This post applies only to those <a large plague rat> found in Befallen.

For an idea of their HPs, I randomly killed 10 of these from all over the zone. One on one, strictly melee damage, went as follows:

1 - 215
2 - 219
3 - 252
4 - 195
5 - 194
6 - 217
7 - 210
8 - 214
9 - 234
10 - 229

So they have on average 220 HPs, give or take depending upon level I assume.
Plague Rats

When fighting one with a lvl 15 paladin I was giving it a good go till it got to 50% then it seemed to heal itself or something because I was losing health and it was staying at around 50% and kept rising to 55% and then down to 45% then back up again. It was majorly annoying and ended up zoning because I was dying and it was staying the same, anyone know why?

Me being a uneducated newbie requiring help!!

Cheers guys

White pelts

I've gotten white No Drop pelts off the plague rats in Steamfont. Has anyone else got them?

I've got eyes, pelts, and teeth across 2 continants that are no drop but serve no purpose to date. Looks like they are lining up a new barrage of (armor) quests.

There is a quest for the livers. Collect 10 and return them to a gnome on Akanon. Look up the quest page to find it. I think it is the air tight box quest. Either way it is a ALL class quest

How do you get a cure for the plague they carry?! It lasts forever. The cruddy thing is I don't even know when I got hit, it never came up on my scroll :(

My LV 8 Ranger has been fighting near the LFay zone, and these things are a pain in the neck. They have a real bad habit of joining a fight in process. I was on my way to killing a black con Young Ebon Drake (It was down to a sliver of health, I had 1 1/2 bubbles left). Next thing I see is "You have killed a Young Ebon Drake".. "You have been hit by a Large Plague Rat for 22 points".. "You have been diseased".. I died on the way to the zone. This happened three times! (Once with drake, twice with Brittle Skeletons)
Use for rats

If you are going to be hunting in Steamfont for any length of time, suggest you go insult Larkin Therodor (spelling?) behind the Library Mechamagicia and get the AirTight Box quest. That way, you can collect the Diseased Rat Livers these things drop, and when you get 10, turn them in for faction (and some small coin that won't matter to anyone who can fight a L.P. Rat). In other words, turn the aggressive nature of these beasts against them and gain some experience from being swarmed by green trash.

I was camping minotaurs in the steamfonts, and every time a rat got near the battle, it joined in. I conned them, and they were all green. Very annoying when engaged in battle with a real enemy like a minotaur. Pathetic loot as well.
Eek a rat!

This disease can last as much as 30 real time minutes, so look for a cure. At one time these rats used to belong to Meldrath as they shared that faction. But several months ago Steamfont got a faction overhaul and the skeletons and rats no longer belong to him. Very hostile creatures.

Large plague rats are good exp, but easily one of the most annoying fights in Steamfont for a level 8-11. They train skeletons and vice versa, but they also cast disease often enough for it to be a real problem. This disease lasts for about five minutes, an during that time health regrowth is stagnant.

They might be good xp, but they can kill you with disease.
