't worry about anything during the day though. Night ends at 6am.
Hope this helps. *waves
Remember ::: No Looting. Just keep the dreads abroad.
I tried following Pyzjn and she would walk back to where her spawn point was away from the ruins, and then path back. No text or anything. Now that I know Varsoon shares the same spawn, just a waiting game...
It basically boils down to 20 spawn chances per EQ night (10 EQ hours = 30 minutes, 3 minutes per spawn, two spawns)
Pyzjin says, 'Hail, ________. Pyzjin is working for Master Varsoon. If Pyzjin do good work then maybe Master Varsoon tell Master Bruax he is worthy. Pyzjin must go now. All glory to the Plaguebringe![sic] May you die a painful, oozing death.'
upon attacking, or getting aggro:
Pyzjin says, 'Hmm. You offend Pyzjin. Your death come soon. Hail, Bertoxxulous!'
Stand on the west side of the ruins and look to the west. At 7pm game time, Skeletons of various types start to spawn and walk toward ruins. Kill them all, she will spawn. Worked for me, very simple. Ignore all the other trash. These skeletons who spawn to the west and walk to ruins are the only PH.
Any spawn that walks to the ruins is a PH, not just the skeletons. It can also be mangy rats, bears, beetles, or other MOBs. Her spawn cycle was detailed by a Sony employee on the official forums back in 2008.
The topic is now down, but you can view the archived version here: http://web.archive.org/web/20090217073412/http://forums.station.sony.com/eq/posts/list.m?topic_id=143508, or just look a few posts down on this page.
Was a topic about a year ago called "now that it doesn't matter". Had a Dev spilling the secrets of the old world like the chance of an AC spawning (including spawn %'s).
These are from that post (page 3, here http://forums.station.sony.com/eq/posts/list.m?topic_id=143508 )
There are two spawns in Qeynos Hills that can appear as Pyzjn. Their respawn time is 3 minutes.
These NPCs wander the zone. NPCs on these spawns are supposed to despawn at 7am / 9pm, presumably so they will respawn as the correct day or night version. Note that the night in EverQuest is 10 hours long and the day is 14 hours long, making it a little more difficult to find NPCs that only pop at night.
I was reading through all the pages of BS here and almost dropped my coffee cup when I saw a poster here cut & pasting my spolier from maximumeq.com 7 years ago. To *his* credit...he did give me credit as the original author and not that other BS "spoiler" author. I am not sure if it stills works or not, it did perfectly way back in the day, but I doubt Sony took time to change anything =P
As a side note...it is funny how you can tell people *exactly* how to do this and they just ignore it and keep asking how and others post utter BS about it.
****REPOST FROM DEC. 2000 ON THIS THREAD****
I hope that subject line got everyone's attention. =) To make a long story a tad shorter, I ran across a post on Maximumeq.com about a method for getting Pyzjn to spawn, and it was soon followed by ALOT of posts thanking and applauding Shogun (who unfolded this mystery). I personally haven't been able to do this because I am on a crowded server and it's impossible to do without interruption. So I'm doing the next best thing.. I want this method KNOWN, I want MORE GBS's on the market making the price drop, and in turn making a GBS get into my inventory very soon. =) I'm copying and pasting his post here. Take a look, go out and try it, and for God sakes SPREAD THE WORD! Good luck! -----------------------------------------------------------------------OK...HERE IS THE SCOOP!!!!!
I will tell you HOW to make Pyzjn spawn (and, yes, I've done this 50 times+) but I cannot tell you HOW to make the GBS drop. It appears to me and my comrades that it is a rare drop to the tune of 8-12% of the time. I make no FIRM claim to the GBS drop, however, and can only tell you how to make Pyzjn spawn.
First, let's dispel rumors: Tovax (or pet), Varsoon (or the Undying), Scruffy, Niclauss, The Millers, Holly, Cros, ANY of the guards, ANY of the gnolls (named or otherwise), etc. have NOTHING to do with getting Pyzjn to spawn. NADA...ZIPPO...ZERO...NOTHING! Please note, however, I CANNOT say the same for Pyzjn actually carrying the GBS...I just got her to spawn alot going on the theory she would eventually drop the GBS...this seemed to work although I never recognized any specific pattern. I FEEL that the above possible placeholders DO NOT exist for the GBS either though. Pyzjn has an ANTI-placeholder of sort but more on that later...
Second, YES...she only spawns at night. If she is not killed, she CAN be seen in the day, however.
