I sat at -514, -702 (sw corner of middle island) and just killed every mob that pathed near. Eventually he showed on bard track and I tracked and killed him by the orc camp in the eastern part of the zone.

On the middle island I killed him at -268, -1177, 5

Also caught him stopping, in the water, just west of Praklion of the Cauldron.

Bilge Farfathom is one hard Aqua Goblin to kill. The difficulty lies in getting him to spawn and then catching him before he gets killed by Sigan Ilbirkun. His place holders seem to be all the roamers swimming around Dagnor's Cauldron, and he also appears to spawns from various points. As soon as Bilge spawns he casts Spirit of the wolf on himself and makes a bee line run straight to his death. If he spawns on the far side of the island you have 2 minutes tops before he is killed. I hunted him alone with my 80th level Ranger and it took me nearly 60 hours over 8 days to finally spot him on track. My total kill count to get him to spawn was 7843 grey mobs. I can only see about 1/3 of the mobs in the zone with my tracking of 330, so it is entirely possible that he spawned and got himself killed more than once without me seeing him. If you had a team of three rangers splitting up the zone you might be able to cause him to spawn and catch him in less time. I did kill Sigan once thinking it would buy me more time to get Bilge but doing so gave a big faction hit (-25) with the Storm Guard (Dwarf Guards) which is something I was not ok with so I did not pursue this tactic.

Confirmed today he does not make a bee line run to his death. Finally got him to spawn today after spending about 3 days in DC with double nameds on. He spawned in the top right, swam down to Kedge, swam to the middle island, went back to the right side. Maybe that was just one occurrence. I did wait for him to patrol over there though (he eventually will). He caught Sigan by himself from killing other mobs and made him look silly. Sigan only got him to 88% before he died. Guessing he needs to be in camp and have the other 3 adventurers assist him?

Something I did notice is he will take the time to buff other gobbies with inner fire/sow. So if you see other goblins buffed it's probably a good sign he's up.
Luck or over complicating?

PH info below is incomplete. There's more mobs than that on the cycle. Any type of wanderer is possible. Bilge cycle on current TLP's is ~4 min 50sec respawn. All the other pathers in the zone including non Bilge-named cycles are ~1min 8 sec respawn.

I am confident this information is not correct, at least for the TLP servers. I spent 5 hours today killing and rekilling all PHs with these names until none were left appeared on track. This means that Bilge must have another PH than those 4 listed, or there is another mob listed that could potentially spawn one of the mobs that are his PH, which does not make sense in my opinion. Just some information for anyone looking for him.

No way a druid could "port on top of him."

If you saw them suddenly appear LITERALLY on him (not appeared because they dropped invis), that means you met your very first overt MacroQuester that day. The cheating scum.
The truth about Bilge's spawn
# Jun 06 2011 at 6:40 AM Rating: Decent
Hi.

I've camped Bilge for days on Fippy and when he eventually poped I followed his PHs spawn cycle. I got 2 other Bilges within some hours. Here is what I found :

- The respawn duration of placeholders on the Bilge's cycle is 5 minutes and 52 seconds exactly (where all other cycles/mobs repop within 1'18" only).
- There is no special mobs on the Bilge's cycle : placeholders can be gobs, snakes, skels and rats.
- Other nameds like Jetsam, Barnacle or Dwigus are NOT placeholders. Those nameds are on their own 1'18" cycle.
- There are many spawn points around the zone. Those spawn points are not exclusive, they're used by other cycles.
- It's not 100% confirmed but it seems that mobs always end-up pathing half-way of the Conium's hill. So cleaning mobs there might be a good idea.

So, like many other outdoor nameds, the critical point is the respawn duration.
You can kill a random mob and start a timer to see whether it's a 5'52" or 1'18" respawn on the track.
An other option is to train the zone and AE-kill the trash before starting the timer.
Sigan (the dwarf from the Fantastic 4) kills some mobs pathing by, so I'll advise to kill Sigan so it's easier (you won't take a great faction hit really).

Good luck.

