The Widowmistress

This darkie girl will spawn in place of one of the spiders in najena. I had assumed her to be a pushover being a lvl46 cleric but I had buffed myself full anyway (reso, naltron, AC, resists etc) ended up way tougher than i'd have imagined, has like 4 attacks a round for 68's but I think she may hit harder (after all i wasn't tanking her :D managed to root in time), procs poison so she's probably a rogue. I am told that she's red to a lvl31, was blue to me at 46, my guess is that she's around lvl36/37. i was at 80% mana when starting the fight and ended up having to use manastone to cast the last nuke on her.

Entered from submission.

Conned as level 36. Light-blue to a 46 Pally.

For reference, this occurred on one of the time-locked servers during the beginning (no expansions). My pally was wearing full Bronze with a handful of other plate itemss. Full self buffs, including disease and poison resists, and I was at 262 AC, 2186 HP, MR 60, PR 45, DR 48.

She will agro from far away so be read when nearing her spawn point. She runs at about 20%, directly to the spiders. Spiders will agro even when gray.

She double-attacks in the 20 - 80 range, and backstabs for 140 - 221 even when standing directly in front of you. She hits FAST, like every 2 seconds. Expect the occasional quad attack. If you are unlucky, she will quad, backstab, and proc twice in one round.

She procs both a poison AND a disease DoT. Procs go off all the time, at least once every four attack cycles; pointless to cure them. With my resists, they were resisted only about one out of every three procs. They are not dependent on her weapons as she will proc even when wielding two regular weapons (she drops fine steel piercing weapons).

For a level 36 original EQ mob, she does a ton a damage in a very short period of time. Definitely consider her an undercon. My 46 pally was down to 40% in like 10 seconds. Had to stun/root and back away to heal myself and question the decision to solo her.

Fortunately she's not particularly resistant to magic-based spells. Stuns and roots landed all the time, and for full duration.

Trying to solo her by tanking/self-healing was not a good idea. She does too much damage to keep up with pally heals.

Had to root her and fling arrows from a distance - Ranger style. I used a Bow of the Underfoot (archery at 190) and class-3 crafted arrows. Hit for 10 - 60 every 6 second. Took about 90 seconds to whittle her down below 30%. She flees at around 20% and heads for the spiders..

Dropped the dagger three times in a row, then two FS spears and quest hair on fourth attempt, followed by two FS spears and a *****'s-bane on last pull.

I kept sitting and letting her hit me. She kept trying to proc poison on me over and over (Weak Poison) but not once did I see any disease proc. Not definitive, but I couldn't make it happen.

She's got to be a rogue.
I was doing some exploring waiting for the Guards to pop so I could kill them and loot the Whorebane I need for the Journeyman level cultural book.
I was a 41 Necro with the 39 pet (pet armed with 2 Polished Steel Ulaks), self buffed only. She popped behind me, and the first I knew something was up was when she Backstabbed me for 80+.
I threw my pet at her to get some breathing room, and then watched as she took him out without breaking a sweat. I was able to get Scourge, Chilling Embrace, and Root to land on her, but she resisted Venom of the Snake, and Vampiric Embrace.
When she started resisting my spells I said enough and "Nuked" her with Life Taps!
She dropped the Stilleto and the Hair.

So:
Dark Blue to a 41 Necro.
Good Resists
Probably a Rogue due to the Backstab.
Rapid attacks in melee.
Indeed much tougher than expected

After stocking up on Tink bags the other day I came here to explore as I really haven't done much exploring in here during my 3 1/2+ years of playing. Sure, I came down here for the Trazdon for the Warrior Crafted piece but never really explored.

So today while checking the spider area for silks, I see she is up and she agro's from a good distance. As a 57 Warrior with 1106AC/3014HP and wielding a Sword of the Bloodsworn (12/19 w/75 DD) and Mace of Focused Flame (14/23 w/156 DD) I surely wasn't worried. I WAS impressed though. She was getting some very nice fast rounds, hitting me in succession for bursts of 3-4 hits for between 25-59. Pretty impressive for a green mob to take 30% of my life when it isn't a Giant or the like. She of course dropped the Stiletto, FS Dagger and the Hair.

As for those who consider others wimpy? There are a lot of things that classes who:

1)cast spells
2)have pets
3)don't have to take the melee damage to kill

can accomplish at a much younger age. In the days of old EC you would often find people killing Sgt. Slate. Most were Druids or Pure Int Casters and they could do it around 35. Man to Man with no buffs it took me as a warrior with maxed skills until 56 before I would do it. Why? You wimpy casters don't have to stand there and take his punishment, you would rather root him throw a pet at him and hide behind a tree casting spells =)

I had no problem with her as a mage at level 42. Very quick fight, only problems were the spidie aggros.

