Ok listen up 'tards. AC is a random spawn from desert trash--kill it all he will pop at some point. Ok it's RANDOM--understand that. It does not matter the game time, the amount of playes, if stuff in undead tower is killed. It's RANDOM. And for the IDIOTS that believe the tower mob or game time has anything to do with this your are truly tard-o-licions. At the time Verant--now Sony--designed these zones there was NEVER a game time component to spawns.

And, Don't EVER Forget Cragon IS AN IDIOT!

You know the funny thing? A dev released some of the code showing night spawning for the AC.

Man, if you ever show back up (seems like you do from time to time based on the edits), I want to be the first to say "the tard is strong within you"...

just finished doing this guy twice... thank you for previous posters info...

used a 65 druid, could track the entire desert... used my pet as a marker on the track window.

i don't know what the undead tower has to do with the tea in china, but i kept it empty. i found the regular dune tarantula's don't seem to be tied to anything, but i killed 'em anyways ;)

i kept the 4-spawns dead (terrortantulings (commonly) , desert tarantulas (commonly), pumas (twice), shriveled mummies (once)). mostly, i noticed, was that there was always 1 singular mob in the desert (by singular i mean only 1 up at a time): a crypt mummy, a sand mummy, a shriveled mummy, a rattlesnake, a cistern asp, a jackal, a zombie, a dervish cutthroat (no capitals like the regulars). i kept those killed as well and in both cases, the ancient cyclops spawned within the first eq night of me logging on.

only saw 3 sand giants, and 1 named giant... there's also a named zombie wandering out there who doesn't like dots or can be rooted/snared :D (dark blue at 65)

perhaps coincidence. i don't know, but if you're only in need of 1 ring, s'all good ;) i will say that after i got the 1st ring, the cyclops didn't spawn the rest of the RL evening for me.

I have not, although I should imagine that it would work as normal until the turn in, when you'd lose everything you gave Hasten and get the message that duplicate lore items are not allowed.

Oh, YES they ARE LORE. So you would lose them on the second attempt to turn them in. They can be multi quested. Ive done that over a dozen times myself.

The J-boots were multiquestable at one time. During the Kunark expansion, my rl bro askd me to come over and keep hailing the guy in Rathe Mtns so he could do part of the turn-in with his ranger then /camp out then he logged his low lvl cleric on the same account back in and did the final turn-in. His cleric got the boots. I haven't tried since then to multiquest them so I dunno if it still works.

My 55 necro, Ashantres, got the JBoots long ago... and tried to MQ for a monk i'd become friends with. Upon turning in the ring before she turned in rapier and gold... ARG !K! got a 2nd pair, which didnt please either of us. So now there's a back up set in bank for CR's.... which was pretty useful till Guild Hall happened and made CR's a bad memory. Lore ? maybe now.. but she's stil got both pairs so i'd guess only teh new ones are lore if any are.

Have one problem with the statement of low amount of players in the zone in order for the AC to spawn. Ive seen for myself at least a dozen AC's pop WHILE raids were forming at the wizard spires. So Im 100 percent sure you are wrong with amount of players in zone to effect the spawn. The rest of you statement I would have to try it myself to discount it, but in my 20 times of getting the AC to spawn myself I didnt kill any mobs in the tower and had him spawn in all areas of the sand at any time during the game day.

Nice info there!
I didn't kill anything unnecessary (don't have much mana to work with in the first place on my 40druid). I ported to S.Ro, no AC on track... I killed any terror-lings that happened to be up. Then I waited until 8pm game time and killed the skelly in the undead tower. Waited about 5-8 minutes then ran around tracking. After a bit, 4 terror-lings spawned. I started killing them. After the third one was dead and I had aggro on the last, the AC spawned! I was hanging at negative mana so I quickly logged my bf's druid on for some help. I rooted the spider and got aggro on the AC. Snare/Root, sit for enough mana for my baby dot. Got his druid there and epic-dott'd and started nukin the crap outta him. He resisted A LOT. took about 20 nukes and the dot to kill him. Looted the ring so I can MQ it for my bf's rogue. He'll be happy!

I spent maybe 2 hours hunting in the desert. I killed a couple of giants and that Moldrak guy twice. I cleared out the sunken tower. Nothing. So I gated, hunted elsewhere for awhile, then ran back to SRo. Another person, a froggie, sends me a tell to come to loc such-and-such. Bingo! Dead ancient one-eyed guy right there! Sweet. I get the ring and thank my fellow countrymen before opening a silver bullet and callin it quits. Me so tired.

Alright, Im going to tell you what we did as of 2/3/05, 10:30 real time.

