Lucky me won the ribcage in a roll. On my half elf ranger it looks a lot like banded armor (I was hoping for something more dramatic too). The ranger was created simply because I have had no luck selling this item. Even though it's a fairly rare item off a fairly rare spawn, you may have to be very patient if you're going to sell it.

A friend of mine let me borrow his 45 Druid and, having gotten beat with my 15 Shaman, I decided to get my revenge against the Gorge Minotaurs. I decided to go ahead and see how far I can go, and I came across two Chasm Minotaurs. After I defeated the first one, Yymp appeared and attacked me. I killed him (and the last Chasm Minotaur) with relative ease. Looted the Ribcage off him. It's quite the item. I intend to sell it off for some cold hard plat. :)

Killed him near the EK zone as he was flying by. Hate to correct whoever said Erudites weren't KoS with him but I play a 44 Erud Necro and he attacked me as he was flying by. Looted that ribcage.

He conned blue to me at lvl 18, so the above level range may be wrong. He went down pretty quickly to a 18 and 19 ranger, and I got the ribcage!

I saw him as a level 16 Ranger and he conned even to me, so the level range is incorrect. Too tough for a level 16 alone, that poison he has whooped my *** and trying to snare/kite/heal in the gorge is suicide unless you can get him to the Karana end.

I soloed him. Finally took him down with 1 bubble left, me being a 17th lvl Barbarian Shaman with somewhat good gear and using Spirit strike several times (5). Watch out on that poison, have cure poison ready or potion...

I tried 'Expulse summoned' on this guy, and it told me it was not a summoned creature. Go figure.

The ribcage is not for the monks trent fist quest, that is ribcage armor, dropped by a gobbo alchemest.

yeah, Maninkilt is right. Just camp your caracter at the spawn point before they take the servers down and log back on when they're up...unless the npc wonders alot, half the time it will be right there in front of you, ready to die.

He does wander. The only time I saw him was inded after a server reset , logged on having camped in the gorge and decided to run down and gank the eyes. As I killed the second one , I sat to med and he came wandering by , possibly having circumnavigated the map.

Best way to catch rare spawn NPCs is to log the moment the server goes up after patch updates. Believe me, your success rates of spotting rare spawn NPCs will increase. :)
This is one of those strategies the high level players never shares.
I guess they just want more rare items for themselves.

Another strategy for all you rare NPC hunters...
Whenever it says the following zones will repop in like 5 mins or whatever it ssays, if there is a rare spawn in your zone and it is going to repop go to its spawn. Once that 5 mins is up EVERYTHING repops. If it has a PH you may be out of luck, but it works like a charm for the Oracle in OOT =)

This guy looks a LOT like fire imps in lavastorm, whitch are summoned (like Yymp), KOS to all exept erudites, have a fire sheild and cast a flame DD. I've only been to the gorge a few times so I've never seen him.

I was camping EE's in the gorge and looked up just as Yymp came across. He was green to a lvl 31 Druid. Died quickly and dropped the Mino Ribcage. This was at about 8:30 EST. He was in the EE circle not the Oblisk. Could have wandered there though. I was the only one in the zone. Heh Heh. All I was killing was EE's and I repeat I was the only one in the zone. No Mass Executions of Muddites and Mino's were necessary.
