I am a lvl 30 druid and just love to kite these. Becuase the arrows usually do very little dmg you can kite two to three at once. Here is how. Centaurs do not break root very often I usually have to recast my creeping Crud on them before I do a reroot. So I cast root on one then my DoT then snare. Run away a little cast the same set on another centaur. Just run out of range of their arrows and sit down and med. You med up all your mana the go get another one. By now you most likely need to recast your DoT or root. run around and cast again then just run outside the arrow range and med. Next thing you know you get three yellow lines poping up saying you just got experiance and you still have a ton of mana left. At 30 the experiance isnt awesome but it isnt bad either. Plus since you are kiting many MoBs at once you never really stop so there is little down time. Added bonus you can make a quick 100pp pretty fast selling the armor and gems that are droped.
I love hunting centaur archers but prefer the befriending trick since I'm only 23 using elephants and sicing them on the centaurs.
This does give a certain tactical advantage. If another centaur wanders into argo it will come after you either way but the one you were targeting is still working on the pet so you only have to worry about the new one and can apply the kiting trick there or simply run. Using bull elephants also means you can weaken the centaur faster, break your befriend spell and kill the bull, let the DOT work and get the exp/loot for both. You just have to be more attentive if you try this and also kite another centaur or two.
An yah loot is really good even if you get weighted down quickly. I've had to gate to banks just to unload my coins several times in a night just so I could walk normally =P
I've dropped a couple of centaurs in my visits to the southern plains, and never did I take a faction hit. They remain indifferent to me despite my attacks. However, killing wolves and bears will reduce your faction without alterting you after the battle, it just kind of happens. Maybe, there is a sort of hidden faction change.
When figting with an earth pet, nuke the guy with big bolt then have pet run in for the kill. Don't waste mana on Fireshield, cause they hit hard not quick. When pet meets mob, go around the side and nuke again. Then it will aggro on u, run over your pet a few times, it will aggro on pet, then keep doing this till dead... I am 22 lvl Magician and take on Yellow cons 90% of the time with 50% life and 20% mana, with pet at 20%.
At no point should your pet be engaged with ANYTHING without a Damage Shield of some sort cast on it. At Level 22 our Rank Three Fire Shield will hit for 6 and, relatively speaking, cost a negligible amount of mana. Remember, DS's at ALL TIMES!
At lvl 21-24 I was able solo these as a druid, just snare run duck behind a tree then wind blast till they close, then run and duck again, this way those arrows will never stop you from casting only hit you while running between trees. I plan doing the Cent's the same way. Very esy way to lvl up. Also loot on these have been 0-3pp also they drops some med ringmail, and drop those rare words that ppl pay high prices for. just my to 2cp on these.
I was able to travel through SK safely before the patch on Good Friday, the day they were patching for RoK. In fact I was able to sell at the cent's village. Now I, an Agnostic Erudite Mage, am KOS to these bad boys. Did they add a racial hatered? Is there any factions that I may have damaged? I have killed one, and only one centaur (aiding someone from death).
Note to Blaede(and others who just turned 25) once you hit 25 con messages change and everything 1-7 levels below you is blue and "looks quite formidable"
I'm a 24 SK and they con blue to me as well. Solo'd with HT and without......I won with HT, the other time I was lucky to have sow and be near the bridge.