Oct 2006 Update on Bilge
# Oct 04 2006 at 11:13 AM Rating: Decent
I have been looking for gear upgrades, and I read about the totem and belt Bilge carries. So, I went to Dagnor's and sat around for three nights straight (3 hours each night). At the end of the third night, he popped up on track, and I killed him. He dropped the Reed Belt and the Gloves of Rallos Zek.

I don't know what to say about the pathing mystery. He appeared on track, then moved around a LOT while I was trying to get to him. Kinda like shadowstepping. Then, he settled in just under the edge of the water at the Unrest tunnel entrance. I snared and popped him quickly. He and Dwigus are both bow-hunters, so be sure to have damage shield on if you're a caster. Otherwise, Bilge was blue to me at 33, and Dwigus was yellow at 33.

I plan to go back tonight and several more times in the future to see about getting the totem. The belt is nice, but 18 wisdom in the secondary slot would be awesome before getting plane gear.

Good luck to all!

(If you're looking for quick answers: Skip this message)

Rather than focus on who's right or wrong in regards to getting him to spawn; I take the simple approach. I fell in love with the DC zone when I first began hunting there around LvL 28 or so. Since that time I make regular visits each time I am on. I'm currently LvL 46 (DRUID) on PREXUS. Part of my routine involves Thistle Underbrush in Lfay. I check for him to collect his Braided Ivy Cords and Mistletoe Powder. Both of which are popular items on my server making them easy to turn a profit from.

From there I move into DC. I've managed to collect the Pearl Kedge Totem along with items from Barnacle Bones and all of the other "rare / named NPC's" that call it home. NOT by searching for PH's or waiting around but just by passing through regularly. Each and every day. This also allows me to gain what is needed for the Chestplate of the Constant quest. (which turns a nice profit as well when repeated regularly)

After a quick scan of DC I move in UNREST. I go there to try and loot the Dwarven Work Boots that drop. All of these items i've mentioned have a good re-sale value. Also, the zones themselves are close together making things easier for classes who can not port or SoW. I've found that when I visit these 3 places as part of a routine on a regular basis I am very fortunate. Especially in terms of the fun-factor and the profits.

I'm only suggesting that it may be better for some of you to visit the zone once when you log on...and then again before you sleep for the night. It's definatly not as disappointing as waiting in the zone for hours hoping to get lucky. If you make a strong presence you WILL eventually gain the rewards.

It may be a bit un-popular to say but...isn't THAT what the game makers intended? He could be up right now but you're here instead!

I was only trying to make the point that...rather than sit/wait/hope for him to show up...just visit the zone on a regular basis. I've seen Bilge 3 times so far and was lucky enough to get the totem each time. For some people, taking this route will be more fulfilling and less stressful. I was also giving an example of my "play-style". I like to spend much of my time searching for rare items and rare mobs. I've had great successes because I know what to look for and I visit areas often. (Rather than wait for him to come to me) That's all.

Okie all ive camped Bilge ffor 2 weeks ive got 5 belts i have his Spawn down placeholders the works. First time i came Dwigus was up killed'em about an hour later I had Squall Slither Spawned killed'em 5 minits later Bilge popped killed'em got belt, waited another hour Flotsam popped killed'em Then jetsam soon after. waited another 2 hours Exiled Lego spawned. while later Dwigus spawned again cycle started over and occasionally i would get a barnacle Bones between Exiled Lego and Dwigus. and Sometimes while doing the camp u can have Dwigus pop and no Sqallslither and it goes straight to Flotsam sometimes jetsam wont pop either and Exiled lego comes u then Dwigus then Squall Bilge etc. as i explained above. so pretty much the NAmed NPCs are his PHs Dwigus and Squallslither are the ones that can make Bilge pop the others can make Squllslither and Dwigus pop and no the other GObbies Rats and snakes and Skellies ARE NOT his PHs when i went there i didnt touch any of them still got the Nameds to pop and they died in that certain order sometimes it can Change but Squallslither and Dwigus are the PHs for Bilge. Other nameds can spawn those two 2 weeks of Exp can prove a fact after 5 spawns Good luck to all hope it helps!