Let me set the scene. It's just me and my friend Rygor, in Sro. People come in and out. I am a 36 mage, he is a 23 Warrior. We simply did the following, all times are in game time:

5pm-9pm: Random killings, spiders, undead, everything
9pm: The necro at the tower is up, kill him, then kill "crypt mummy" inside the tower
9pm-10pm: Random killings, killed necro and mummy in tower once more each.
11pm: Terrantula spawns, he is whooping our butts, luckily some guildies were in the zone so they came and killed it.
2am: I look over the hill just north of the tents, and low and behold, a giant cyclops running around with a spear. We simply meleed it to death, since I couldnt land a single nuke. He was very easy. When he was at 10% though, a sand giant came up and started hitting us, this is a problem. The AC is easy, but the giants are too strong for us. I run like hell, Rygor stays back, kills the AC, loots the ring, and sprints to Oasis, I gate out and we live to fight again. Now we are off to do the turn in.

MY SUGGESTIONS
--Kill any spiders, undead, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, the guys at the sunken tower. Feel free to kill other things too, not sure if they are related or not
--We did not kill a single giant
--We killed the Terr. once
--Killed 2 Terr.-ings
--Spawned AC, simple as that.

I hope this is helpful, this is my second time killing this bugger. Now I need to do it twice more and Im done with him forever. Wish me luck.

--Side note, this is the same thing I did the first time I spawned him, stick with this and you should get him in no time, took us about 1-2hrs real time to get the job done.--

Another note, OOT pathing and spawns are screwed up on all servers, everyone, I suggest you report this bug to get it fixed.

Follow up:

Rygor still has his ring, too lazy to get on and finish the quest, hehe.

I was trying to sell a stack of dyes one day, after auctioning for WTS, I offered to trade them to someone who would help me spawn and kill the AC, for my necro's boots.

Lucky me, a guy sends me a tell, and we head to Sro, during conversation I mentioned the item was called "Ring of the Ancients," to my suprise, the guy says his dad's character has a ring and he will MQ it for me, /cheer.

Long story short, I got the boots, he got the dyes, its been a good week for me. =)

there is deffinately somethin wrong with OOT. i have gone several times to take out the big lizzy but everything in the zone is acting very strange. and today wanted to try spawning the AC but the PH was just walking back and forth in the same path. until this is fixed i wouldn't even bother fighting in OOT as nothing spawns correctly or reacts correctly

fabled ripp-off
# Jan 17 2005 at 5:59 PM Rating: Decent
As a rogue, I used to hunt in South Ro a lot for poison supplies. I would kill everything in site to get more of the right spawns for poison drops. I would have to agrre that just killing everything in the zone is your best bet to spawn the AC as I have seen it spawn many times while farming.
As a side note, I wanted to farm the Fabled Journeyman's boots so I figured you have to hunt the fabled AC to get the fabbled ring of the AC and then turn it into bootstrutter to get the "fabled journeyman's boots". Well this was not the case..seems the quest was not so fabled and you had to camp the fabled boots in Najena or somewhere.......what a rip off
RE: fabled ripp-off
# Feb 06 2005 at 9:42 PM Rating: Good
To explaine what Aldez is talking about. Originaly the boots dropped in Najena back in mid 1999. It was noticed by Verant that these and also Rubicite armor in CT where being exploited and so they turned this into a quest when they launched the Fear portal in an event called the Week of War. This also changed Kithcor woods.

If you knew the fable you would have understood.

good job at not knowing the original way of getting jboots
RE: fabled ripp-off
# Jan 18 2005 at 3:53 PM Rating: Decent
What I don't understand is why would anyone want to run around a zone killing everything, which for most people I would assume are green and therefore give no xp, to spawn a mob that could pop anywhere. I guess if you are a tracker you don't have to run around in circles trying to find the AC, but you still have to kill alot of mobs. All I'm saying is that the camp in ocean of tears is fixed, spawns repop every couple of minutes, and unless you're on a red server you can just sit back and relax between spawns...or go kill the sirens on the next island over which give decent xp through the 50's. For those reasons alone, why would anyone want to camp south ro?
RE: fabled ripp-off
# Aug 24 2005 at 1:55 AM Rating: Decent
I've always wondered the same thing myself. I've gotten about 5 or 6 jboots over the years for various characters, and always in the ocean of tears. I usually just make a day of it, some lazy sunday that I don't feel like doing much, log in and camp the sucker for the day. All this, kill such and such at x game time and track for such and such to pop seems really hokey. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't, but seems like a lot of hassle for an item that still isn't as good as just keeping yourself well stocked with SoW potions. Glad to know it's not just me.