Third, I documented 5 different spawn points (there may be more)...one at the Ruins, one close to the Ruins towards Black Burrow, one over the hill between the lake and the Ruins, one contiguous to the lake and one in between Surefall Glade and the Ruins. Pyzjn spawns, immediately summons a skeleton and walks to the Ruins. I have seen her killed many times by crossing paths with a guard or other wondering NPC's while others are up at the Ruins waiting for her to show never the wiser about what just took place.
Fourth, Pyzjn IS on a random table generator, so you cannot get her to spawn INSTANTEOUSLY. However, even though she IS random, following the method below you WILL ALMOST ALWAYS get her to spawn every night. My record is 3 times in ONE night. 5 or 6 times (when I was just figuring this out), she didn't spawn at all in a particular night (I may have missed her though - more on that later). I personally use the term "night" to mean 6pm to 6am - though this is not 100% accurate (most spawns seem to occur for me between 10pm-3am, by the way).
Fifth, having a tracker is an IMMENSE help. Do not underestimate this.
OK...here we go...
The main goal is to leave ALMOST all the dread corpse(s) alone at the Ruins. I say ALMOST all because there is ONE spot in the MIDDLE of the Ruins that you wanna keep clear ALL THE TIME. And, that's the spot that Pyzjn walks to...ANYTHING that spawns here (the middle spot) - kill it or she will NEVER spawn. Usually I find this to be a dread corpse or mangy rat that walks up and stops there. Kill everything else (that's not a dread) WITHOUT pulling the dread corpse(s).
After MONTHS of doing this, I have noticed that my best spawn rates are attained if I kill everything EXCEPT for dreads around the Ruins as well. Imagine a 50 yard radius bubble around the middle of the Ruins...kill everyhting except the dreads in the imaginary bubble.
If you have 3-4 dreads untouched at the Ruins and the MIDDLE spot clear all you have to do is wait...she will spawn shortly. Having a tracker is VERY important because she can spawn and be killed by an NPC or another player and you'll never now about it...Usually, I pay a level 3-12 ranger 15pp to track one night for me (they'll nearly cut their throat trying to please you).
Sounds easy, right? WRONG! First, you'll find that others are your worst enemy and, secondly, you really need to be a spell caster or use a bow to pull the putrids, skelies, rats, bears, wolves, etc. without also pulling the dreads. I'm a caster.
People will flat out ignore your pleas and jump right into the middle of the dreads ruining your odds of spawning Pyzjn. What amazes me though is how they insist they know what they're doing and how dumb you are...it is truly maddening.
***Keeping others away from the dreads is BY FAR the hardest part of getting Pyzjn to spawn***
I said earlier that Pyzjn is on a random table generator. You CAN kill everything in sight, kill all the aforementioned FALSE placeholders and she MAY still spawn. Statistically speaking, though, I can guarantee you a TEN FOLD (and possibly more) chance of spawning Pyzjn using the above method.
I'm sorry for the the LONG answer to this, but I wanted to dispel alot of the garbage out there about this spawn.
I've solved this PIECE of the puzzle for us...NOW can someone who is in the know enlighten me/us on getting her to drop the GBS? Again, I suspect that is just a rare drop, but even validation of that fact would put alot of minds (mine included) more at ease.
Thought I would add a little more detail to the pyzjn spawn. First this guide is accurate and will work to get the little necro to spawn. Back when I started in Feb 2000 I became obsessed with getting a GBS for my young lvl 13 Wizard.
Spawn: There have been some changes to this spawn in the past couple of years, but the guide still works(will explain the change later). The additional detail is that pyzjn's spawn table works on a 12 minute timer(roughly). So if you see something in the middle of the ruins, kill it, wait 12 minutes and you will see something else walk to the center. There are many spawn points and the spawn walks to the center of the ruins. The spawned creature is random, at night it will be night time creatures ie all types of skellies mangy rats, and during the day it will be regular type rats, bears and bats. On this spawn table you also have Pyzjn and Varsoon. It is true Pyzjn only spawns at night and Varsoon can spawn anytime.
GBS drop rate: I don't know the exact percentage, but it used to be easy to know when the GBS would drop. The servers, at least used to be, taken down for maintanence every Tuesday night. So from Sunday night to Monday night at least one GBS would drop sometimes two, depending on how much people were killing the spawns. So for a while I was picking up a GBS about once a week.
The change: Sometime in the past couple years they added two more identical spawn tables. This is way you hear of people find up to 3 pyzjn's standing at the ruins at the same time. I'm sure they did it just to increase the drop rate of the GBS.
