Easy Money

Im a 31 Ranger (Human, started in Shurefall) and I still hunt these guys for easy cash...make @50-70pp per hour. the house and hill camps are best, fast spawns, and dont forget the top of the hill above the camp...farther in there are more castors and fewer sashes it seems.
Raiders = bandits
# May 10 2002 at 12:23 PM Rating: Default
There are raider camps in N Karana and S Karana. They are just bandits with a different name. They drop the same items and same amounts of money, and the sashes they drop can be turned in to the Paladin guy in Qeynos.

Even better, they're isolated camps and if they con green you can pull all day and the others won't interfere. I can usually make about 20-40pp per hour with my lvl 24 druid. The camp in S Karana spawns quickly enough that you can usually kill all or most of them and they'll start to respawn before you're done (assuming you need a little time to med/heal in between kills or groups of kills).

While camping the bandits in West Karana for cash to raise my trade skills (smithing 148!) I made it a point to deal my most righteous damage to the Half-elven caster bandits as they were a pain at lower levels. Now... the females are druids and the males are wizards. Correct me if I'm wrong but in terms of playable race/class combos, half-elven wizards are not a possibility last I checked. Though they certainly exist and still manage to do a little damage to a 22 pally. Quite unusual...

Oh, and a question for anyone that may know... Supposing a Dark Elf Shadowknight wanted to become non-KOS to the Qeynos guards... is this even possible? If so, any estimate on how many of these that SK would have to slaughter?

Yep, it's very possible. My DE, an Innoruuk-worshipping mage, is allied to both the Paladin's Guild and the Qeynos Guards. As to how many? Several hundred to get to dubious and then you can start turning in sashes, and the rest of the way is a lot easier.

at 21, and low hitpoints, they and the farmers(at bandit farm) would gang up on me, and any time a caster bandit was there, they'd aggro me, but I think a 24 druid should be no prob w/ em.... PS I hate caster bandits!!

I think they stopped ganging up at 20 if I remember correctly. At 19 some will gang up (the higher level casters typically), as I found out the hard way last night.

Anyone who needs info on the bandits should scroll down to the end of this thread and read Rithlander's post. He's done really well with the info.

Here's a bit more. The Male Half Elf is a level 15 Wizard, not a Druid. The Female Half Elf is a level 12 Druid, and the Human male bandits can also backstab, if my memory serves me.

If the bandits con green to you, you still need to be careful of the casters. If you attack a bandit within aggro range of a caster, the caster will attack, and the wizards always come in pairs...

Lastly, the farmhouse near the corrupt guards has anywhere from 4 to 6 bandits at it, even though you may only see one or two. This is a spawn point for bandits on the hill. They'll run N/NE to the base of the hill, them they head E up to the camp, and then on into the hills.

The good thing with killing the bandits, is that it raises your faction with the rogues guild in Qeynos, that killing gnolls in BB lowered.

Hope this helps. Good Luck and good hunting !

I'd say it would be better to just group in Highpass and kill orcs. Collect the scalps, and when you can get up to dubious with the guards, turn them into Captain Ashlan at the first "checkpoint" from the camp for money, some exp, and even more faction! This got me all the way up to indifferent. Now just for those guards and merchants in the Keep...hmmm...

These little guys are great for rasing a few hundred plat in a night...

At 20 or so, as a caster, I could take an entire camp. Every 3rd or fourth drops a Bandit Sash. Keep them!

After your full, take your plunder to Queynos and turn in for the sash quest. 4 at a time gets you a few plat, and four Bronze weaps, about 2-5 pp ea.

Also, these guys drop bronze as well.

Awesome all around:)

First, The bandits in GFay are not level 9-12. My 7 half elf warrior was in their camp in gfay and they conned amiable and they were even and blue to me. Oh, yeah, the location of their camp in GFay is around -1400, +2500. Thanks!

My level 11 wizard has been hunting solo in West Karana for a while, and has always
been careful to avoid the bandit camps. One day he passed one by and curiosity
got the better of him. He parked a short distance away and cast Eye of Zomm. The
remote eye sneaked into the camp and spied upon a brigand before the spell faded.
When the wizard regained his perspective, he saw a group of figures running toward
him from the camp, and faster than he could say "oh ****" they were upon him!

Needless to say, he was hopelessly outgunned and outnumbered, so he initiated
the wizard escape sequence: Shadow Step, then Gate. He arrived back at his
bind point in South Qeynos with only a bubble of health to spare. He learned a
valuable lesson that day: don't mess with the bandits. Period!

I was takin the long way to freeport and i come across a bandit and it cons blue to me at 15. I figure ill take it real quick and then be on my way. First thing the SOB does is root me but i kick his ***** Im sittin there waitin for the root to wear off and all of a sudden it says ive been backstabbed for 52 damage. Just then the root wears off and i turn around to see 5 more bandits... and u guessed it i got my **** handed to me on a platter. What is the moral you ask?
1: dont turn your back on bandits
2: check the bandit camp before u kill one

Hope this helps

An Invisible Bandid Nearly Killed Me!
# Nov 20 2001 at 5:47 PM Rating: Decent
I had my Lv 11 Bard hunting in WK, and I decided to go solo after the Farmhouse of Bandits. I used lament on the one visible bandit and pulled the Farmer with a shirikin. I got the Farmer plus a bandit I didn't see. OK.. no prob if I twist fight songs and heal at the same time. I back away, but not far enough. When lament wore off, here came the other bandit.

