I GOT HIM & U Can 2
# Jul 15 2001 at 6:37 AM Rating: Default
Folks, I first heard of this guy bout 6 months ago when my baby druid was level 20. I have been camping him pretty regular for the past 4months. I have read every discussion on him on every board and have tried every method suggested. One worked for me tonight and I feel obligated to tell you how I did it. First of all, hats off to Silvara for educating me with the idea of Turbo Camping. After spending entire days levitating in doggy form running around dagnor's with my tracking frantically wishing. I switched over to the pop in theory which is try to begin ur day and end ur day with 15min camps for him. I got it this late evening/early morning. when I had finished up hunting ice giants in Everfrost. Heres what happend. I gated into zone, I am binded on the island in the middle next to the dwarf vendor. I hit tracking as I have done thousands of times before and there he was.. I pursued. from the island he was in the water swimming exactly to the goblin camp. he is by far faster then any other goblin that u will see. I waited til he got out of the water exactly at the goblin camp and I rooted him, that is when he turned around to face me and my Jaw dropped, he had the Totem. I casted ensnare on him he was shooting me with arrows the whole time but they only disrupted one casting. I hit him with 2 Star Fires 612dd each time he was dead. the facts.. real life time was 3:30am Pacific coast time. I have heard previously that he spawns on the island, and makes his way toward the boat, then he gets in the water and immediately heads toward the goblin camp. I can't confirm his exact spawn spot but I have spent alot of time sitting at the boat in the middle island.Knowing he may run right by me. But if u look at the postings in this forum u will see a consistency with the fact that there's heavy bilge activity at goblin camp. I will hunt Bilge again I still need the belt. However I will never spend more then 15-30 mins a setting and neither should u. Oh yea.. Dwigus is a lot tougher then Bilge. and no I did not see dwigus and I was the only peep in the zone. it was kinda funny cause after I killed it I shouted I killed Bilge!!! and there was nobody there to hear it..hehe

The other day i was camping Bildge and thought that I would run to Quenos Hills and camp Hadden for FBE. So I ported to NK and started that long run thru Wk to Quenos hills
when i got to WK I just headednorthwest with numberslock running hard with SOW when some Mob
killed me (with summon) anyway I was bound on the island next to Chromiun When i popped I was totally naked right and guess what Bildge was attacking me (39) druid with not even a damage shield or nothing mimed so had to run and try to get root loaded finally did and rotted Bildge then got Diamond loaded and shaking like mad (because i'd camped him for ever right any way he found me by the entrance to Unrest but was 60 mana and tried to dot him but was taking dmg and tried to DD him lost mana and had Bildge 1/2 dead and had to zone into Unrest and med up zoned out and he meds faster then I did he was almost healed like new so I dotted him and zoned again but to nogood after 3 zones I came out and someone killed Bildge and sat there laughing at me ..............

He will never spawn

I've camped him for 26 long boring hours straight ! I've seen 4 Dwigus's (made 4 clerics happy hehe) 2 Squallslithers and 1 Jetsam, but NO BILGE.

What am I doing wrong?

Ok, first off, yes, the PKT is one of the best items for offhand for a druid. BUT... He's RARE, about a once a week spawn, no joke. How do I know? I LIVE in DC and Unrest, not to mention... I HAVE one. Bilge wasn't that tough, not to me and my pally bud, at least. Me (26 Dru), him (25 pally) and a level 18 cleric smashed Bilge inside of a minute. Not a lot of HP, maybe around 800 or so. Didn't count, but I only had time to get off 2 dots (first one saved) and 2 nukes (both of which partialed for 59 & 64). So no, bilge isn't that tough, but FINDING the lil SOB is the hard part. And he DID have a doll graphic in his hand when he dropped it, but he didn't have the belt.
Tell ya what

Welp first of all i wanna say that there are two sides to the AC spawn in SRO. One side that says its completely random, and the other side that says they know how to make it spawn. Welp after a week or two of straight working on the spawn in SRO, researching every bit of info i could find, and putting different combonations in. Ive gone 8 for 8 times so far of getting the AC to spawn. now of the two years prior to playing this game, ive only seen him in SRO once. though i didnt cross sro much and never fought there really. thats still weird. I'm not saying ive mastered the spawn there, Cause i still have more tests to do, but 8 for 8 nights is pretty dang good. the point is. alot of people started off saying the AC in sro was a rare and totally random spawn. So dont rule out that this Bilge isnt triggered. it could be just about anything. As for what i do for the AC in SRO, its one of the weirdest combo's I've seen yet. And i havent broke it down so it might not ALL trigger the spawn. anyways...

