I left CB at about lvl 16 to go and play in Unrest, and this little sucker had taken me & my friends out a few times. At lvl 22 I went back to CB just to see what it was like, teamed up with a 25 Ranger and had some revenge on this guy - only problem being that he respawns instantly (at least on Antonius Bayle he does)! After taking him down for the 5th time, no mana we decided enuff was enuff & zoned. If you are going to take this guy out make sure you pull him back from the pit or you will get a chain of Retlon's - although I reckon a team of 16's could use him as an XP factory.

He aggros on me, even if there's no fight in progress, but I'm an iksar so he probably just aggroed on me because I'm evil :)
his pet was easy to kill, but the root is annoying so you can't run away from this fight.
He spawns in a pit over by the taskmaster so watch yourselves if you're going after him!

I've been wandering through CB on Ayonae Ro a bit and finally saw something interesting. As a Gnomish Mage was going toward our friend Relton, he suddenly says something to the effect of "Free Me."
.. Okay, so maybe this explains those "special" keys like #20-something that no one has a damn use for. Sounds a bit like it anywho..

I killed the guy the first time i ran into him,a lvl 16 ranger asked to help so i said ok,(i'm lvl 19 warrior)we massacered the guy i felt kind of sorry LOL,his pet got it to. NO MERCY $ THE WEAK

He yells for help and we try to see what's wrong, His pet pops up and starts beating the notes from this bard! We heal him as fast as possible while our tanks try to make rock pie out of his pet. Suddenly, the twerp himself pops out and starts casting dd spells that do 22 dmg on the poor guy. We figure we should see if we can also have gnome sandwiches for dinner when the Taskmaster comes. We attack the twerp first, but then, the bard dies and Leggos are coming. We shout "TRAIN TO ZONE!!!" and try to run. His pet (Still alive) starts rooting our entire group! We yell for help and cant live. First someone else dies, then I die, then another one dies, and our group dies. And if 6 11-18's cant take him which cons yellow to a 12-13, What makes you think you can? BEWARE!!!

What I want to know is why this guy assists the orcs? If supposedly he is opposed to dark reflection and the dead, which are CB allies, then CB is also his enemy? Correct me if I am wrong here. The old rule applying, the enemy of mine enemy is my friend, shouldn't this guy assist us?
Another question: If this guy is so damn tough, why is he still a slave? He continually /con's several levels higher than the puny slavers. I make mincemeat of the orcs outside the castle with my level 16 ranger, yet this guy still /con's yellow and is in shackles? Go figure. There's a great big something about this guy that just ain't kosher, ya know?

He helps them because he's a slave. You'll notice the slaves in the caves will help the slavers too. If you are not fighting orcs, he won't attack you. Strange, but I've had it happen. I was standing by the wall in front of Crushbone Castle and he ran right by me twice. He /conned yellow to me too.
I'm not entirely sure that's a for sure thing, so no blaming me if he ganks you while you are standing there innocently. :) And it takes key 15 to free him. Just in case you are curious. ;)

I was grouping with two other casters (I'm a 16 Wizard) and we nuked him and his pet to death last night. I didn't get the chance to see how high he con'ed, but it was nice to wax this guy on my first encounter with him. His pet was certainly tough though, he jumped in on a bunch of Legionairres we were grouping. Hopefully I don't meet him alone!

well when i zoned in to cb today i noticed bodies everywhere. next thing i know he starts casting on me. Well I had a plan in mind i saved the 15 key that frees him. great plan right. well it doesnt work once he starts going off at everything in sight. So i figure oh well ill just kill him after all I am a 16 level paladan lol. well i swing away for about a min or two and about all i see is me missing him or hitting for like 8. so after 2 bubbles go away i decide hes not going to died without me doing loh and i dont want a faction hit anyway so i zoned. I went back in maybe 5 more min later and there where many more dead bodies. I did warn everyone going in that he was there but they didnt listen

His pet attacked me while Ret nuked me. Thank god for sow, if it wasn't for being a druid well i would of died. So just as a warning never ever attack this guy unless either you are a high level or you are twinked.

