Note: For all map points of nameds in Fear Itself (for "thuledream.txt" map files), see this quest entry.

The Nightmare of Thule spawns from roaming PHs outside the ring of fire (northern side). It hits for a max ~11,500 and has an aura-based damage effect called "Nightmare Inferno".

This was the last named mob out of 28 that I needed to complete the Hunter achievement for Fear Itself. I accomplished this by binding myself in the zone and just gating in periodically, clicking TRACKING and killing any nameds I found had spawned. This was a workable strategy until the last two I needed, Irak Attil and Nightmare of Thule. I cleared Irak's PHers about 4x with no luck. Then after a patch I gated in to find him up.

Nightmare of Thule, I had to clear the "a fearful nightmare" PHers 5x before he spawned.

I'm always intrigued by how named mobs spawn. During the week or so it took me to do this, I gated into Fear Itself dozens of times and almost never found any other players. Yet nameds would be up who had not been up when I visited an hour or two earlier. I very much doubt anyone had passed thru, cleared PHers, and then took off without waiting on the named to pop. This isn't a very popular or useful zone in the current era. It seems to me that EQ does sometimes spontaneously pop named mobs. Otherwise I would never have killed all 28 of these nameds since I wouldn't have the patience to keep clearing all their green and LB placeholders waiting for the nameds to show.

On the other hand, the two Nightmare zones in House of Thule, Al'Kabor's Nightmare and Miragul's Nightmare, seem to the opposite situation. I've only found 6 nameds already up from the 24 required to complete both those Hunter achievements. I've passed thru both zones at the same time I was visiting Fear Itself. So it seems those nameds don't just "pop" on their own and clearing PHers will be required, something I'm not looking forward to.

I believe some named who go off ph's are on a script to despawn after a while. Then the spawn script of course goes through its percentage chance of spawning the named.

However you might check /uptime and see how long the zone has been up, it's possible the server was restarted or the zone crashed and came back up.

Not sure what it was called, but this mob has a constant-damage aura of some type. The damage seems negligible but will eat weaker pets if not kept in check. Casts no other spells, but this thing whacked me for 10,558 damage on a solid hit (6500ac, max defensive AAs). Dropped "Mark of the Nightmare of Thule." Spawned from one of the three "a fearful nightmare" around the north end of the Ring of Fire. Very easy to pull in conjunction with the Wraith of a Shissar and Shakare camp.

Killed this mob a few times seemed to spawn from the horse that travels along the outside of the fire ring every time may be it's only PH but there is two other spawns near that one but the named failed to spawn from the other PH's if it does have a chance at spawning from them. Dropped Ambiguous Remnant of Greed, Ambiguous Remnant of Fear, Glowing Dream Fragment and Nightmare Flame Band and the spear the other 2x which is already listed.
