In the Gorge of King Xorbb: "Big nasty" - has some pretty heavy nukes and charms. Just like the other evil eyes in the maze, only tougher. Lord Soptyvr spawns on the altar in the middle of the other evil eye spawns. Note that minotaurs are KOS to him. (Information from: Greldon Silverhand, Cleric of Tarew Marr Server)

In the Valley of King Xorbb: Lord Soptyvr is encountered in the anniversary group mission "Evil Eye Operative" (see this quest entry for information).

Is for The Summoning of Terror" quest in paineel for cazic worshiping human and eruidite clerics, it seems to be his always drop and other EE stuff (PBBs, PB hoops, 5hp rings, eye stalks, etc) are his rare just like other evil eyes. He has just under 1k HPs by the way (3 bolts at 319 and just a sliver of life left that a 98 dd finished off)
What the heck is the lens for?

I am a level 32 wizard on the lanys server and have whacked this guy solo at least 6 times. If you lead off with a nuke as he spawns before the animation comes up you can own him...root the pet and stun/nuke. But anyways my main question is what in the heck is the lense for? He has dropped it every time i have offed him, but i dont know what quest it goes to. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I went in to the gorge the other day because a mage friend of mine wanted some help camping the ee's for PBB's, after awhile, he had to leave, then i decided to continue to camp the EE's myself, since they were no problem to me alone and if i caught them before they cast their animation. but after a short while, Soptyvr popped, and he conned white/black to me at Lv 30, so he's definitely Lv 30 (has conned that way every other time i've seen him). He was a walk in the park like the rest of the EE Lords, only he actually melee'd me, much to my surprise, hitting for 65 and sometimes doubling, but i'm used to that from the Gnolls in Paw. using stun and bash, i successfully kept him from casting alot of his nukes and debuffs and charms, some were resisted also, but about 2/3 of his life, i had to use LoH cuz he had nuked me well and doubled me, but after that, it was all over for him, so a well armed Lv 30 Pally WITH STUN!! can easily solo him.

A while back when i was cmaping the pbb's for my mage this guy spawned. I was fighting a evil eye at the time and the other side was taken. needless to say after i killed th ee the lord noticed me and proceeded to charm me(39 monk at the time), the warrior beside me who was green didnt take it all too kindly when i started beating on him and dropped him fairly quickly
Got him easily

I was waiting for the King on the right side wall last night and saw him spawn with no one else in the zone for an hour. Without letting it to have time to cast pet by stunning (46dmg) it as my first blast, I caught his attention. Then I use my strongest blast 320+ dmg on him and walk back to make both of us out of range to blast. Then I chain cast my blast until he get into my casting range again and take 320+ dmg more again. I don't know why it didn't cast or run, may be he is too low in hp and I finished him in my third blast. I believe he got around 900-1000hp only. I got the len and nerve from him without scratch.

Bring a Bard
# Dec 11 2000 at 3:30 AM Rating: Default
We took him out being completly new to the zone. We knew that they could cast spells so our party of a Paladin (15), Rogue (20) a not very good ranger(19) and myself, a Bard(18) took him on and the other eyes that spawned there.

Bards have great magical resist songs that can stack and protect the whole party. So all I did was bang the drum and sing rhythm songs, bringing all of the party's MR to the high 90's or low 100's. The rogue, paladin and I were in the same room (in RL) and the rogue kept saying, I just resisted charm, I just resisted this, I just resisted that, this is great! After killing six of the Lords, only two spell weren't resisted.

None of us were serioulsly damaged until someone trained in three minos and ( I kid you not) about 10 muddites of various levels. Looked like a muddite convention or something. I AE mezzed most for a while, but it got to be too much for us buythe time we finished the minos, and had to run for the zone. Made it too. Whew. We all decided it was a good time to camp.

Lord Soptyver
# Nov 26 2000 at 2:26 PM Rating: Default
He was blue to me at 40th. He spawned twice last night. A Human Cleric who was just a few lvls lower than I along with a friend of his killed him fairly easy. He then spawnd about 3 hrs in the middle of the night when no one was on. I knew this was going to be a tuff fight for me, so I nuked him til I was at 40 mana then Rooted him and Jbooted myself to Runny Eye. By the time he got to me I was back to 60 mana. Blasted him to 10 mana or so. I needed to heal so I rooted him again and ran back to the EE Lair to med some more. Healed to full.. waited for him to come.. then blasted him again to him Doom. hehe

This guy is a debuffing fool. If you have any Effect items like Jboots... then just chain cast it. He'll remove the effect then you bring it back up. I had two such effect items.. my Jboots and my Fright Helm with DeadEye. That kept my AoF, and Valor up... along with Endure Magic. I'm sure a few lvls higher.. like say 42 then a Cleric without Jboots could do him easy.

Forgot to mention that I am a 40th Cleric from Paineel. Lord Soptyver dropped the Lens I needed for my Terror Mask. I'm happy to report I now have my Terror Mask with Effect: Fear.

Last item I need now is the Dread Shield.

