Spent 2hrs in OOT camping the Ac and nothing. Had to log for RL stuff logged back on later that night and tried SRo, had a 57 druid friend with me and he said the AC had popped only mins after porting into the zone, this time it had popped north of the druid rings/port(or whatever).

The East Freeport gnome teleporter will send you to Erollisi ("Sisters") Island in OOT. You can see Pirate Island, where the AC spawns, by looking west from Sisters Island if the weather is clear.

On top of the steep Pirate Island is an old tower, with a spell vendor inside. Stand in the arched entry to the tower interior, then look south. You will be looking at a corner of fence. If you climb the fence, you can imagine the corner as an arrow. It points past a dead tree toward a blunt finger of sand sticking out into the water. That finger of land is the only spawn spot on the island (except for the vendor). The AC will spawn there. So will Boog Mudtoe, regular cyclopses, the pirate and - for me, just before the AC spawned - low-level aqua goblins.

Oh! Incidentally, if you want to catch Hasten Bootstrutter on the fly, remember what this website says: he's fast. I had Spirit of Eagle from a level 65 druid, and it took me a long time to run him down.

I recently did the Journeyman's Boots quest and when I got to the part for Hasten Bootstrutter, here's what I found:

1. He takes a LONG *** TIME to spawn, me and my friend actually saw the Monk dude spawn THREE times before we found Hasten

2. When Hasten does spawn, all you have to do is stand on the black patch of ground and wait for him to run by. Click on him and hail him and he will stop and run to you. I did this with an Erudite Enchanter with just a sow on, so there is no need to "chase him down". Just be quick with your index finger and hail him.

Killing only the undead in the desert and nothing else has worked well in getting him to spawn.

Yes, kill all the undead you see, he USUALLY spawns between 10pm and 6am game time. Me and a guildie killed only undead and spawned him within an hour, real time. He is an easy kill, I took him down as a 35 mage, just a few nukes, he has around 1k hps.

This morning, I zoned into OOT to test my new fire pet on the Seafuries, & what do I see but the Ancient Cyclops, & nobody near him. What-ho, I say, & his precious ring is now mine mine mine =)

Gotta love, no camping needed, & now I'm off to get my Jbooties =)

I was heading to OOT to start my shaman epic and I saw AC. Dont really need the boots (with sow and shew) but i killed it any ways. Gunna multi quest the boots for a friend. I suggest not really trying to camp it just check everyonce and a while.
Sro is the best place IMO.

Ive spawned the AC in Sro now 19 times (one of them Fabled). Killed him 12 or 13 times of those spawns. Kind easy now but like one of the recents posts about killing what if out of the ordinary is what works for me. I keep a special eye out for "an asp", "a rattlesnake" and "a giant rattlesnake".
Can't believe it

Ok, set out to South Ro. I killed pretty much anything that moved. 37 Necro. Here's what I noticed:

I got sand giants (5), Hussein, and AC spawns RIGHT after killing the necro down by the undead altar. Maybe coincidence, maybe not. Also I made it a point to kill every "odd" named spawn that I saw ie. Madman, asp, Crypt Mummy, etc. due to rumors and boredom.

Anyway, I do this for near 3 hours and after killing the necro I turn around to med, and boom I see him. I had been alone in the zone for the entire time except for maybe 5 passersby going to LDoN.

So I get 40m, enough to keep him snared, feared and VoS'd and I run over to him only to see life at 60% 8(. I do a /who and lo and behold, there's now a level 65 druid and 65 cleric in zone, guess who is killing him?

Well, I come up and start in on them, saying Ive been forcing spawn for 3 hours which I had (thinking theyre gonna MQ with an alt, which they prolly would have if I hadn't spoke up). Anyway, they say if it's just the ring, you can have it. I think sweet!...

He also dropped this ring in addition to jboots ring:

FABLED Ring of the Ancients:
AC 6
Dex 6
Sta 6
Int 5
Wis 5
HP 40
Mana 40
Endur 40
Wt. 2
All/all
Lore/No drop

And they let me have that too 8). So I went from being near to kill someone for "ganking" something I worked for, to eternally grateful to Danyena and Khaelina on Rasp. You guys are aces in my book.

Thanks guys 8). Now on to kill some shadowed men.

Hello, that's called KSing. The AC in south ro is not a camp it's a free mob and anyone can kill it. Just because you were there all day trying to make him spawn doesnt give you any right to claim him as yours.

Its not KSing from what i read, to me its sounds like he asked if they would mind if he could snag it for personal use and they obliged him in the ring.