I ran into her while exploring the zone. I am a 44 necro and nothing really bothers me in the zone except a few skeles that my pet dispatches very fast. This girl can wipe out your 44 necro pet very quickly. Don't let her live any more then you have to. Make it your highest priority of stacking DOTs on her and taking the heat off your pet for a few hits. Just don't over do it.
Tough

She's a tough one. Conned blue to me at 41, and was hitting me 3-4 times a round for 40-80 damage each hit. Couldn't have killed her even with LoH, had to run to the zone.

I had some time to kill in the game the other night so I decided to revisit an old favourite hunting ground to see if I could get Rathyl to drop his Traveler's Pack (something I've always coveted). I was doing the regular spawn circuit (Rathyl, Drelzna, Najena) with complete confidence, and also clearing out the spiders periodically to see if the Widowmistress would show up. I figured at 52 she would be cake. Wrong. The third time I ran up to the spider room I could see her all the way on the other side just standing against the wall. As soon as I set foot in the area she aggroed, and I figured a big hurt was coming, but not like this. I backed up against the wall as fast as possible but she still managed to get in a 200+ backstab, and she was hitting hard and fast for 70s and 80s. The blood claw proc'd for her twice and she also has a rogue poison effect which is pretty nasty as well. I was using a savage stone axe with silver chitin hand wraps and she was still outdamaging me. I was amazed how quickly my hitpoints were going down. Finally, on 3% health, I harm touched her and dropped her. One of the scariest solo fights I'd had in awhile that I lived to tell about...

Do NOT underestimate this lady. She can take you by surprise with her speed and damage output, and by the time you figure out what's going on you might end up kissing the dirt. Take my word for it. :)

She conned Blue to me at 54, so looks like she's an undercon than what's posted here. Beat her down but almost took me out as well. Poison she gives was very effective along with proc and damage from her beating

I must agree..she's tough.I stumbled upon her 'bout a year ago as a 55 warrior. She was green but I got exp when I dropped her. Took me to 1 bub hp. Was clearing the zone for fun with my 52 ranger couple weeks ago. About 60% hp and half mana I turned a corner and saw her. Considered zoning and healing, buffing, sowing. Instead I went in. Was getting beat up pretty bad. Rooted her (root and snare do work). Took a wrong turn and ran into her when root wore off. Wasn't pretty. She got me again when camo wore off as I was getting my corpse. Went with my 54 nec other day. 1 dot and my pet took her out np. Pet lost mebbe 1 bub health. She IS MEAN!!. Beware-Najena does not rule this dungeon, the Widowmistress does :)

My mage (lvl 40) and a 40 bard took her down ez. Had to mez her once because bardstarted at 50%hp, so medded to ful. Long fight, but won. I agree that she IS an undercon, but not as hard as you say, also, no offence, but if a 50 something SK could barelyu win, either you had bad luck, started on low hp, or suck. I cant see why you would down so close, after all, u could have feared her.

OK. First off, note the three classes I took her on with-warrior, ranger, necro. Now genius, tell me, which of those classes can fear? Certainly not a warrior. My ranger can fear ANIMALS, and I told you I wasn't healed or buffed up with him. As for the necro I also told you, one DoT and my pet wasted the WM. Please READ and THINK before you post.

Went to Najena looking for focus items with my 37 mage and came across this lady. She conned dark blue to me, so I sent the pet in, and she killed it in 3 seconds and was on top of me. She hit me seven time for 68 or so in less than 5 seconds and poisoned me to boot. I could not get gate off fast enough. Quickest death from a mob that conned blue to me I've ever experienced.

I have camped this char with everything from a 38th cleric (when me and now ex hubby in RL were together) to a 52nd druid. As a matter of fact I am camping her as I type (on another computer) for my boyfriend's necro. From my observations over a 2 year RL time span she has ALWAYS spawned in the same spot, to wit: approx [474], [215].. at 52nd level she is light blue to my druid. The most I have seen her hit for is 83points of dmg and that was not a backstab. I have not seen her even attempt to cast or use a poison ability. Although, were she to have the Stiletto on her she prolly would as of course it procs Bloodclaw.

Cheers,

Killed her with very little problems. Died a few times trying to use my pet.

First off is root cause this girlie can outrun any sow. Then a nice whack with Plague move back a ways and feign death. Keep pet handy but off of her. Just lay dead and watch as her health dwindles.

Don't let her die while feigned pop up again when she is down to one bub of health send in pet root and blast with Torbas acid 3 times and she is a gonner. Fear kiting her does not work cause you got to run all over the place and with the skellies and minotaur and the occasional ogre gaurd aggroing you not to mention any of her spider freinds it gets messy real fast.

Me (a 31 BST) and a 29 ENC were down in Nanjena by the pool helping my buddy a 31 Paladin last night try and get the nobleman's hilt from the skeletons. The Pally pulled in the widowmistress and she conned red to me. Anyway he and my warder tanked her. Pally died. I did all I could to keep my wolf healed but then ran out of mana. She was down to about 31% health so I figured I would go in a tank her. Meanwhile the enchanter w/ kei was nuking her the whole time. I was down to 15% health when she finally died. Enchanter was out of Mana, it was a close of a fight as you can get. Only got the fine steel dagger and fine steel rapier though. Was an exhilarating fight though, and after reading all these posts, I think we kicked her **** pretty darn good!