If you get agroed you need to zone or you will have to work later to repare the faction hit. This goes for caster ecspecially. I am a 40 th lvl mage who can only get certin spells from the ankonon guilds. the spells are essntial, like the ring of flight and such. if you kill or cast or hit on relton and he dies while you are in the zone you will not be able to bye in ankonon. if you have go to steamfront mnts. and kill monitores for a while. or go up and hit some that are being killed and that should fix it. A little help from your Teir"d hall lvl 60 warrior maximus. nameless serv

He is referring to other gnome faction hits. You may get to indifferent with dark Relection, but kiling Retlon will hurt Gemchoppers and other gnome factions so you might not be able to get into Ak'Anon, with out invis.

I was working the Legions Camp in the Back of CB when someone asked who let retlon loss. I knew he spwns in the slave pits and thats why I don't there. Anyways People Started Complaining about the guy. I tried to get a group together to attack the guy, but nobody wanted to help but my lvl 9 cleric friend so I tried himself with my friend. I conned himfrom a distance and he wasd yellow and indiferent to me. So i walk up to him and got ready for the battle. But I forgot about the 4 legions and two slaver just behind me. Anyways i cast fear on him and nuked his pet. But just as I started to chase him I got wacked by the legions andf slaver. They made short work of me. hehe. When I got my body back and scouted the area, I found him behind the fort all by himself. So i tried to kill him again. This time I casted enfeeble on him and started pounding on him with dots and nukes, I got him down to about 1/4 health when I got it in the back of the head by a legion. So very pissed off, and looking for vengence fast and hard, I kindly asked a lvl 50 wizard (i think she was a wizard.) to come to cb and get rid of the bugger. She said she would and met me inside CB.

Posted: Nov 27 2001 at 8:29 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) If you wanna kill this little man you NEED NEED to either be a NICE twink or have great sv. vs magic, or high ac I have 70sv.vs. magic and his spells only do like 10-30 dam it saves a ton of damage and if you have good enough ac he will only do like 10-20 dam instead of 40+.

1. If left alone, you can chat and get near him no prob.
2. If Somebody aggro's him.... oh man, he goes "Beseker" and thats when hes declared a menace..

2 days ago, he strangely aggroed a 15th lvl dwarf fighter i was grouping with who was kicking an orc cents on the bridge over the water by the castle, which is not so close to his pit. Anyway he was nuking the dwarf when i started attacking him. Within 1 minute, I was left with one bub of life (the git kept PUNCHING me for 25-30 hps), and legged it to the zone while my mate was snared and killed... Oh by the way i'm a 18th lvl ranger, and he had hardly lost a bub of life.

He killed me twice that i remember, and i was mad, but i was a lower lvl, around 12. I had a full group, and he attacked us out of nowhere and got all but one of us killed (i died).

Luckily, I had a Cleric at my side (Healan) and I couldn't have done it without him. I also had Skin Like Daimond which boosted my HP up to 986. He still knocked the snot out of me, though. If I didn't have the Cleric, he woulda gotten me down to 2 bars of life left. His pet was a piece of cake, though. :)
There I was, a young level 12 ranger looking for some experience in crushbone. I had beaten a centurion to the point of having to run to save his pitiful life and, in following him, I found myself in the worst possible situation. Just as I was about to take the last step to get my within killing range, I got hit with some terrible rooting spell that had me stuck to the ground like a power pole. Then, to make things worse, Retlon's pet comes over and starts beating the snot out of me. Where on earth do the creators of the game get away with putting a character such as this in a level where the youngens fight? I got smoked in the blink of an eye, and the corpse recovery... well, let's just say I couldn't do it on my own. What a creep! As soon as I got some age on my character and some decent equipment, my mission in life became to smoke this guy and avenge the death of my oh-so-young ranger. Advice to the newbies looking for some experience: stay away from this guy!--you'll regret it if you don't.

I first experienced this guy as a little noob on trainer hill... why was he on trainer hill, anyway? Well he attacked and slaughtered my full group of around 10s. I came back later around 15 and I could just barely take him in a group. He's pure evil! He casts for about 40 dmg, I think, and his pets root is the worst I've experienced, besides ghoulroot, blech!

Definitely agree with Joldaq. Attacked him w/ my 18 Pally, almost died immediately while doing minimal damage. We were near the zone, I zoned and healed as quick as I could, while a full group of mid-teens attacked him (figured I was no good to anyone dead and no lay hands). Came out just as Retlon killed the last member of the group and, w/ almost full life, attacked him. He had less than a 1/8 of life left and I barely finished him off.
