Oops, my bad, that this was Raster, hehe, i meant idol too =) but can anyone answer the question?

It is multiquestable and Raster is way more rare than Targin. I spent 4 hours in the king room and he popped, then he disappeared, but he was still there. He was either sneaking or hiding (how he did that as a monk, I don't know). He attacked the cleric, then stopped, we were looking all over for him but some 20 minutes later, I saw half of him in the wal and jumped him as fast as I could. He lasted about 10 seconds before I looted the Code.

maybe because monks get sneak?

Monks do get sneak, but they dont get hide. So how he ended up invisible is beyond me...
#Anonymous, Posted: Sep 13 2001 at 1:30 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) To answer your question, No, bothe the idol and the code of Zan Fi are restricted to a Monk only quest for the Robe. I certainly hope your friend was a Monk and could benefit from looting this item, as I have attempted to get in on this highly camped idividual with little luck thus far.

Any one who says they got to King room and is lvl 47 down is full of it. I had to run for my life . And feigning sucks ,you have to feign take 2 steps and feign again. and no way you can hold that room on your own , no way.
The Rock

My group of a 39 cleric a 40 sk a 40 necro a 45 monk and myself at level 42 at the time just pulled him as well as two Solusek Kobalds and killed them all with no trouble. He was the easiest of the bunch and the first to fall infact. And once we convinced the loot happy 39 cleric that she shouldnt take the book, our monk had her component
Spawn Rate?
# Mar 28 2001 at 10:11 AM Rating: Default
Does anyone know this guys spawn rate? Is he terribly rare?
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 04 2001 at 6:28 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) For all of you who say he hits for thousands.. for those who couldnt tell there being retarded Targin the Rock is an annoying spawn but he's on par with a low spawn kobald. He's retardedly easy, i guess maybe because I am a monk and NPC monks always seem easier vs another monk then another melee class. He's green to me (I'm 48) most the Kobalds are green to me.. good luck.
Not as hard as I expected

Today I got the Zan Fi. There were 3 spawns today. One at 6am the other at 9pm then again at 11:00pm. Couldn't believe it when I saw him. It is a rare spawn, so keep at it, just stay in the "king room" grp. Becarful with those monks who will take Targin, it almost happened to me.

Another cool thing about this drop is that the zone is close. It is not so hard to get to the "king room". When you are in the king room, you control three rooms. Only the first room, does the Targin appear. The first room is not the room you fight the mobs.

What lvl would you have to be to camp the room this guy spawns in? Im a lvl 30 monk, and if im gonna have to camp for a long time for this guy I might as well get exp while im camping.

You would need to get yourself into a KPC group (King/Priest/Champion), but chances are you're far too low to be taken by a KPC group.

A 30 monk in KPC would be a Cleric nightmare.

Don't bother trying to solo if you're not level 36 yet.
If you plan on soloing him, make sure he /con's blue first.
Hit him with a dispel second.
Have a way to root him (Permafrost net works).
Make sure your flying kick is maxed, or have a couple of batons and have 1HB maxed too.
Start at full health and having mend available.
Bring healing, haste, sow, and invis potions - the last two if you have to chase or get caught in a bad place at low health.
If you're less than level 36, and you ask nicely, folks might let you loot him before he decays. He's a favorite for experience hunters.

#Anonymous, Posted: May 05 2001 at 10:01 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) OK, First things first i went their with my 38 monk he got wasted so i decided to bring in my 48 warrior he wasted the whole room. The King was up Targin was and a shammy was up i run in der and bashed dem all happy to say didnt even go into berserker frenzy in other words this guy is a pushover even with a healer and the king

You're full of it.

Targin pops in the same place that the King does, on the throne, therefore you couldn't have fought them both at the same time.
RE: For monks -

Clearly you must have been dreaming. A lvl 48 warrior would not take king, Targin AND a healertype alone. EVEN if you had the best equipment available. Your HP would go down to quick.

This post is quite useless, I'm lvl 40 at the moment and I soloed Targin some days ago, soloing this guy at lvl 36 is almost impossible except you're major twinked and got a hell of good luck. Invis and SoW potions are useless ,as written in the another reply SoW doesn't work in dungeons and why should I spend money on Invis potions when I'm able to feign death? Healing potions don't make a lot of sense too as they stun (at least the ones I used till this time) you a few secs after using and these few secs can mean death with an annoying corpse run. This guy almost wasted me, he hit for 90's and pretty fast, luckily some nice guys that camped the king (thanks again bros you really rule!) healed and assisted me. Oh you don't need a dispel too except you're breaking the full spawn in this room (then you'll dispel the buffs the shammies fitted him out with).
I'd say, get lvl 45 or higher and beat the crap out of him, at this level you also showed that you reached something and you're worthy of the robe, all these lvl 30 monk twinks in RotLC with a Wu Stick and a KD really make me sick.

A few things:
1) sow potions don't work in dungeons, so use it outside, but even then it's likely to wear off before you ever see this guy.
2) Don't bother with invis potions, everything in Sol B sees through invis.
3) if anything, try getting a hold of a damage shield potion.
4) You're more than likely NOT going to be soloing him because the King room is usually camped 90% of the time during primetime hours. So just get in the group or if the group is full, ask if you can just hunt with them or if they can let you loot the book.
#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 09 2000 at 2:36 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Thanks for the information. Im going there today to get a group on the Nameless. Hopefully I can get a group where I can fight him because I have this thing to kill enemy monks. As in skel monks in Unrest. Thats always fun. Well, no matter what, Targin's going down by my fist whether he likes it or not.
OUCH

Blah this guy can be killed. You gotta be noble birth(twinked) of course. Get a fungi tunic, Druid's Regrowth. Fd pull this guy out solo him to death easy =). Room ain't hard too, i can take the room without named mobs at 46.
