No way that thing has 4K hp. Maybe you're thinking of the OOT one, but I just killed a sro AC a couple hours ago and he had nowhere NEAR that hp. He was a little easier than a sand giant, but not too much. If I had to guess, I'd say around 1k hp, maybe upto 1.5k and low Reaver-in-the-groin resist.
While we're at it, for any of you trying this camp at the actual intended level and not 50 like most people, you don't NEED to kill sand giants. I only killed one, and that was like an hour and a half before the AC so it was unrelated. I didn't bother any more of them because if I killed them the gas tank would be too low to deal with the AC if it popped. There were at least 3-4 SGs up when the AC popped so you don't need to worry about the AC not popping because you didn't kill all the SGs.
Do, however, worry about Terrorantula. That thing is BADASS. I saw it in the distance and left it alone for the same reason I left the SGs alone, and a group of semi-sentient newbies let it walk right up to them... so I charge at the spider as fast as I can and engage, but it's already killed 2 newbies. I watch in amazement as it slapped me down to 50% hp while it was still at 90%. So I took off to zone and came back and rezzed the newbies, who never so much as said "thanks" for risking my own skin and wasting a bunch of mana to save them... bah, damn newbies... anyway, AC conned the same to me and it only got me to 40% when it died. So in comparison, AC took 60% of my hp for 100% of his, Terrorantula took 50% of my hp for 10% of his. Major undercon, major pain in the ***, major distraction since you need to keep an eye on it to stay away... and the DE merchants don't seem to fight it the way they do giants/AC. Useless inkies...
So i was bored, sitting in the nexus, going to pok to check if anyone needs porting and i saw a ooc for mass kei. I went there, got kei, buffed up and decided to gate to AC-island (where i was bound) to hunt some seafury cyclops. Just after casting gate, i went afk for couple of secs and afterwards came rushing back to see if there wasn't a cyclops bashing in on me :) I turn around and saw this cyclops standing right next to me - barely out of agro range. I click it .. yup .. AC .. my luck ^-^ Quick fight, my monk alt will be "very" happy :)) Sorry for all you die-hard campers out there, i really lucked out today ..
alright, first off I killed everything in zone for 5 hours (RL hours), it was after midnight before he finally popped. the dark elves where beating on him, so i tried fear. some reasons had him targeted, and of course he ran with elf hitting him. by the time i could fear her, he was down to 15%. nuked him and said i have slain an ancient cyclops. but of course he disappeared. my luck
Just Wondering but i've been told that he now drops a sword called (i believe its called something like this) Blackened Acrylia Blade. If the AC does not drop it Please post back and tell me who does.
That is correct - Blackened acrylia weapons are made at, near or above 250 in smithing - and a real pain to get the components - not to mention getting to 250 is worse than slamming your - well I will be nice and not finish that - but you get the point. Good luck if you pursue the 250 in smithing - I am at 200 atm myself and not looking forward to the rest of the way.
Let me tell you all a few hints that I've discovered, after camping this badboy in South Ro for many, many, many hours on end.
1. I believe he can be spawned a number of ways (not sure how many, of course)
2. He may randomly spawn (who knows?)
3. I have varified at least 2 different ways to spawn him. However, even if you do everything right, he is still a random spawn. SGs, Husam, and Terrorantula are all possible spawns in place of the AC, even if you do everything right. Repeating the method will give you another chance for the AC to spawn. He is not as random as you might think - a couple wash, rinse, and repeats ought to do the trick.
4. Nowhere on the Internet have I found either of the two ways I have verified. Killing the tower at 6PM or 8PM or whatever has never worked for me, not to say that it may not work. Think about it, with as many people trying these methods, and my theory that he may have a completely random spawn, some would eventually get lucky using these methods. Not because they did anything to provoke a spawn but because that was when he randomly spawned. Also, there IS a spawn cycle which involves pumas/desert tarantulas/sand mummy/terrorantulings/Husam/Terrorantula. (commons, uncommons, rare, very rare) I have never been able to spawn the ac using this cycle. If you get him to spawn like this, let me know!