Tip for Wizards: Sense Summon, a low level spell, was my best friend. I could beat even rangers at times for finding her. It would point you right at her pet, if she was up, or varsoon's pet. Otherwise it always pointed you at Rephas's pet.
Just for fun: Sometimes Tovax will walk up somewhere by the ruins, stop for a minute, drop a note on the ground and run back to his normal route to the south. You can take the note and give it to someone in the Temple of life for a little exp. Or try taking it to S'ragg in the qeynos catacombs and watch what happens, its hilarious and well worth the trouble.
I was extremely skeptical of this post at first. I used to camp Pyzjn all the time and never saw a single GBS. But an hour ago, I read this post and decided to give it a shot. Pyzjn spawned within 45 minutes and dropped the GBS. Good hunting!
Alright, i'm a level 51 monk working on my epic. After camping at the ruins for well over an hour, and nightfall came, I noticed that 'Varsoon' had spawned. I immediately hopped on here to see what he's for. Then Varsoon the Undying spawned. It wasn't long after that that the first Pyzjn spawned. I got all excited and quickly killed her in a swift kick. When she didn't drop the black stone, I got quite disappointed and just continued killing stuff. Seconds later, another Pyzjn spawned with a GBS!
I drop by the skelly ruins every now and then w/ my ranger and spend a little time there. For the past week, I've checked a couple times every game nite. As best I can tell she almost always spawns well after nightfall, most often between the hours of midnite and five AM. I've had her spawn as late a six and as early as eleven PM. The time she spawned at eleven, she respawned again at midnite. No GBS yet, and in these days of ubar gear, I doubt that it's worth the effort to kill her. A side benefit is that occaisionally Hadden will be up and I'll get his nifty Fishbone Earring. Hopefully someday I'll nab Pyzjin's GBS, then I'm moving on to N. Ro to hunt the elusive mummy Rahotep and take his Scepter away from him.
Something else you should be aware of is that Varsoon also spawns on occasion and is much higher level than Pyzjn. Even if you can handle Varsoon, you must then be prepared to deal with his zombie form, Varsoon the Undying, who is around 10 levels higher than the living Varsoon and who pops immediately on the death of Varsoon and makes a beeline for whoever killed him to get revenge.

If you were me and I were you, would we still be friends?
I have been camping this gnomer for over 4 years now, and just within the last couple of months i finally got my GBS. For a 67 chanter, it is no more than a nostalgia piece, but as such, is priceless to me. i can't tell you how many rusty daggers i've seen her drop...
For you new to camping her, there is a lot to know. If you read back into the old posts, back when the GBS was a fairly uber piece, you'll find some very in-depth discussions of spawn patterns. However, it's simpler, tho not quite as effective, to just kill indiscriminately. My tactic lately was to clear every moving mob within eyesight of the ridge to the west of the ruins. If you can't manage this, you will need to continually clear the mobs that STOP roaming in the center of the ruins, at the end of the fallen post. you will know this point because during the day, it will be the only place that has bears, wolves, or rats standing still within the ruins. there are a good number of PH's for Pzyjn, and all stop at this same spot. by clearing them at this point, you will slow down the cycles, because the wanderers take a fair bit of time to arrive from their various spawn points, but you won't have to kill every mob in the north end of the zone. It is, or at least, was, possible to have several Pzyjn's spawned at the same time... once i took down no less than 3 Pzyjns with one AoE nuke. (3 rusty daggers, of course).
For those of you about to try this task, i wish you the best of luck, but must warn you that in this point of the game, you might well spend years on and off at this camp for an item that was outdated long long ago.
Q: Why do people make strange theories about mob pathing and such?
A: They can't accept bad luck
Note: Pyzjn spawns in the ruins. That's it. No pathing, no voodoo, no mumbo jumbo. Kill the mobs in the ruin that don't roam (Pyzjn doesn't roam.. make sense?)
Note 2: If you don't see a rare mob spawn whenever you please OMG don't make up these aweful pathing kill Bob the magic mob at 8pm stories.. I actually see people trying this garbage in game and it takes forever trying to UN-Explain your fixation of excuses as to why some mob didn't spawn for you.
Cheers

wrong, pyzjn sometimes spawns out in the zone and walks to the ruins. ive seen this scores of times. ive camped her for a total of 12 stones since 1999.
I am happy to say that I got one of those lucky "runs into Pyzjin one day and bham! dropped the Loot" encounters with her, though this was also long past her glory-years. Never camped her though.