Sro AC will depop at 5 am unless he is aggro on someone. Sorry to poke holes in what you said but I've killed the Sro AC 13 times that I can remember for sure and every time was at night. There is a trick to spawning him, I've done it with killing as few as 5 to 10 mobs in the zone but it all has to happen before 5am. I won't even give a hint how since I hate seeing stuff nerfed.

Sorry to poke holes in your story but I killed the AC in the middle of the day not at night. Also I can't believe you killed him 13 times and it was all at night. There is no significance to any mob as far as the AC is concerned. There is no relationship to any mob being up and the AC spawning. The AC will depop anyway if he has not been aggroed after a certain amount of time; 5 am has nothing to do with it.

One thing I noticed. The common mummy's there are "A Crypt Mummy" "A Sand Mummy" and "A Shreiveled Mummy" but in that triangle thing on the East side of the sand, occasionally I will see a mob called
"Crypt Mummy" without the "A". I NEVER see this mob wandering around. When it is up it is in that triangle thing. Might there be any significance to this or is it just a named mob?

Ok, for anyone who is working on this mob, heres some tips..

The AC is a pain in the ***** ill give you that. When I was 46 and without my KEI spell i needed a little extra pp, and someone told me to MQ this. So, i run into zone and wait. and wait. ad wait. 12 hours of camping was fruitless. The next day I log back in and who is up, but the AC. I kill him, loot the ring, and go to the shadowed men. After catching bootstrutter (not an easy task for a chanter!) I go on back, happy with the 3k i just made, and there he is again! So, once again I kill him, and I do this for a week making a little over 40K off him. Not bad!

Tips: Hes seems to spawn mostly late at nite. I saw no connection between him and undead, but the necro at the tower does seem to effect his spawn if killed early in the night. Good luck with this!

I've attempted to camp this mob several times over the last year or two for various alts with no success. Usually I play at night and on the weekends, and on RZ any camp turns into a pvp match and higher lvl players always steal camps away from greens. Finally, I had a weekday free and logged on really early around 5:30am EST, and with two hours of camping free from other players the AC spawned for me. So, for those who said to camp on weekday mornings the advice is well deserved.
RE: Finally
# Jan 15 2005 at 9:31 AM Rating: Decent

Just curious, because I come from a "blue" or "carebear" (lame etc whatever) server, but, why in God's name would you want to subject yourself to that extra headache (playing on pvp) in the first place? Head case player characters are a big enough nuisance on blue servers, I couldn't imagine giving them trenchcoat mafia teenagers any more power to disrupt your game.
RE: Finally
# Jan 15 2005 at 9:37 PM Rating: Default
I don't know about that guy, but I started playing on RZ because I couldn't devote the kind of time to raiding that I used to, and for me blue wasn't fun without raiding.
RE: Finally
# Jan 18 2005 at 4:01 PM Rating: Decent
I do not raid and I'm not in a guild. What I enjoy is the pvp found on a red server and because of that I need certain instant click items to avoid being debuffed. While you could try to purchase an MQ for these, I don't trust anybody on a red server...even if they have an "anti" tag. So, that means if I want an instant click for my alt then I have to head over to OOT, or kill Grachnist in WW, or Legionnaires in LoIO. While it is a pain, and can be rather risky at lower levels, the rewards for having a clicky on RZ far outweigh the risks to earn one.
OoT AC spawn
# Oct 15 2004 at 8:51 PM Rating: Decent
I zoned into OoT from Freeport with my 59 Beastlord to do some Seafury hunting for the cash. I checked the zone in case someone else might already be on Seafury Island but there was no one in the zone but me. I had Lev and Sow and immediatly set out for Seafury Island. As I reached the island where Gornit lives I noticed my pet didn't have Sow and was far behind me so I sat down to med a bit and let my pet catch up when some ogre named Goob Mudtoe starts trying to beat on me. He lasts about the amount of time it takes for my pet to arrive so I buff my pet and sit down for a quick med and again something starts beating on me. Turns out to be the Ancient Cyclops. A quick check of the zone shows that there is still no one else in it but me. The only mob I killed was Goob. So now I have a 59 beastlord with the ring. Go figure. Think I'll go sit on the Gnoll hill in South Karana next.

# Oct 13 2004 at 2:50 PM Rating: Decent
After 3 days, and countless hours, I'm going to come to the conclusion that I can't find AC in south ro. I've killed endless amounts of mobs of all different kinds, and still nothing. Over 9 Sand Giants and 2 Hussan named Giants, and still nothing.

At this point, I'm over here in OOT camping here. So far I've got 3 of the regular Cyclops and 2 pirates. We'll see how long I'll be here for.
