I was using my lvl 20 monk fighting a Centaur Foal. Thanks to my lag, out of now where I was hit in 4 seconds, 70,67,74,52 damage. All I see is a Charger hitting me. I start to run with no SOW, with 200 hp left. Then I take look back, because they were not hitting me anymore, and they should have been, because there faster then me .Then I see the Charger break off me, and starts atacking the Centaur Foal. There was not a other person around, did not see a chanter. I just though it was funning that there were fighting each other. To bad I did not stay and watch to long, I ran off to zone before the Centaur charger killed the foal, and come back at me
Bug is not fixed as of today. I just got one too many on my patoot and had to zone. Came back in immediately and of the two that had chased me zone line, stronger one was smokin the weaker ...
I noticed that too, a obviosly now repaired bug that showed up in OCT. I had a archer snared and in comes another one. I'm thinking Oh craggies I don't have enough mana for both. Lo and behold he attacks the other cent AND KSs ME!!! then a 5 second pause and he charges me.
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry after I stopped screaming GET AWAY GET AWAY as I broke for zone.
It was a intersting bug but it appears fixed as I a now getting assaulted as normal.
Lol, I've seen them do that too. All the centaurs will attack each other - there's not much species loyalty there. If I'm fighting one & get too many adds, I'll just back off & try to draw one into the arrows of the other. That'll usually set them against each other, giving me some time to rest.
If you're planning on meleeing these guys, you can expect to get hit pretty hard on occasion. My shaman friend and I were camping the centaurs to spawn the chargers, and I recall getting hit for 72 HPs on a few charger blows. Also they will fire off arrows at you if you are far enough away during your pull.
Regarding the location of the charger spawn, we found a charger spawns in the northmost building just inside the door to the right. We cleared the entire building multiple times and all three chargers we faced that night seemed to appear at this spot.
We killed more than a few centaurs and got no faction messages. We were even able to walk up to the centaur merchant and buy from him after killing other centaurs not far away, even without zoning first or anything. I was suprised by the decent loot dropped by the lesser centaur given their level. Some centaurs drop ringmail, gems, and occasionally a couple platinum.