Oops.. crank Selos and run to QH zone. OK, turn around and zone right back into WK. There is my bandit train heading back home, with a human fighter type in the rear, carrying a rapier. Pulled him with another shirikin. Got him by himself and proceeded to pound on him. Switched to third person view to watch for adds. No problem. Then I start seeing "Bandit Punches you" messages. Twist healing song with fight song and kill bandit. No other bandit in sight. Run to zone singing healing song and watching my health drop as the invisible bandit wacks on me. Zone with 1/2 bubble of health. OUCH! Waited a moment, zoned back into WK and went to loot dead bandit. No sign of other bandit.

WTF? Invisible bandits who punch and stay invisble?
RE: An Invisible Bandid Nearly Killed Me!
# Dec 19 2001 at 1:24 AM Rating: Default
I have an answer to that. I was chased by bandits train once back to Qhills zone. I had a sow so I outrun them. Before zoning I stopped and turned - no one in sight, of course they run much slower than me. So i decided to see haw exactly far away they are (I have allredy turn around the mountan). I go back to the straight road - NO ONE THERE!
5 second later:
Bandit punches you!
Bandit backstabs you!

So I zone to Qeynos Hills
wait some time..
Zone back and I see 2 people being whacked by invisable bandits. So we zone again.

Here is teh answer: once you loose direct sight of them they swith to SNIAK mode(they are rogues by class) hence you can no longer see them!

Whats more dangerous that once they go into sneak mode their invisability doesn't fall untill they kill you/you zone and they return all way back to farm.

I can't say about bandits, since I've done most of my playing as either an iksar monk or necromancer in Kunark, but in the Field of Bone on Kunark, it's annoyingly common for monsters to somehow fall "through the world" (particularly if fighting near a wall), and end up far below the ground. Since mobs ignore Z-axis, it can still hit you, even though you can't hit it, and it's far enough away from you that the guards will ignore it--you have to zone.

A funny story--recently a friend of mine went LD, and when he logged back on, _he_ was under the field of bone. As he looked around, there was half a dozen mobs under there with him, just hanging out under the world (no doubt using up useful spawn PHs).
RE: An Invisible Bandid Nearly Killed Me!

I can second the "falling below the surface" thing. It happened to me in Velious. It was kinda cool if not eery. I explored for a while, saw some Shardwurms, stuck like me, explored some more. I looked up and I could see the contours of the Shardwurm caves,....from underneath them,...that was cool. Anyway, I eventually got bored (since I couldn't solo the Shardwurms stuck down there with me) and called a GM who showed up immediately and got me out. BTW my z axis coordinate was Neg 10000. Soory this isn't about Bandits but thought hey, it's all fun.

The lowdown on the bandits...
I've killed so many bandits that my faction can't get any lower with them and my faction with Qeynos,Karrana residents, highpass and circle of unseen hands can't get any higher.
I started soloing them as a 12 bard-pretty tricky
as there can be as many as 2 druids and 2 wizards spawned, which could easily kill a 20 warrior. There are 8 spawns of bandits in WK that I know of..usually in 6's. The human bandits(the ones in brown leather) are the best as they are the easiest to kill, drop sashes, bronze weps(rapiers sell for 4pp with good faction, shortened spears for 2.5pp, spears for 3pp, and maingauges for 1.5).The casters are a total pain in the butt, the female druids DS the others with thorns, and the male wizards DS the others with fire-these damage shields really make a BIG difference in a fight, they NEVER drop sashes or bronze and 2 of them are a tough fight for anyone below 20.The barbarian bandits are a litle higher than the human ones, they drop occasional bronze longswords or wooden shields and never sashes. The brigands are really a lot tougher-you will still get xp for them at lvl 24, they drop occasional sashes and bronze longswords. Any of these can drop cash ranging from 0 to 3 gold. Also killing loads of bandits is a great way to gather food and drink and also get your alco tolerence up as they regularly drop bottles of kalish and short ale-just drink them as they drop and u go up 1 skill point almost every time.Once you have your sashes collected head back to S Qeynos...I regularly go to Chesgard with 40 sashes, you can get as much as 20 gold and a bronze mace which sell for 3pp, or as little as 5 gold and a shield which sells for 1.5 pp. So in effect it is actually possible to get 10pp from a 1 lvl 12 bandit!!!, the average loot per bandit is more like 2-4pp however. Anyway I still farm these at lvl 30 and make 300pp quickly and easily in a few hours. Most people should not try soloing camps until your late teens as they will all aggro you and they have a massive aggro range when your killing one of their comrades. I noticed than the casters would still aggro me until I was 22, and the brigands STILL kos me at lvl 30!!
All the bandits are very aggressive and will attack anything under lvl 15 that wanders past(including wisps which they can strangely punch to death with their bare hands)
NOTE: new players be warned-the guards will not help you against bandits.
Anyway, happy looting.

I have been camping bandits in West Karana for a couple days (great cash for the sashes). Anyway, I have noticed that when I come up on a group of 5 that haven't been camped in a while, there is a super invisible caster that hangs out with them. I have 'see invisible' on, but as soon as I harmony the group and pull 1, another male caster just shows up and starts beating on me. I recount everyone and now there are 6. Anyone else seen this? Can anyone explain it?

I lvled to 10 lvled to 11 in EC came back all conned green except for rare spawn blue to me, but then I didn't play for a few days come back and they have the teal blue (lower lvl blue I guess) on now and the bandits are conning that teal blue and blue to me? I use to take all three on to get woood elf meat, but now they kick my butt.