5. In the many times I have seen the AC spawn, I have NEVER seen him SPAWN during the day. I have seen him roam around during the day, if no one kills him (which, of course is extremely rare), but this is only because he spawned at night. Night is 7PM-7AM, btw.
6. Although I cannot disclose my method for spawning him, because it's more fun to figure it out yourself (as I have, with the tips I've received from MANY people and web sites ~thanks~), I will consolidate, here, a few hints: - The proven methods I use are simple. There is no need to run around the desert killing everything in sight. This is a waste of time and mana (if you're a caster). Although, I have seen this method work before - but only because you are killing the appropriate spawns (and perhaps NOT killing the appropriate spawns). However, it could take hours or minutes this way - you never know. - You virtually need someone with track. This is very important because you must be able to recognize odd spawns. For instance, the rattlesnake is very hard to see, if you're just running around the desert. - If you're really interested in figuring out the spawn, you need to be in the desert at night game time, by yourself or with a friend or two. Others will inevitibly mess up your ability to judge spawns, etc. And most likely, if you DO pop the AC, you will be KSed by a level 65 jacka** who just happened to walk through the zone at the right moment and be at the right place at the right time. This person will most likely gloat about his/her "luck" and how there is no "camp" rule in South Ro. Then he or she will turn around and go to Nexus or POK to sell the MQ. This has happened to me more than once. Deal with it. It will happen. - The two methods are quite different, and one seems to work better than the other. Yes, undead have to do with one method - So some theories are close regarding that one. Yes, rares do have something to do with it, as well. And yes, so does the infamous tower mob. 6. The only spawns that matter are the ones in the desert...the grass has nothing to do with it. They are two separate areas of the zone - and mobs wont cross over the line between the desert and grass. 7. Lucky seven. Dervs, like most agree, have nothing to do with the AC spawn, so don't waste your time with them.
In the end, you will end up with your Ring of the Ancients and your extremely nifty jboots (which have their uses for almost all classes). Have faith, pray for a little luck, and prepare to become as obsessed with this as I did!
Also, if you do figure out how to spawn the AC, please use your knowledge wisely - help the lowbies to get their jboots. This is primarily the reason I am not disclosing my methods here - because I *know* some of you would farm the AC, and the poor lowbies would have no chance to kill the AC on their own. This is why I use my knowledge to help the little people, not to make a profit. Just think, in the end, if you do nice things for people, that good karma will come back to you!
Peace and Good Luck! Remember: Patience is a virtue!
My personnal oppinion is that your full of crap. Not trying to be rude, but that's an aweful long post that says an aweful lot of nothing. The AC is 100% random. I personally don't believe that killing mobs helps at all. I think he will spawn no matter what when it's time. I'm pretty certain of this infact. Anyway, if you want to do this quest... SRO is the wrong place to be. Head to OoT. Where you can claim him. Because unless you're a necro or a wizard the odds are not in your favor, you will almost certainly be KS'd.
During the day: Kill Trash. No, not just things with two legs, no not just undead, no not just mobs with odd names, everything.
At 8 PM EQ time: Kill the Undead Tower mob. No, it doesn't have to be any one of them in particular, just whatever's up.
After Tower mob, untill EQ morning (8 AM EQ time):
1. If you do NOT have track, sit on hill north of DE Merchant camp, clip plane all the way out, and do complete 360 degree scrolling. Kill trash that wonders by if u want. If AC spawns, you will at least be able to see him from here (long as it's not raining).
2. If you have track feel free to do whatever you please, since you should see AC on track even if it's not in your line of sight.
I got a spawn the first time i used this home baked strategy. It is a combo of bits and pieces from others i tried (Thanks! :) ). I do NOT guarentee a spawn with this method, but it worked the first and only time i tried it (as you can imagine i was rather sick of SRO by the time i figured this out).
Craziest AC spawn strategy i ever heard: give a SG Terrorantula legs without aggro, kill sg, and then get an AC pop. While i had this in testing i would re-loot the Terror legs so it could be attempted again more easily. Gotta be very fast to get in, trade legs, and get out of there w/o aggro from SG.