I soloed this bad boy at his home(centaur village) I camped at the outer edge of the village towards the empty stables. There are 2 spawn points one at the fire pit at the center of the village, the other close to the empty stables. made sure that the centaurs inside the to building to the left and right of the empty stables are green(therefore will not aggro on me when I pull). I first pull the one thats at the empty stables straight out from the village(so he wouldn't go back and get his bosses the Meadowgreen brothers when I get his HP low). After I killed the one that spawns at stables I med up and went for the one at the centet fire pit. Pull to the same direction(away from the Meadowgreen brothers) building. Each spawn is a few minutes long so I can kill the 2 spawns in turn without too much problems.
Chargers are semi rare spawn. If you kill enough of the centuars it will spawn eventually. I killed 6 centaurs of various lvls and got one to spawn killed it and was lucky to get the chips right away (although this was the 4th charger I killed and is the 1st that dropped the chips. others were killed when they passed me at other times while I was in the zone)
I am a 33 shaman, so chargers are not too tough. just root dot dot dd dd dd and that should do it. just make sure to reroot when it breaks. If you want enought time to cast you can throw in a slow in there, just dont meele with it, it hits fairly hard (around 60s) and make sure you fight with a little distance away from the centaur village they will go back for help when they are low in HP.
The only thing that would be of any concern is that one of the Meadowgreen brothers will wonder outside the building and park near the fire pit for a while and then go back. Make sure you dont aggro him.
BEWARE! this is a tough mob that can NOT be killed with a group of low 20's. my group tried this, and ALL DIED! he hits for 74, and we tried him again and survived ONLY because our cleric was at fm. he used up all his mana healing tanks, and main tank still got hurt down to 1 bub of health! so dont go around with your group just killing all the centaurs that walk by, check the name first. BEWARE!
This mob spawn in centaur stables. I camped him for three days, killed most centaurs near the fire, and got him spawn for five times. Unfortunately, no chip on any of them, :(. I will keep camping him till I get the hoof chip anyway, since no other place that you can kill the mobs and sell their loot back to their boss, hehe. BTW, the hoof chip is absolutely NOT a COMMON drop
I was able to kill two of these as a 35 shm...no chips...the third resisted my root, and proceeded to ignore my pet and kick the crap out of me...I had to gate out...I'll try them again when i'm level 40ish...I dont need the vambraces that bad
Hehe, oops. Anyway, if yer after this guy before yer at least lvl 30, ye might wanna be in a group especially with a cleric. This guy hits hard for his level. At 28 he wrecked me and a 25 ranger twice until we got our kiting technique down right. Then the dirty sob only dropped that worthless bow and a few arrows. He resisted a lot at 28, but I guess that's to be expected. If yer a shaman and yer after the Vambraces, ye might wanna put this guy on the back burners until at least lvl 30.
These guys hit hard, for shaman after hoofs best to Malise, then root dot dot then med outside arrow range. Rinse and repeat, MR and PR seems low so use that to your advantage.
I was hunting in S Karana with two guildmates looking all over for this bugger. We never found him. I was at the time a level 22 druid with Track and he never showed up on it. Is he a rare spawn?
Not too rare i mainly see the guy in my travels but i have spent hours camping and he not spawn so yes kinda rare, u need the chips he drops and he aint all that hard ive killed it easy im lvl 40 ranger so with my track he aint hard to find
me and my guild were camping South spire when he just walked right up to us -- he was red so we killed him just for xp -- a friend said that if he had chips the shammys should roll -- they are supposed to be rare but he dropped on first and only encounter of the day -- might just be my luck because the first time i camped warlord he dropped th Bracer of Battle on the first try too =)
These Never aggro, but aviaks have, also these guys are more a mis con than aviaks... I can't solo them yet, but I do take coursers, and they are much harder than harriers..
Heres the dilly-the cents start and stay at indifferent,so if you are walking and they are walking then your cool, but if you drop your guard(sit down to med,loot,etc..,)then MOST mobs in the game will aggro regardless of level and con. my recomendation is to not sit around in the middle of a zone with lots of wandering and in some cases dangerous mobs
Before last night, I would have agreed that centaurs never aggro. I've been at the NK bridge many times when trains of centaurs chased players out of South Karana. Always, the centaurs left the bridge quietly and peacefully after the fleeing player zoned (or died).
Not last night. I had just killed a lion up above the bridge a ways. I was looting it when a charger ran up and killed me in two hits. (It would have taken him three if I hadn't just fought an even lion.)
It was so unexpected and so unusual, I petitioned. The guide I got said it was a common occurrence. That isn't true, of course, but perhaps there was a kernel of truth in what he said. Maybe it does happen now and then. It certainly happened last night, and Verant's representative said it wasn't a bug.
I've been attacked (and killed once by a courser) several times both in wolf-form and as woodelf. I was attacked the other nite after a sheltie (I was medding) walked through my group, which included a troll. I've become cautious and con all centaurs. They usually con indifferent, but....be wary.

These are very very tough suckers. At level 30 (druid) there is no way to kill one solo unless you kite it for a 40 minutes. Reccomend you use a group of at least 2-3 levels 25-30.
40 minutes...you sure you dont mean 4. Me (25 shaman at the time) and a 34 druid dropped 3 of these guys. All in under 2 minutes each. We got the chips on the third one.
I think it would be quite interesting for a couple of enchanters to charm a couple of chargers and send them after a cyclops. I suspect the 'clops would win, but maybe not, or maybe not always. Chargers are indeed tough. And it would be interesting to watch.
Running around South Karana are these punks. They tend to hit hard and drop weak bows. But if your lucky you can get the Charger Hoof Chips, perfect for making Totemic Vambraces.

I'm a druid, level 31, and I've been soloing these guys with ease for 1 and a half levels now (I started soloing these guys at 30). There is NO WAY it takes 40 minutes to kite them. It actually takes about 60 to 90 seconds to kite them (90 seconds is ideal, as your longest DoT will stop working at this time). I kill them in that amount of time and generally have half my hitpoints gone and all but 1 bubble of mana gone. The most damage I've ever taken from one of their arrows was 22, but they CRUSH me if they close for melee, so keep your distance!