Killed this sucker the other day on the way to kedge for the stupid druid epic kill there. Well anyway he spawned right next to Unrest. With new resists he is somewhat anoying with his slow and dots. But if your a caster he is cake no resists to fire, and magic is low too. Prolly spawns about as much as Lodizal, maybe less 8-/

I'm not above paying for them, mind, but fletching in the upper skill lvl's is damned expensive!

I've been checking in on DC for the last week or so hoping to catch Bilge. I tried killing Scalded Rats and Tidal Lords and snakes, but he never spawned. Well, I popped in today and I had recently read that the Aqua Goblin Shamans were his place holder. I killed a few random things and then saw a shaman, killed it, and Bilge was the very next spawn. This might just be a coincidence, but for those of you who want to kill Bilge, try killing Shamans. He dropped the belt, which made me quite happy as I needed to upgrade my Purity Belt and was light blue at 43rd. He hit for a max of 57 and was only able to stick one spell on me for 117. It would have been a much easier fight if it weren't for his damn arrows that kept interrupting me while I kited him and if Skin Like Diamond hadn't dropped the second I engaged him.

I saw him spawn next to the goblin camp next to unrest. So I killed him and got the totem, went and sold it in nfp, decided to come back and when i came back he spawned once again in the same spot, under the water next to that goblin camp, and this time he dropped the belt, it was about an hour and a half after i killed him the first time.

Droped totem. WOOT. Told the guild then a guildie got jelous and started asking questions bout him. I went off giant hunting when i get a tell "I just killed him 2 and he droped belt". Was really shocked cause the say Very rare spawn. Now follow me on this one and pls keep in mind its 3am and im very tired, maybe Bilge's Ph is...Bilge Farfathom!

Your crazy theory may be correct.

Found Bilge on track yesterday at 3:30pm. He had the totem in his hand, and of course dropped it. Went back later, and sure enough, at 5:00pm he spawned again and dropped the belt.

Dwigus and Bilge
# Jun 08 2002 at 8:24 PM Rating: Decent
Dwigus Lowater and Bilge Farfathom are not related in spawn at all.

The ONLY link between them is that Dwigus now drops an item that bilge USED to have, the piece needed for the cleric Solsek Ro Breastlate, the chestplate of the constant. Dwigus was created to hold this item when the cleric quests in Solsek ro got double buffed. (spawn times and ac/stats)

Verant created Dwigus so that the chestplate of the constant would enter the game faster, without altering the number of reed belts or PKTs entering the game. Dwigus is a set. 8 hour spawn. no placeholders, and he is not a placeholder for anything. every 8 hours, another Dwigus will spawn on the exact same spot, close to Kedge.

I was trying to catch Bilge tonight, and Dwigus was up when I entered the zone. I promptly killed him, and then ran around killing scalded rats until they were all gone (because I too have been told that they are Bilge/Dwigus PH's). Nothing happened for over 3 and a half hours after that - no Bilge, no Dwigus, and no scalded rats. (I ran around killing Tidal Lords, out of boredom, for a short while though.) Then a scalded rat spawned, and I tracked it down and killed it. Ten minutes later Dwigus spawned a 2nd time. I killed him and tried to find a Cleric to loot the ingot - no takers, so it rotted. (I kept the ingot from the 1st Dwigus kill to MQ it with a guild Cleric.) After the 2nd Dwigus kill, I gave it up - I'll catch Bilge another day. My point, though, is to say that Dwigus spawned again just under 4 hours after I killed him the first time - he's definately not on an eight hour timer.

Cheers :)

Dwigus is NOT an 8 hour spawn -- he can be triggered by killing scalded rats, or else it was just an incredible coincidence. Bilge is the piece of crap who never spawns.

I ran to DC to see if Bilge was up. I put on tracking and Bilge was up. I followed my tracking to him, which took me all over, even to the island. I eventually found Bilge being smacked by the Fabulous Four. However, I sent off one DD blast for 612 and Bilge started heading towrd me(the FF kept attacking him). I blasted him again, he died.

