Three known spawn locations (accurate as of the March 10, 2010, patch):

1) -354, +1796, -213 (next to the little ditch Trag spawns in)

2) In the tunnels, at -582, 1525, -170

3) In the group of burynai by the northwest tunnel that connects the starfish-shaped burynai area to the cliknar caves in the west)

Merl "burrows into the ground" during the fight, reappearing a short distance away and usually summoning the tank to the new location. He does this multiple times (particularly how often is not known).

Tunneled at random HP for me. Another thing I didn't see posted is that each time he pops back up out of the ground he hits you with a DD spell. Was hitting me for more then 10k each time that's with about 25 spell shield. This is all from memory. Keep him by his spawn point and it shouldn't be that hard. One final thing that is when I tried to molo him on my monk, I had to FD because I couldn't take him. Even though I used my agro dropping FD he stayed at spawn point, but every 30 seconds or so I got hit with his DD spell while I was FD. I am 100% sure I had no agro as there were no mobs in my extended target list. It was just a bug where he continued to use his DD spell though he was still at spawn just sitting there. Needless to say he sent me back to my spawn point after a few of those 10k dd's, I got up and tried to run, he didn't follow me but his DD kept nailing me.

Spawn point was -582, 1525, -170. Fought him at his spawn point, had no problems. He would disappear the reappear right on top of me, warrior kept aggro no problem. He did start burrowing right away, so it seems time based on engage, has nothing to do with % hp.

Maybe this got bugged by whoever tried to kill him the last time, but for us he started burrowing at 98%.

Hrm, and the second attempt he started burrowing on the pull (no damage). If this is as intended, then yeesh.

I have been sneaking around The Foundation lately, and found Merl up in 2 different spots the last couple days.

First time I saw him, was over by the loc I found Trag at, loc -354, +1796, -213. He was next to the little ditch Trag had been in.

Today when I logged in, he was in the group of burnyai by the NW tunnel, connecting the starfish shaped room tothe last room on left of map.

Sure am glad i didn't try to kill the bugger after reading these posts.

How hard does it hit, and what does it cast?

At around 30% he will start 'running' (tunneling underground) back to his spawn point while popping up and summoning every so often. If you have pets they will follow him while he is underground and stop when he's about to surface. Nothing too difficult if you have dps and the area from his spawn to the tunnel above is clear. We downed him a few times today.

Have the issues with this mob been fixed with the recent patch? The Hive Nurse was having similar problems of running off and summoning/bugging out-- creating a situation that isn't very appealing for players to attempt.

What problem are you running into specifically? What error do you see? What OS and version do you use (e.g., Windows XP Pro, Windows 7, etc.)?

Vista 64? Then you need the updated Win PCap.

If you still can't get it to work, you can also try linking stuff in certain serverwide channels. I think serverwide.eqtraders has alot of people using lucy. I know there are some in serverwide.sk:sk, as well as others. Seems like there's another one often suggested for linking, but I can't seem to remember it at the moment.

This mob is bugged, he does dig underground and has a nasty habit of coming up and summoning people to him, only problem we found is that when he fleas he digs as well, not trackable when he is underground.

We killed him but it was to a dot and he died while underground so we were unable to loot as no corpse could be found......

Excellent work on this mob....

What a nightmare. This mob "digs" underground like every 10 seconds. This was not too bad at the start. Each time it would come back and nuke the warrior and repeat. Until it decided to dig father away each time. And then start summoning players into other mobs.


We didnt last long after that. Too tired to try again, but maybe if you pull it into one of the smaller tunnels it can't go so far.


Perhaps this mob shouldn't summon....

nope, tried this for 6+ hours. positioning at the wall, and / or at the dead end near his camp does not work. he apparently digs around the walls lol. freaking horrible mob "nightmare" is exactly what this mob is. this especially does not work with merc's and if you dont have a bard to fade off you wont be pulling this mob lol. even a bard has trouble at that.