"Tell ya what" Ill spend at least a month trying to figure out this spawn. Whatever statistics my outcome is ill post here. If i give up (which from the sounds of it ill probably be forced to) I'll just leave this with a post of best of luck and god help you all whome want to camp him.

Either way, i dont really know why im gonna post this. But at least there will be a months worth of work on this spawn that you guys wont have ta do. see ya in a few.

BTW. i probably just got lucky to have ran acrossed the "SO CALLED" equation of how to make the AC spawn in SRO. to have found it (IF, i did) was one hellofa fluke eh? So just dont get ur hopes up. i dont have a lot of info to start off on this spawn, at least not like i did with the AC.

=) not to mention the 16 swatches of Terrorantula silk my partner and i bundled up in about a week of off and on playing once in a while during our fun times with the SRO AC spawn. =p

curious, if I did happen to see bilge as a L31 dru, would I have a chance of killing him?

Probably not, the bestiary lists him as lvl 35. Also, he is an npc and a rare spawn so he would be extra-tough.

Dumb luck at its best...
# May 30 2001 at 4:31 AM Rating: Good
Hello, just here to tell a tail of dumb luck.
I was on my way to Unrest to get some items for my lower level characters and guild mates
when I entered Dagnor's. I hit track and didn't see Bildge or any other named. So I circled to zone on the right wall like I always do and finally I reached Unrest. I was down two bubs of mana so I decided to med it up before going in. When I was sitting there I saw a low level fighter running like mad for the Unrest zone. I figured probably a train of low level crap so I didn't pay much attension. To my amazement I saw "Bilge Farfathom begins to cast a spell." and I couldn't believe it. So I rooted it, waited to the low level fighter to zone, then nuked the sucker dead and once to make sure. Dropped the totem (God I was so happy!!!). Well anyhow I couldn't believe my luck so I equiped the Totem and headed for Unrest, and in there I received Bloodstained Mantle, Bloodstained Tunic, and Dwarven Workboots. It was my best day on Everquest in a long long time. Anyhow, don't camp him, you'll never see him. If your running in to kill something else you'll find him sometimes. Guess thats just what happens. I've camped him before with no results. Camped him for 5 hours straight and nothing. My two minutes into the zone to get to Unrest and I see him? Thats just funny.

Finally got him on track
# May 24 2001 at 2:51 PM Rating: Default
After 2 months of popping in and out of DC to find this puppy, I finally got him on track last night. I had to rub my eyes just to make sure it was really him on track. LoL. He was near the Orc camp.

Anyway, I am a level 44 druid and he conned green to me. Hit snare, pulled him away from Orc camp, rooted, Calefaction, Drifting Death, Fury of Air, Calefaction and he's dead in less than one minute. Dropped him like a sack of potatoes. Guess I did not need Drifting Death, but I wanted to make sure. ;p

He dropped the belt. I like it. :)

He will pop anywhere, anytime. Just make sure you hit track if you're a ranger or druid. No use camping this guy. Just pop in when you're on your way to GF or Kaladim from BB or vice versa. Sooner or later, you will get lucky.

Btw, I killed Dwigus also a couple of days earlier and he was a lot tougher kill than Bilge because his arrows kept interrupting my spell casts.

Bilge Explained(maybe)
# May 22 2001 at 9:31 PM Rating: Decent
Bilge can spawn anywhere at anytime.
Each spawn point can spawn Bilge.