I looted the Reed Belt off of him(and gave the piece of junk to my level 15 shaman). This was about 2am CST.

Apparently, Bilge's pathing takes him right by the FF

Yes, Bilge is a very rare spawn. I have been camping Bilge for the past week. I committed a week out of my schedule and its up tonight, but wanted to share a few thoughts.

On Day 2, I logged back in from a break and found Bilge up. I quickly ran to the loc, only to find the Fabulous Four whacking Bilge to death. Seeing Bilge get slain by the Fab 4 and then "poof" is not a pretty sight at all.

I hit track and saw that Barnacle Bones was up. I ran to him, killed him and got the Coral Trident. I hit track again and found Squallslither up. I killed him and got the serpent blood potion. I hit track again and got Flotsam. I killed him and got the Giant Rat Tail.
I hit track again and nothing but normal stuff.

My theory at this point was that Bilge was the place holder for these mobs. About every 8 real time hours Dwigus would spawn. I would kill him but nothing spawned afterwards. Every once in a while Jetsam would spawn and I got him twice, getting the Rat bone powder

On the fourth night, Barnacle Bones popped up and Bilge hadn't been up, so I'm not sure if Bilge is the PH for him or not.

What I'm thinking is that the Bilge and Dwigus are on a random spawn cycle much like Wiltin and A Buccaneer in OOT, Wiltin being the very rare spawn. If Dwigus spawns, you have to wait another 8 hours or so real time to see if another Dwigus or Bilge will spawn.

I did follow Dwigus once to see his route and find out if that would help me. He spawned in the water near the Aqua Goblin camp and swam towards the entrance to Unrest. From there he made a straight shot to the Orc camp, paused there, turned and went in a straight line from the Orc Camp to the Fab 4 camp. After he crossed the island, he got back in the water and turned South West and came ashore just north of the Aqua Goblin camp.

I don't know if this info will be helpful. Its a very boring camp so bring a friend. I found to pass the time I would clear the Aqua Goblin Camp, then run to the Orc Camp, and back again. The Orcs drop Rawhide armor. The Tunic sells to the vendor on the island for over 1pp.

Aqua Goblin Tidal Lords drop the most pp, from 1-3pp. They also drop quest items, which I would shout the loc for if any one was in the zone. Bosun's sometimes dropped a plat and sometimes a bronze weapon which sold for over a plat. Shamans sometimes had a Bone Totem on them. After getting 4 of these I went and sold them to the vendor on the island for over a plat.

All of the Goblins had bows and arrows. I would normally leave the bows, but get the arrows because they stacked. The bows sell for gp if you want to collect them. You can use the arrows you get or sell the stacks to the vendor.

Rats and skells generally didn't have much loot to speak of. I had a friend that would take my cp,sp,and gp and give me pp, then run to the bank in Gfay to make change while I continued the camp. LOL, nothing like having 986cp, 889sp, 675gp to weight you down.

Well, tonight is the last night. Last night at 2am Dwigus was up and I was so tired I didn't want to take a chance and snare/root myself and die, so I let him live. Hopefully I can get Bilge and end this madness once and for all. Otherwise...I get a vacation after June and may spend it camping Bilge in DC.

Good luck to you all.

last nite myself 31 dru and 27 rogue were mucking around in the cauldron, just killing for the heck of it to see if he might pop, about 30 mins in sure enough he does, cons blue to me, so i figure what the heck, track him, tag him, and bring him back for the rogue to whack on him, well he is way underconned mainly cause of his shaman spellcasting, dispells all your spells, dots ya, then heals the heck out of himself when you get him low on hps, thought i might have him twice but went oom, asked another guy to help, he healed me once then watched me die, after the rogue had already died, ported back, no bilge :(
no one, including the innocent bystander had much to say about any drops or who actually killed him.
next time im bringing some extra firepower or getting some levels, this guy is really on my hit list now, i mainly killed stuff when you pop in from bb and then around conium on island, hes fast and hes dangerous. sigh