The stone still sold rather well at the bazaar, but I am thinking because it has twinking value. Funny to see two markets exist alongside eachother in the Bazaar: the current, high-end market with lots of OoW stuff, high end crafted stuff and what not; and the Twink-market with goods that have no level requirement or recommendation. Both are equally over-priced, I might say. :)
And then there is the third market, consisting of a bucketload of mediocre items that nobody wants to buy becuase of the level-restrictions.
Oh, and the 4th market, that consists of tradeskill ingredients, which is the most interesting one, imo.
OK, I have camped Pyzjn often enough now that I know the pattern. I mentioned in an earlier post a flat rocky place between the Millers fire and the ruins. From that point a steady stream of mangy rats spawn and head over to the ruins. Keep killing these! Before long the mangy rats will stop spawning and dread corpses will start. Keep killing the dread corpses as they appear. After the dread corpses stop spawning, and if it is still night, then the elusive Pyzjn will spawn.
Another strategy I have used to get Pyzjn to spawn is to simply kill everything that comes even remotely close to the ruins. Bats, rats, skels, snakes, bears, EVERYTHING. Doing this, I have had Pyzjn spawn elsewhere besides near the Millers fire. She actually approaches the ruins from a direction that is off slightly to the right if you are looking towards Blackburrow from the Ruins. Unfortunately, when she approaches from this direction, you have to get to her before Niclauss Ressin and Holly Windstalker do. I have camped the ruins many times and on one occasion got her to spawn no less than 9 times in a row without fail using these methods.

Yeah I used to think about camping her and stuff and every time I see her up I get excited. Just a bummer how all the cool rare spawns that dropped nice stuff just slowly become more and more useless.
For the first time in the whole of my 4 years of playing I finally run into QH find this little garden gnome on track, go nuke her with a lvl 49 spell, ok totally unnecessary I know but it was the only thing up at the time, and after me getting all giddy and excited she drops a rusty dagger.........
Just came from Jaggedpine on my way to POK for some C3 and Temp and came into QH from Surefall. She was up on track and no one in the zone so I figured what the heck. It was about 3 or 4 PM game time and she was just west of the hill west of the ruins standing there. Killed her and Nic Ressin (sp) took care of the pet for me, glad he didn't help with her cause she dropped the dagger and stone. Like I said lucky I guess.
If your an evil race/class(Im a human Shadowknight) she tells you shes working for Master Varsoon and if she does good work perhaps Master Varsoon will let Master Bruax know about it. Im curious to find out what happens if Pyzjn and Varsoon are up at the same time, or what happens when you ask Varsoon about Pyzjn or Bruax. Hope to find out more on this storyline soon.
Another thought is to take the note Tovax Vmar supposively drops to Bruax or Varsoon .
Well I've gotten her to spawn twice for me today. She did not drop the GBS however. I can safely say that the ph is a dread corpse, and she will only spawn at night. I have track so every time I kill something I click on it to see if Pyzjn is on it. And the only two times shes been on it was after I killed a dread corpse. The time is also a factor. Both times were after 12am.
Now most of you are wondering if Varsoon has anything to do with her spawn. I'm not sure but I have had him spawn on me to. The human version is the ph for Varsoon the undying, who is higher level, still con db to me at lvl 40. Now I've gotten the human version of Varsoon to spawn every time I've killed a purtrid skeleton. He only spawned once on me after I killed a Purtird Skelly so I cannot confirm this. The human version is weaker, con green to me. He also only spawned at night but it was before 12am. I think game time is the key factor here. Hope this helps and I'll try to post more info when I decide to camp here again.

Pyzjn's spawn is no mystery, kids. Ampere posted the spoiler many moons ago which is still valid to this day. There have been some changes in what mobs haunt QHills, but the spawn table / times have not changed:
[link=/db/npc.html?id=3763&p=4#m10062660096828]Ampere's Original Spoiler[/link]
There's nothing else to know. Charm the PH, go fishing, then kill it at the right time. Easy.
I just wanted to let you know that I used the information from Ampere's Original Spoiler to get her to spawn and it worked! She spawned twice in less than an hour, I killed her the first time but no GBS. Unfortunately, I wasn't quick enough on the draw the second time and while my Shock of Poison spell was still casting, she walked to the center of the ruins and instantly despawned. Little wench probably had the GBS on her that time too. Not sure if the sudden despawn is a result of forcing her to make an appearance or what but I guarantee it won't happen again. I WILL have my GBS!