I got him with my 36 druid.
If you go down to the area where the eyes are situated, keep right as if you wish to kill the normal eyes on that side. Reason for this is that his pet is on the other side of the hill, which gives a few additional seconds without being interupted. Then prepare yourself with your buffs: at first put on those, which arenĀ“t necessary at all, the most imporant ones like sv magic buffs should be placed last. He will debuff you very quickly, beginning with the first buffs placed on you (three at a time).
Tactic was as with normal eyes: root and then nuke from as far away as possible, evade his pet and evade him as long as possible. I came out of the fight with 2 bubbles health and 1,5 bubbles mana.
Nasty geezer eye

This guy totalled my 30 druid. I came back with two 35 druids to finish him. We tried him twice. Both times he debuffed everything (we'd deliberately cast like 16 buffs or something to try and prevent this - didn't work)

Anyway - we had to zone to avoid being killed both times, and gave up at that point. A truly nasty beastie.
Nasty for a solo rogue at 33

Was fighting another eye when he popped up and started beating on me. Switched targets and got him down to half before succumbing to 2 pets and 2 eyes working me over.

He does NOT see through hide. I killed EEs around him all day, and hid from him successfully over and over.

Hide/sneek depends on the level of you and the guy that sees you. at low 30's an occasional Vampire Bat in Lower Guk would see through but now in my 40's not a one has seen me.

Hide/sneak does not depend on level, they are actually skills, like,say...Alcohol Tolerance. It's your skill level that decides it.)

As he is an enchanter, and enchanters have the spell 'see invisible', it is plausable to believe that if given enough time to himself after he spawns, he will eventually buff himself with a see invisible.

Is it possible that the bats mentioned above do the same thing?

Does anyone have more definitive info on whether a mob's ability to see through invis is based on self-buffing or level difference?

Was running thru the gorge and noticed Lord Soptyvr's pet in the passages--just sitting there (hadn't been there a 3 hours earlier). Popped into the temple to find no one camping there and two evil eyes up. A friend and I cleaned house for about 3 hours. Later that night, Lord Soptyvr spawned again--so I'd put it down to a 5-7 hour spawn.

Does anybody happen to know what the lens he drops is for? I cant find any refrence to it anywhere. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
RE: Lens of Lord Soptyvr
# Nov 23 2000 at 5:04 AM Rating: Default
Yes, the lens is for the Summoning of the Avatar of Terror. My Paineel Cleric Armor. First Armor was my Fright Helm. Next is this quest which is a bit harder for my Terror Mask. Next quest is for my Dread Shield... I need to be a few lvls higher to do that one solo. The lens is the last item I need to obtain my Terror Mask. I've been here for 3 hrs now and no Lord Soptyvr.

I dont know if this will work every time sence I have only fought him once just recently. I was camping ee's and he spawned on me while I was meding, I was buffed to the max. He cast one nuke on me, the rest of his spells were debuff spells. He debuffed all but one of my spells. My magic res spell 8) anyways, while he was busy debuffing me, I got off 2 of my 276 dd nukes and one 150dd nuke and finished him loosing near no life. Try it out.

I am 32 cleric and he was easy after I threw myself a heal. He didn't have enough left then and since my root wore off on the pet in the middle of it I then ran him to the zone.

Myself 22nd Barbarian Warrior, was alone in the gorge, and ran into him and his pet, I figured charm would not be a real problem. so I started hacking
was a very even fight to the end. he got me to 1 blb of life, and he had less life then me. but decided to zone just in case it hit me again with that spell that knocks you back. (didnt want to chance a run from my bind point) i resisted all his charm spells. I did not con him, though Im sure he would be tombstone. 8)

Did not touch his pet, figured kill him loot then zone, his pet then could poof.
Just killed him today.
# Jun 01 2000 at 9:24 AM Rating: Decent
Myself, 38 Necro, and a 35 Ranger took him pretty easily. He likes to use Fear and he can nuke pretty hard let alone when he decides to melee you.

If you take out the eyes on the side of him, you can pull them without aggroing him, then you can get the big guy alone.

If you are a necro, just whack the eye the feign. The pet will go poof.

Got the lens and an optic nerve from him.
Don't waste your time
# May 28 2000 at 8:33 PM Rating: Decent
This guy is useless since the mask was nerfed. If your low lvl avoid him, if your high lvl, and are really(stress really) bored, kill him and let the lens (when droped, it doesn't always drop) rot. This is another example of something cool that verant did, then uber nerfed at light speed.

I have killed this tough evil eye 3 times. His spawn appears to every few hours and a bit random. I have heard that you need to have both side Lord eye present but this is not true. I have seen this guy spawn with only one of the other eye spawns present. A word of note. The side eye spawns appear to be a tougher variety than the normal ones that regularily spawn there. I killed an evil eye that spawned while the Soptyvr was up and I got experience from the the kill which never has happened at my level before. He dispells your buffs very quickly. All three times he dropped about 4 pp, the len of Soptyvr and one bunch of optic nerves. My level 30 wizard team with a level 32 druid had a tough fight against him.
Killed him 3 times
# Apr 17 2000 at 12:35 PM Rating: Decent
I have killed him 3 times...but needed the help of a healer of some sort each time. I am a 35th warrior and maybe could take him alone if the other 2 eyes weren't there. NO WAY DID A GROUP OF 16-18 levels kill him!! They would all be charmed really fast and then DIE REALLY HARD!! The 35th CLERIC was the difference!!
Lord Soptyvr
# Mar 29 2000 at 9:44 AM Rating: Decent
This badly conned blue to my level 32 monk, and I was willing to go toe to toe with him seeing as that I was the only high level in the zone at the time. His spawning had basically shut down all operations in the Eye room because the groups in there knew better than to roll up on him. Well . . . it didn't help that all 3 Eyes were out (all with pets) when I attacked Soptyvr so I ended taking him down halfway before feigning. Heh, some opportunist else got the kill and his dope loot.
