I am a lvl34 magician.. I spend my time running from these even through some are blue.. I have seen a red one, Could a poor gnome magician like me solo a blue one using the nuke and run while my pet chasese it tactic or would it beat my little body to a pulp?

For all of you spouting off about killing blows. More often than not, once an NPC enters a fight, whatever the NPC is fighting will "poof" when one of the gets killed. it's just like taking a kill when there are lots of people fighting...unless you or your group does 50%+ dmg, you will NOT get the kill, and it will poof. In fact, i've had instances where the NPC guards have done less than 50% dmg and I still did not get the kill. The final blow thing does not matter. (ie, try to fight a griffin after it's almost dead from a fight with guards...and it will likely poof when you kill it).
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 03 2000 at 9:54 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) conned and killed a griff last night in WC that was yellow to me at level 30, so that griff was max of 32??? others were red, so they aren't fixed at level 37.
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 01 2000 at 7:07 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) So if I run around offing bixies, griffs will spawn? cool.
These things rock

I was in wc one time when i see a griff go to the guard booth,he killed them both and still had half life, then it went and killed the dwarf brothers at the inn who resize crafted armor with HALF LIFE.they got him down to a sliver before they both bit the dust so.....
Guards Vs. Griffins
# Mar 21 2000 at 6:42 PM Rating: Decent
To those who say that the guards can't handle griffins, here me out. I was once resting at the toll booth in the West Commonlands, waiting for some suitable prey to come along, when I spotted a griffin approaching the toll booth. Naturally, I backed away from it, and the two guards at the booth assaulted the griffin when it got close enough. The griffin got a few hits on both guards, but the guards hurt the griffin much more. The griffin then turned and fled, pursued by the guards and eager adventurers alike (including me), hoping to get in the killing blow and loot the corpse. The guards chopped at the griffin until its lifebar was a mere sliver, and then some mage slew it with a spell and looted it (lucky guy!). So, people, the guards in this particular location CAN handle griffins, and quite nicely!
con?

What does the con text read? I conned one and it regarded me dubiously or something, I was sure it would say "ready to attack".. that sort of thing? I didn't get near it to find out though.. no need to die
STAY AWAY

I once saw one of these things eat 2 guards! Sergeant Slate is the only NPC in East Commons that can take a griffin on.
hehe...

Well, abou the guard corpse thing, unless someone was smart enough to kill the guard before the griffin got the finishing blow, the guard would have no corpse because it was killed by a non-charmed npc... well, I CAN solo this thing at 40, me being a warrior, but I have to melee it until I get berzerker frenzy... and at this time, hopefuly, it usually has a little more than 1/4 hp, I just BOW+SOW kite it, since my crip blows with my arrows can do up to 96 dmg.. I have a dual cam btw.. exp? well, they are about same as specs, 2 kill=one pixel, but the down time is so bad, and the spawn rate is so unstable, I don't camp them. I'd rather cam colin and valon, or the two dwarves, now THAT is good exp... since the spawn rate is so fast
Dey WIMPZ

One time on a sunshiny day in EC , i was encumbered so i thought to myself where would be a good place to sell.....I know the inn . So i went to he inn and i saw a bird i thought it was a bat ( DUH bats dont spawin in EC) I saw somone get killed by it and i was like o well , just a bat . And then i targeted it and it a was a Griff . Then somone else got killed by it . I saw a guard corpse by it . Then i was like uh oh and i panicked and ran into the inn . When i went into the inn there were about 4 people n there saying stuff like is it gone ? What was that ? Run for your lives! And i was just about to gate then it opend the door and killed me in two or three quick hits . Then i went back the inn and there were everybody's corpses . Well, thats just my story ....and for all that is good and decent STAY AWAY FROM THESE THINGS !!!!!!! ...

A 29th Mage (me), a 31st Necro, a 29th Wiz, and a shaman (forgot level, 33 or something) managed to drop it through a combination of multiple pets/kiting like madmen. Great exp!
Bixies
# Mar 02 2000 at 12:53 PM Rating: Default
I have to agree with Brecca. Fighting in ECommons with my monk, I heard this rumor and decided to investigate. I never heard anyone shout "Griffon!" until after I killed a bixie. I tried this with varying delays, from 2 hours to 20 minutes, and it seems as though the rumor is correct!
Warning!
# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
These guys fly, and are nasty as hell! Unless you have taken one down before, I would steer clear. You'll know when to run if you hear a deep whooshing sound, like big wings flapping.
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) FOR YOU newbies...or even in you 20s..STAY away from this thing!
bah stupid human zones
# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
It seems to me most human newbie zones have that one creature who will take you down in a hit well this is one of them worst is unlike sand giant who sticks to the back part of n ro or in oasis all together this guy jusy flys around anywhere. Many people die just selling from merchants as it flies inside and before you see all the text of its furry you hear the bells of death.
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Thanks man.
Spawn
# Feb 23 2000 at 9:43 AM Rating: Decent
It is rumored that these spawn in east Commons when you kill a Bixie so I now think again when I'm about to kill a bixie.