Pre Kunark I tried the South Ro one for weeks. One day as usual I give up. Gate with my wizard and what do you know. What do I see running at me when I was loading? Yeah. The AC. I wish I had noticed but I gated and wasn't paying attention. Noticed it on the load screen a few minutes later on my slow compaq. By the time I got back to South Ro of course he was killed. Go to OOT is my best advice if you want them. South Ro just sucks.

Just got him to spawn after almost 5 hours. I had no problem killing him being a level 41 Iksar Beastlord.

#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 22 2004 at 11:38 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) AC island is the one just after you port in from Freeport, whichever way you wish to have it look at the docks from where you come in turn around and that's the island...Anyways the spawn occurs at the tip of the island and then wanders up and cross the top of the hill(where the merchant is)down the other side looks like a crossing guard looking from side to side before wandering back and de-spawning. This camp is 100% random, I have MQ'd over30 pairs over the years max camp time was 36hrs(lots of caffine and lots of sleep after) to as little as 3 spawns after an Ancient Cyclops pops. I myself have J-boots on most my toons from Mage, to Rogue and soon getting for my lower alts Bard and Shaman. SoW wears off when you are being chased pretty hard to stop and recast SoW if at 10% life but click a J Boots and weeeee you are running again. As for Bard, no indoor song yet so self speed is a bard best friend.

Of course you can't re-cast JBoots indoors. So your bard will have "indoor SoW" for a maximum of 18 minutes. (When JBoots effects wears off.)
finally got this guy after weeks of camping

Today I got the AC I had my 38 druid and 28 mage with me for a little extra dps. Well I got the AC to spawn after 20 mins I egaged him He resisted my root 2 times and when I did get it to stick he would quickly break it. I nuked him a few times with furry or air for 250 hps got him down to 20% when I ran out of mana he quickly killed me when snare and root wore off. Then killed my mage with no problem. I then ported myself back to south ro and to my suprise he was still up I killed him got the ring and I am MQ the boots for my mage right now.

OK im a 37 wizard who has been unlucky at finding the AC after numerous trips to Sro and OOT. SO yesterday my buddy sends me a tell he has gotten AC that morning after a 3 hours camp and finished the quest. Oh that hurt. SO i ask him to join me and help me get them and he says ok he has to log in 30 min meet him in Sro.

I port into Nro and hike south, in oasis i draw aggro from 2 orc who i easily kill but they take half my HP and 60% mana. Whatever ill regen in Sro.

I enter SRo lo and behold the AC does exist he was standing in front of me and i was the only one in the zone i killed nothing. I tell my friend to get over here ASAP while i hold the AC.
I drink a SoW potion which i saved just for this and root. I hold him for about 3-4 min taking a few hits and when my friend shows (39 chanter) we take him down easy .

We get rapier and look for HB we find him in 10 min stuck at the legs of a cyclops. He is stuck in and endless loop my friend draws him away and Jboots are mine

I had given up on this bad boy years ago, when I was KS'd by the DE merchants and the GM's only reply was "it happens some times". Then on leap day, I was running around SoRo to kill undead (for my cleric) and i saw sand giant husain (however its spelled) on the west side of teh zone. I decided to try to get some ro sand (for my pally) and then i saw the giant homer simpson as I came over a dune. I check the zone and there were 15 people, most over 50, so i knew i had no time to waist even though i was at 55%. I rushed him and my first strike was a 216 back stab. During the fight i was able to fear him TWICE! which made for an easy fight. he died when i had 52% left. :) Ive played the game since day 3 (lived overseas at the time, so i had to wait for delivery) and now I've compleated one of my goals in teh game. I was litterly shaking when he finaly died. :)

Could the ancient cyclops spawning in Karana be connected in any way to the Undead Cyclops and 'a cyclops' that both spawn there as well??

All I can say is I started this quest with as much information as I could find on getting the AC to spawn. I spent 3 - 5 hours a day the first week camping, killing various mobs, looking for patterns and generally having very little success--by which I mean NO success--at getting the one-eyed wonder to pop.

Then, in the next three days I went to S Ro for less than an our each day and walked away with a ring each time. *shrugs* I can't really account for this because it was different every time: one was early morning, another just after dark and one even in broad daylight! I had killed ghouls, spiders, asps, madmen and SG's in differing quantities on each successful spawn. I have to believe that until I've had about 200 or 300 successful repetitions of spawning the AC, there can't be anything but random chance at work here...

here's a a screenshot: http://pages.sbcglobal.net/thehardemans/images/AC.jpg
and another to prove it was ME:

Good luck camping the Ancient One.