Yup, 2 ice comets... one did crit but not sure the crit was needed. Poofies no more Widowmistress. Never even touched me, but then I generally root/snare most unknowns when I can.

Have no doubt that if I were a melee class, it would have been a lot tougher. Rogues should never be taken lightly and she is obviously a rogue. Dropped fine steel garbage, but was fun.

Besides the stiletto of the bloodclaw, is there anything special she drops worth the effort of killing her? It'd be difficult to solo her, unless I had some serious buffs and haste I think (I'm a 46 monk) but I easily soloed Drelzna and she dropped the exact same stiletto. If the stiletto's all you want, you'd be better off just fighting Drelzna, who's A LOT easier to defeat than the widowmistress. Unless you're doing the summoning of terror quest and need her hair, it's not really worth the effort of fighting her.

Ok, I took her out again today. This time I did it properly with darkness, fear, send pet, dot dot dot. She went down fairly easy but its a bit of a pain when feared as she walks back out to were the pond to Najena is and walks out of your casting sight so stick close to her.. also make sure you take out those annoying Najena skeles before you go after her. As the post below, she was standing in the big oval room at the back of the spider area. This time she dropped 2 stillettos :) Shame to waste one but no one else was in the zone. I got about half a blue for the kill I think. Good luck.

In the donut-shaped area in the north end of Najena, there are two static Giant Widow spiders and a roamer that roams all the way from the north end down past the goblins. The widowmistress has always (every time I've seen her) been in the very north-most static spawn spot. I don't think any of the other spiders are placeholders. Saw her about 1 in 5 times of killing all the spiders there. When I saw her, she didn't drop any Stilettos (even though she supposedly drops up to 2), instead she dropped FS junk, rapiers & daggers. Drelzna dropped the Stiletto about 1 time in 5 that she was up. As a wizard, I don't have many HPs so couldn't afford to take any chances on her. Targeted her from an Eye of Zomm, Loaded up Shieldskin, Resistant Skin, Arch Shielding and went to the wall to pull her from the farthest range. Pulled with Ice Comet, rooted, backed up, Ice Comet again and she dies. Doesn't seem to have any special resistance to Cold.

Thought Id have a looksee around the spider area to see if she was up. Didnt see her at first so started killing a spider.. then she comes out of nowhere and starts beating on the pet. I knew from reading these posts that she was no push over so I unloaded the dots I had memmed at the time (Asystole and VOS) onto her. Still had to tank her off the pet a couple of times and hit me for double 83 at those times but she didnt last long against the dots.
The spider did get its revenge though when it actually got the killing blow on my pet right at the end of our fight with the Widowmistress :)
Dropped only the 2 fine steel daggers but the fun was well worth the effort anyway.

We are camping the WM tonight, Saryrn server. She is tough, but easily managable with our small group. Level 40 enchanter(myself), 40 shaman and 40 cleric.

We put her down half a dozen times, she seems to have a 20 minute spawn and the PH is a giant black widow spider. We were also alternating between this and Najena herself, on the same spawn timer. It felt good, as I have lusted after revenge since The WM killed me once as a lowbie.

Never underestimate her, she hits very hard and fast. Our cleric had to be quick to ensure we weren't overwhelmed.

Too funny! 3 level 40's against her and you guys are worried. LMAO I was tryin to solo her at 38 at 39 I could solo her NP I am a Necro.

Guess that just goes to show the difference in the classes. A level 39 necro is better than a level 40 cleri a level 40 enchanter and a level 40 shammy combined?

Not!!

Then again I guess that would be true if you don't really have a clue as to what your classes are capable of and how to use your skills wisely.

I am tired of reading all these fear mongering posts from ppl that play the game poorly. This lady is a piece o cake.

Sure i died a few times figuring out how to handle her but you don't see me posting that she is one tough cookie because of my mistakes.

No I found how to handle her and posted that useful information. Not this useless tripe that will make others hesitant to even give her a go for fear of being outmatched. If 3 level 40's have a hard time how can a solo 40 even think about it?

Think about it. She is not hard. She does hit pretty hard and casts a weak poison. I would not recommend meleeing her at 40 but any of you casters should have no problems with this girlie.

Just keep in mind that she outruns sow.

I thought I would run through Najena today and saw this gal. She has a big aggro range, as soon as I saw her she ran after me =/. She's not that bad doesnt have much HPs but she does hit moderately fast, not too hard tho most she ever hit for was 70 and that wasnt often. Little tougher than I thought she would be, had to Root and heal once but everything was just dandy.
She dropped to FS weps I felt ripped off (