Good luck, i do hope this strategy will be helpfull :).
Well, so much for the idea that camping the AC in OOT is more respected. Been camping him whenever I could get the spot for a month. Got it early today and 5 hours later he finally popped. Killed him with my 2 higher level for my 34 wizzie. Looted with one to hold it while logging on the wizzie, and Kinb of the spirit wolves of silvermyst waited for my cleric to pop up and had a quicker trigger finger than me. Guess I will be camping it for another month. The good things on life go to those who lie, cheat and use whether it's EQ or RL. If you don't believe me, you haven't been around long enough to learn it yet.
You may be wrong Mr. or Miss BumblelinaFumblebee. I've heard that the AC was taking out of the East Karana Zone. I've also heard that the AC very rarely still spawns in South Karana. In fact, a good friend has seen him not long ago.
So if you honestly don't know, then don't reply because you obviously don't have a clue whoever you are. lol
IF you had a fungi and good haste (CoF preferably) otherwise no a war cannot put out the dmg. trust me my monk was 44 with pretty good equip but no fungi or good haste. He got owned cause the hits from the giant are so big and even with mend i didn't have enough hp to take the hits without regen. BTW a 44 monk can solo better than a 44 war so don't try it thinking your a war and can tank better cause i'm sorry, you wrong. a twink monk can tank pretty damn good 20-50 its the mobs at the higher lvls that kill the monk =p
Ever since you had your head up your *** until now a class is determined of its rank by its equipement unless you are talking about a caster and a melee. Any melee can be horrible. Not ANY monk can beat ANY warrior at 44. And monks cannot necissarily solo better than warriors. Warriors just don't have mend. And a really good twinked out monk cannot tank at 41. Try tanking in Dreadlands or Gunthak. I've seen enchanters tank better than twinked monks!
yes, it really comes down to how you play the game. At any rate, most 45 players, whether melee or caster could probably use some assitance with this beast.
Though I am sure somebody somewhere has soloed him, maybe even lower than that. Who knows? Some folk are crazy like that.
Sure you could bring him down, but the spawn rate in OOT is currently popping mobs at 6 minute intervals. Some of the PHs are a piece of cake, like the pirates and Boog Mudtoe, but you could also get a string of 4 or 5 regular cyclopses. Those might give you some trouble, unless you could somehow heal to full within 6 minutes after each kill, and those would bring you down below half life each time I would guess. Maybe you could solo the camp, maybe not. Its kind of a craps shoot and I'm hard pressed to guarantee a death-free AC camping experience for you. If you had any healing class or melee class with you around your level, I bet you'd do just fine.
Just now got the ring in Sro. I followed one of the post saying to kill the necro at the undead tower at 6pm game time. The next morning he spawned. Might be coencidence mabye not. It was my first time camping him. I might have just been lucky =)
You got lucky.... He has no PH... killing the whole desert, and or killing nothing makes no difference. I used to think that SG's and stuff where PH's, till in my high 30's I was kiting a giant around and POP .. there is the AC, needless to say I had to giants on me and a exp death when I got the AC to 1/2 bub of health left
FACTS
He only spawns between the hours of 8pm ( THIS IS EVERQUEST TIME ) and 7am
He only spawns in the desert
He only spawns on even numbered hours
He has NO PH... mobs will despawn for him to pop, if it is time for him to spawn.
Well I was the only person in SRo for nearly an hour, running back & forth between the Derv camps (collecting rings for fixing Sol Temple faction). I killed nothing but Dervs apart from the odd Zombie who agroed me and madmen when I ran short on water. The AC popped practically on top of me!
Three days later I was doing the same thing but this time other folk in the zone were killing everything - pop! On me again - damn - still had the first ring on me :)Anyways - kill everything or nearly nothing - doesn't seem to make any difference?
Anyone have an idea on what lvl the spawn is in oot? my bro and I spent 8 hours the otherday camping sro, only to have the AC snatched from us by someone just passing thru the zone. Basicly am wondering if a 37 shaman/warrior combo would be able to hold the spawn in oot, or should we wait till 39 when he gets his new spells and pet.