It seems that each spawn point has a percentage chance of spawning Bilge. You can see this at the goblin camp. Why doesnt mariners always spawn at the camp ? Or the bosun ? It is always a mixture of goblins. For example each spawn point might be
mariner 40%
shaman 20%
bosun 20%
lord 15%
dwigus 4%
bilge 1%
I am not saying this is it, but I have killed bilge 5 times now and have camped this zone for months. I have seen bilge 3 other times as well.

I am a druid and usually grab a newbie and tell them to kill everything in sight, I will powerlevel them, the deal is if bilge spawns he is mine. Newbies go for it everytime and like I said ive killed him 5 times so I must be doing something right.

One important thing to remember.
You cannot camp Bilge this goblin is a free for all Mob, You cannot KS Bilge because he is so rare, If you lose him to a more powerful player congradulate them, you never know they may give you an extra reed belt.

If someone wants to argue tough talk to the Totem.
This is from experience and careful thought that I post this, Hope to see hundreds in the Cauldron.
Beat his ***.
RE: Bilge Explained(maybe)
# Aug 07 2001 at 10:05 AM Rating: Default
I have to agree with much of this post. However, there is one part that I disagree with. While I whole-heartedly agree that you can't "camp" Bilge since he is so rare and he is also a random spawn who wanders the zone, I have to disagree about the statement that you can't KS him. Kill-stealing is kill-stealing, whether its an Orc Centurion in Crushbone, or a rare spawn like Bilge. If someone is lucky or persistent enough to find and engage Bilge first, the fact that he is rare doesn't give another, more powerful player the right to kill and loot him. There are specific rules to this point. Granted, Bilge is a pain to find if you are looking for him, but what, and more importantly who, determines whether a Mob is "rare" enough to exempt him from being KSed? GMs? High level players? Will the GMs respond if someone reports having Bilge KSed from them? Honestly, I don't know since I've never reported anyone. I suppose it depends on the individual GM. But whether the GM will do anything or not, it doesn't make it any less wrong.
I suppose there are exceptions to this, specifically if the mob drops a rare quest item, especially in the case of Epic Quest items, and also when the mobs are triggered and someone besides the person who triggered the spawn attacks it first. But Bilge's drops aren't quest items and he isn't a triggered spawn. He has a random place-holder and can spawn just about anywhere from what everyone has said. As for someone giving you an extra reed belt, the fact that the person went out of their way to take a kill from you makes it unlikely that they will give up any of his valuable drops, whether its the belt or the PKT. More likely, he will laugh at you, but that's just my expeience. If you are lucky, he will offer to sell it to you at the going rate. Anyway, good luck finding him.
the ironic part

let me tell the ironic things about this guy
I was taking my mage to unrest level 20 somthin
and my druid is 50+ so well I see bilge run past me to unrest zone
when he gets there I see a 20 psli fightin him
a higher druid gives him help for the belt or totem
and the pali stiffs him LOL

Came by and looked at the site last night, saw Bilge here, and figured what the hell, can't hurt to try. So this morning when I got one, I gated to BBM, made a short run to DC (Why bind in there, the run from BBM is like 2 mins?), made my way down the winding path, and as soon as I got to the water, I hit track, bam Dwigus was there. Tracked him down, killed him, had that block of metal on him, which I just left there, think a scavenger got it. As soon as I came up from looting Dwigus, I hit track again, and bam, there's Bilge, I'm running like crazy trying to track him down, finally find him, lom from Dwigus. I ended up having to chain cast from Warden Symbol of Tunare, at 10 dmg each time in order to finish him off cause I was oom :) Spent a grand total of about 10 minutes going after this item. I kept checking back throughout the day, but did not find him again. Did a price check in Gfay, someone asked if I was selling, I said maybe, just wanting to get a pc first, so I get a tell from someone in another zone saying 1kpp, then the first guy asks if I'm selling again. I mean c'mon, I play a blond wood elf, but I'm not a total idiot. Anyways, I guess I'm rambling here. The point is, I think that Dwigus does have something to do with Bilge's spawning.
RE: Woot
# May 20 2001 at 5:29 AM Rating: Default
I don't think the guy was trying to pull one over on ya b/c these belts are worth around 1k. I've killed Bilge twice on Cazic (never got the PKT though), and I've found no connection between Dwigus and Bilge. I've killed Dwigus plenty o' times and haven't seen Bilge spawn anytime soon after that. I'm pretty sure he's just you plain ol' run-of-the-mill random spawn (or should I say extremely rare random spawn). Grats on the new belt btw. 1k ain't bad for 10mins of work ;)
RE: Woot

