This mob spawns at +30, +47, -140. He'll stand there for about five minutes and then path Southwestward and eventually come to a rest at +50, +386, -130 (amongst the brew barrels).
It took me 165 spawns to get 3 casks. I saw 20 gnoll brewers, 145 gnoll guardsman, and 0 master brewers. I also killed about 10 spawns before I started keeping track, which were all guardsmen. I saw brewers on spawn number 4, 7, 8, 29, 38, 49, 51, 55 (cask), 69, 92, 93 (cask), 109, 134, 138, 142, 145, 146, 147, 161, and 165 (cask). Spawn rates are between 13.5 minutes and 17.5 minutes usually. And yes, the brewer/guard spawns around -32,-32 and then wanders over to the barrels after maybe 10 minutes. They do eventually wander back to the water as well. I also posted this information on the quest link.

Spawn by the pool has had 2 brewers and 1 master brewer neither dropped the cask regular brewer dropped the skin along with one elite. I've been on my 68 druid with tracking and have been keeping this area pretty clean. However, Master Brewer did drop the mammoth skin. Hope this helps anyone doing this very frustrating. Spawn rate is ridiculous.
His respawn is around: 18 minutes (seemed like 17 minutes 50 seconds or so, but could have been slightly off.)
He spawns at: POS 40, POS 45
After a few minutes he walks over to the barrels.
The best way to get the materials is to kill the elites up top for their skin, and then run outside and kill the 2 pups for theirs while you wait for the brewer to spawn.
I was walking thr BB on 11druid cause i just died so was gonna kill some DB to hit 12 again but i saw him and i noticed i never saw b4 he was white at 11 i owned his *** and got cask. lol guess im lucky
I have been camping him for several weeks. When he does spawn he has yet to drop the cask. The Gnoll Guardsmen that is supposed to be his ph seems somehow incorrect. I've watched the guardsmen pop by the water many times and killed him on his pop spot but no brewer popped, even after multiple kills. Then I let the Gnoll Guardsmen path up to the barrels and killed him there but no Brewer spawned. On other nights I've seen the brewer spawn multiple times on about a 10 minute interval without me killing a placeholder. I think this quest is now bugged.

Yes, got him today at (50, 385) -- this is underneath the elite ledge, in between the barrels. He dropped the cask container. The PH seems to be about a 6 hour spawn time, very long. The Master Brewer might also spawn here. There is another gnoll beside those barrels with a normal respawn time, but that is not the spot where the brewer spawns.
I tried camping the spot at (32, 32) beside the pool where they say he can spawn but never found anything but placeholders there (18 min respawn time) after several days camping. Maybe I was just unlucky.
When you descend into Blackburrow, after crossing the wooden bridge and facing the water, turn left. There is always a gnoll of some sort standing on a small outcropping, and behind it a bit, another gnoll, usually scawney.
This is the placeholder, if it isn't the brewer. It is a completely random, but rare, spawn. I have killed the Guardsman that I saw there, had a brewer spawn 10 minutes later, followed immediately 10 minutes later by another brewer. This was while I was alone in Blackburrow. Neither brewer had a cask, and of the dozen times I've killed a brewer, only once did one have a cask. So be prepared for a long, painful camp.
Truth - HAS ANYONE EVER SEEN THE MASTER GNOLL BREWER REFERED TO IN THE THREADS LINKED TO THIS SITE - I have been camping this loc for the better part of 2 weeks - many dead brewers no cask yet
The cask is used in the Burrning Rapier (7/20 5agi 5dex 37dmg fire proc) quest for rogues. The ph is a gnoll guard. Spawns close to the bridge and is a rare spawn.

I have been around BB for several days (about 2 hours RL time a day) camping next to the 32,32 spot. I have killed many gnoll guardman and after 4 or 5 in a row i got one brewer without cask. Last nite i was bored of camping so i decided to move around a get some xp. I killed the elites in the balcony up the 5 barrels, the Split gnoll and i try with a friend to kill the commander and the elites with him, we couldnt, so we have to run to the zone and somebody else did it. So after coming back the zone i went back to the 32,32 and there was a brewer with cask.
I really think that helps to pop a brewer if you kill the commander and/or the Splitone and/or the elites in the balcony.
Hope to confirm it tonite. Be safe.

Why would anyone pay that much for these. I mean the Cloak is nice for the quest that I see these casks are for, but 750pp per Cask, The Cloak ain't that good.
I camped the spawn spot by the Water edge and under the elite ledge. I never saw the master Brewer and I was there for 6 days on an average of 18 hours RL time a day.
I never saw the Master Brewer I was level 12 when I started this camping I was 15 when I finished it. I killed 46 Gnoll Brewers and got two casks total, finally a very nice high level Woodelf Druid came by and gave me a cask just for my perseverance.
I can tell you the Gnoll Brewer spawn site (just down from the rock with my characters Butt print imbeddd on it) does spawn about every 15-20 minutes with a guardsman or occasionally with the Brewer. However it helps if you have a ranger character go down and walk over the spawn site the lower level the better as by the time I made 15 I couldn't get a brewer to spawn for nothing yet my lvl 11 Ranger friend could almost get one after the other just by walking by the site. It also seems to make a difference when Gnasher is killed. After several hours of no Brewer I went and killed gnasher and sure enough had Brewers spawning again in no time.
It was a long quest but alot of fun derailing trains and watchign the general mayhem from my relative safty of the rock.. and I had some good company while doing it.
