This fellow is the source of those hideous looking baby blue robes that so many casters insist on wearing for the stats on it. He is guarded by the Guardian, a level 40 paladin. While he is not particularily difficult, he spawns very very slowly (at about 6 hour intervals).

He is also the bearer of the (unfinished) Quest for the Tome of Ages.

  • This mob spawns at -20, -6731, -200 up a hill on the southeast island.
  • Respawn Timer: 2 hours

You say, 'Hail, Oracle of K`Arnon'

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'Greetings, _____, I am the Oracle of K'Arnon. Do you quest for [knowledge] yourself, or do you offer that which I [seek]?

You say, 'What knowledge?'

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'I have lived long and have insight into many matters, yet I despise charity. To learn from me, you must first bring me that which I [seek].

You say, 'What do you seek?'

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'I seek knowledge, which is superior to all things. And no knowledge is greater than that which is contained within the [Tome of Ages].

I think I'll stick with my RoE
# Oct 09 2000 at 9:27 AM Rating: Default
This would give me 1 more INT, and 20 mana, and i think some other stats too I forget the stats on it. But since it looks plain friggin but ugly, I'll stay with my RoE

As a matter of fact, I traded this thing for a RoE. I was tired of being begged for clarity, and looking like a little sissy boy.

He drops the Robe of the Oracle about 95% of the time for some odd reason sometimes he spawns with out it. His spawn rate is 7 hours. Don't try to solo him unless your 49 +, his dd's do about 250 each and hes a wizard, he'll dd every chance he gets, the best bet is having 2+ people to help. Idealy you want a druid or ranger to harmony the guardian, or have a 52+ pull the oracle (the guardian wont assist but will still agro if you get close). Once Oracle is away from the Guardian DD his brains out he has low hp for his level, due to his high output, if you can summon a pet do so. The oracle robe is 9 ac 5 int/wis +25 mana and looks neat, purecasters and monk only. It's worth roughly 1k PP.

You're on drugs if you think this thing is worth 1k. It might fetch 450 if you are lucky.
Soloing by Necros
# Sep 17 2000 at 4:00 PM Rating: Default
This guy is an easy mob if you know how to solo him right. His gaurd posts a bigger problem so first DOT Lifetap him and Pact of Shadows your pet. As long as you Augment your pet, he is unstoppable. Then sick the pet on mr. Oracle, and stack Dots on him till he dies. I did this when I was a 52 Necro.

<nods> very easy. I did as a 51 Necro. The guard is blue, oracle green.

Park the pet over the hill, pull the guard with your fav spell (mine is Cas/Doom dark) sic pet, fear...dead guard.

Rinse and repeat for the oracle, except dont pull him ... sic your pet on him first to interupt his casting, then fear kite...too easy.

The oracle cant seem to cast on me with my resistances to magic/fire and cold at 60, all his spells were resisted for the 3 fights. His guardian friend is a bigger problem. but 1 good harmony and he'll just sit there like a ogre trying to figure out some toilet paper. But the robes are nice for selling. Quick 1-2k
#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 14 2000 at 1:19 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ....right on, riiiiiiiiiight.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 11 2000 at 11:03 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) So you sold GSD for over 1k, then you got a free oracle robe and GAVE it away. mmhmmmm We're not impressed. Grow up and actually do something instead of fabricating lies and posting them here
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 18 2000 at 10:51 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Was on the boat in OOT (was going to kill Goblin Headmaster for Acumen Mask quest) when I saw the Oracle was up. Me, only having a green silken drape at the time (I finally ended up trading the GSD for a TON of stuff [over 1kpp in stuff, just gotta be smart when trading :P]) kindly asked a lvl 51 magician if he would kill the oracle for me, and low and behold he did :) Then I got a new robe... then I quit that char and gave it away.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 14 2000 at 7:24 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Case is pretty much the same with Miragul (biggest, baddest necro in the world) and his robe..except his robe is worth wearing. Stats, "Yeah, I killed Miragul" and all.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 16 2000 at 11:18 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) point A: This robe is obviously not no rent, judging from the number of people wearing it.
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 27 2000 at 3:10 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Last I heard, his robe is now NO RENT...tells me either someone is feeding BS, or that the quest is going to be fixed and they want ppl to focus on it
Oracle

The Oracle cons even at level 35. He's occasionally 36. A very hard kill even for a level 48 druid. If you can get a druid to harmony the guardian, he should be easy at level 47-49

Your right about a tough kill. I went after him as a 48 druid. I raised all of my resistances, but forgot to cast Skin like diamond on myself. I harmony pulled him, but used the wrong strategy from the outset. I snared and then rooted him and then tried to firestrike him to death. He killed me when I had him down to about 5% of his health. Bad druid, bad. I went back and looted myself and tried a different approach. I stacked all of my resists and gave myself Spikecoat and Skin like Diamond. This time I harmonied and then opened up with Calefaction. Followed that up with Fury of Air and then rooted him (he was away from Guardian by now). After that, I kept up the Firestrike until Fury of Air came back and whacked him again. This time, I killed him and lost only 1 1/4 bubs of health. I resisted two of his dd's and partially resisted the others. He never hit me for more than 143 dmg on the second try.

At level 47... you should kill the paladin for experience, have the pet tank the oracle, meditate during this, get up and nuke everytime you have the mana. This has been successful for my friend thus far, shouldn't pose much of a problem.
Think 47+ necro can get robe solo?
# Mar 04 2000 at 11:23 AM Rating: Default
As 47+ necro think I could kill oracle which I could but can I loot robe and gate in time while pet tanks guardian who will come when i attack oracle?
RE: Think 47+ necro can get robe solo?
# Oct 12 2000 at 9:54 PM Rating: Decent
Maybe... With the 49 pet I think you could. The Guardian hits HARD. As a guard like the guards of the cities. He is gonna hit for like 200 a pop and its gonna suck hehe. People I know jus have one necro fear the guardian over and over till oracle is dead and gate out. BTW the oracle aint to easy either Hes a wizard and nukes hard. GL

Peace

Yes. I did it at 50 pretty easily.
Summoned pet, feared guardian. Sic'd pet on oracle, and cast ignite bones on him only once. He dropped in a few seconds. Soon as he died, I looted robe. Guardians fear wore off, and my pet held him off while I gated.

I got out of there with half health, because the oracle hit me with a couple dd's and he would practically ignore my pet. Overall though, it was very easy.

Yeh, the fearing the guardian off is the best tactic. Cast invoke fear on guardian, send your augmented pet on the oracle, dark and fear the craper then just DD and dot till dead. Or you could lay down ignite blood then Harm Shield and let him wack you while your pet beats the snot out of him. Although i'd keep ST mezzed just in case the guardian resists fear.
Drops...