This belt is worth far more than 1000pp, and should be also, considering the stats
Dont DOT Him
# Apr 30 2001 at 2:23 AM Rating: Default
Some mobs will vanish if you kill them with a DOT - sounds like Bilge may do this

For those who may doubt this does happen I encourage you to test your theory next time you kill BILGE :). I have seen it with Whisperwind in Skyshrine myself and avoid DOTing names - especially rare names
Bilge
# Apr 28 2001 at 6:06 AM Rating: Default
Bilge like his buddy Dingus is a RARE Gob spawn, he can pop ANYWERE a normal Gobo pops, beware, I have seen them both pop in the gob camp and sometimes not, best advice is to have track, and camp the gobos killing them as they spawn this will increase your chances of them spawning, Bilge i have heard is a once a week spawn, Dingus pops about once per day or so.
Bilge is a little less rare than Hartar, when i say him he didnt have the PKT on him and i couldnt kill him then (was level 20) now that im level 47 if he pops he is mine!

Ok lets think about this...If i see Bilge up the only ever possible way i would shout he is up would be if i was guildless and like way to low of a level to even TRY and kill him, even though i would probably try anyways. But, how often do you shout a rare spawn is up to the zone without asking guildes or friends to come help you kill him first? Shouting to the zone just makes it one giant free for all nuke fest.

What Verant told you you is bull cause not only is the game chock full of bugs but the gm you spoke to must have lied to you. If you kill a mob even if it has NOTHING on it the corpse will stay there although maybe not as long as if it did. Many a time I have looted a mob with nothing on it and it poofs only AFTER I have looked in its inventory.
I got totem =)
# Mar 31 2001 at 4:04 PM Rating: Default
I was camping the goblin camp right outside of the unrest tunnel. I'm a shammy and was going after the tidal lords for the shell the drop for the totemic armor. I was soloing the camp for about 25 mins and a ranger buddy of mine decided to join me for the water ring. (ranger ivy etched quest, also dropped off of tidal lords). Well about 25 mins after she got there she said that she had Bilge on track. Well I nearly fell out of my chair and started screaming to go get him. Well he was about 20 feet from the camp off on the edge near the water. TOTEM IN HAND. We killed him pretty much no problem started to bolt for the water after about 75% health was gone. Thank good for snare =). He dropped the totem and I got it. JUST DUMB LUCK.

Oh BTW, I was a 36 shammy and my ranger friend was 33. I had my pet out too from killing the gob camp.
I am going after the PKT and the belt
# Mar 28 2001 at 6:04 PM Rating: Default
I have read about boring camps but i think as a druid I will use this new approach i read about. I call it TurboCamping. I will bind near where I think bilge spawns. When I log on everyday I will spend the first 15minutes of play looking for Bilge, And when I am ready to log off I will TP back and spend the last 15 minutes looking for him. I heard that using this method it is very possible to get bilge in a week or so. I did this for the Mutant and the mammoth hide cloak and got the guk weed and the cloak it worked. After two weeks if I dont have the PKT or belt I will try another camp. I like this method. Unfortunately, oly druids and wizards are gonna be proficient at it.

good luck all ye bilge hunters

I will let u know win or lose in a couple of weeks

Bilge
# Mar 07 2001 at 6:03 PM Rating: Default
I killed Bilge today after being in the zone for about 25 minutes. I was sitting near the gobby camp when I popped up track and there he was. As it turns out, he was up on the wall near Unrest. He was stationary until I got close then he started running toward the water until he saw me and attacked (I am a 54 druid). I don't quite remember exactly, but I believe I cast 2 scoriaes and he dropped like a sack of potatoes. He had the belt on him, but I didn't see Dwiggus at all, and there were maybe 2 other level high teens in the zone, so it is doubtful that Dwiggus was recently killed. So maybe he is a random spawn after all.