He is level 30 because I've killed him at level 40 and he was green. I don't see why people either lie about his level or guess because they sure didn't con him.
I noticed most of the information here is S.Ro related. I camped him in OOT, IMO it may take longer but it is worth the lack of agrivation. His spawn time in OOT is 6 Min, his place holders are a cyclop, Bog Mudtoe, a pirate, and aqua gobbies. The most common place holders are cyclpos, which are red to me(35 Cleric) and Light Blue to me friend(59 Cleric). Bog Mudtoe is green to me. The Pirates were Light Blue to me as well
The Cyclops placeholder on the AC Island appears to have the same hit points as the Seafuries. So yes, they are definately a higher level than regular Cyclopes.
I figured i'd share my experience on the AC. So far i've killed him 3 times in S. ro. As far as actually getting him to spawn i didnt use any special tactics other then to go to s ro when there werent alot people on and running around and randomly killing everything in the zone. I think the longest i've spent campin him before he popped was like 2 hours
Well let me start off by saying the whole desert of south ro isn't a camp so if someone gets to the AC first get mad and keep working it. (Ive had several spawns seen go away from a druid tracker sitting in the back ground no offense to druids of course) But anyways an easy way to get him to spawn is get a 49 wizard or higher, grab everything in the desert and pull to him, easiest if he is on the hilltop so that he can scout for you. Grab everything up in sight, run to wizzy and park on top of him if possible, and then repeat, have done this several times and have not needed to wait over an hour when someone was pulling to me. Then rinse repeat. Before long the ac will spawn just keep the desert clean.
Popped him last night in SRO after two hours, had some guy say I KSed him when he had been in zone for 20 mins and just stood by the tents while I ran around toasting the zone. All I have to say about him is Keep undead in tower cleard then besides whacking everything in zone (sand area)kill Terrorantula hatchling 30 mins later kill 1st Sand Giant... 30 mins later kill 2nd Sand Giant... 30 or 45 mins later kill AC poof Ring of Ancients... this is in addition to killing everything that moves except snakes and pumas and orcs...everything else I hit... I think it was the Major spawns Giants and Spider plus undead in tower that gets him to pop. I will be doing him again this weekend and let you know for sure. Kizamt the Prizmatik 47 Mage Drinal Spirits of Enlightenment
God well I camped him for 11-12 hours straight and nadda in sro. killed husam about 3 times and he didnt come right after. killed the undead in the tower and nothing. terrorantula twice, no ac. went over to oot for about 5 hours and he wasn't there either. i'm beginning to think he just isn't in the game anymore. god i want those jboots...
It's easy I have killed AC here in Sro 3 times in a single day... I gave the trick away earlier, I wil repeat it though..
He only spawns between 8pm ( IN EQ TIME ) and 7am-durning the night
He only spawns on even numbered hours 10...12...2...4...6
He has NO PH... There is no need to waste mana killing a giant to make his spawn open, they aren't PH's mobs will despawn just for him to spawn ( only nice thing varent did )
So at 7am ( EQ TIME ) go exp till 8pm ( bout 30 mins ) and campin him durning the night.. after a few nights you will see him
He's anywhere from a 30 mins spawn to 5 hours roughly... usually withing 3 - 4 nights you will see him
Has anyone seen this bad boy in the Ocean of Tears recently? I've done some serious camping -- 2 10-hour sessions, another 6-hour one -- and zippo. Wondering if he still spawns here....
I guess I lucked out on spawn, sorta. I'd camped for him about 8 hours total and gave up. On my way through SRo, looking for SG's, I'm heading to Oasis and there he is. No one else in zone, lots of MOBs running around. Dumb luck, but after I'd camped him so long following all the other tips, I guess I was due. He conned dark blue to me at lvl 34, too, which was a bit of surprise, since I expected more of a fight. But with KEI, bonds of force, SoW, and my lvl 34 wiz DD, he went down pretty easy. I'm finally going to get my JBoots.
The spiders are the place holder from what my friends and i have found the higher lvl ones any way. But every one has there own thoughts on it so try them all. ) hope this helps have fun and be safe.
