Umm... I'm fairly new to the game still; I was wondering, how should a 40 Wiz go about killing these? Oh yah, these might help: 218 INT, 1930 mana; have Bonds of Force, Elnerick's, and am reliably Temp'ed and C2'ed.

Killed my first Giant in Rathe Mts today. Level 35 mage. Level 34 earth pet, pet kit, and temp on me and pet. Only used pet and Cinder bolt. At the end pet was around 35% health (w/ temp), I was at 80% and 20% mana, seems I got lucky =/

Dropped 40p, toes, and FS Long sword

Conned yellow.

Ranger Solo
# Sep 02 2004 at 8:38 AM Rating: Decent
You can start soloing these around 30 - 31 with a ranger, without root-n-shoot. Just need to have the right spell combination set up.
RE: Ranger Solo
# Oct 14 2004 at 1:55 PM Rating: Decent
Please fill me in on the "right" spell combination setup, cuz with all my buffs up and temp, i get destroyed, and as far as root and shooting them, i just used 5 stacks of arrows to kill one, with 175 arch, 170 dex, blessed faydark thunderbolt, and ancilles pouch arrows.

The best way to kill them is this. Pull with arrows, cast snare on them. Pull to an area where there are no pops. Root and canst Harmony on the Hill Giant. Then go in for the kill. When meleeing this way stay on the outer edge of attack radius and the only time they will hit you is on repostes. Tried this while grouping and never seemed to work right. While soloing great for cash and decent xp. Can make 500 in an hour. I am lvl 61 now and wanted to go try to see how fast I could take one down. Killed three at once this way on the hill and made 1700 in about an hour.

I killed one of these at lvl 24 or 25 with my druid dont remember but with the help of spirit of the cheetah. It was hard to land a snare on them obviously so that took about 2 mins. Than when cheetah wore off i switched to sow and rooted him than dotted him with all of my spells (remember this was when kei was available to anyone). When root would break i'd re-root and re-snare than cast my dot's on him again and nuke him. It took about 6 mins but i did it. Than I went back at 34 and quadded them or doubled them how ever many I could find and I found it impossible to keep them all snared so i just went back to pulling singles. All in all money was ok but I found I made the same or more money quadding guards in hk and porting people out. I also did this with my 51 beastlord in hk and was making 1.5k or more an hour when guards werent camped hoped this helped someone.

41 Druid here

Got fed up tryin to loot a chipped bone bracelet from those damn ogres, tracked down a hill giant and killed one(my first).

First loot: 23pp and a FS Scimitar!!!!

Quickly, I ran to Rathe Mountains, I have killed about 3 so far, but there are about 4 others with the same idea as me. This is awesome tho, I get experience AND awesome loot!

If you are a ranger, & have either an arrow summoning tool (ie bloody ancilles pouch) or a good amount of arrows/supplies to make em, you can solo these chumps with your bow.
First, Have a decent bow, second, always refresh snare about every min or so, & at lvl 30, with sow up, I can snare one, walk backwards (sow up) & fire on these guys till they die, I am lvl 35 right now & it is quite easy exp/loot. (Helps that I am a twink) If you choose to do this, & don't want big risk, first go to NK, EK where there are very few HGs... try it there, Good Luck!

i am a 34 Druid and i am realy low on plat... when i try killing them i always end up runing and die, are there any special ways of killing them with druids? at level 34. i tryed rooting and snareing, than i put 4 dots on them, and sitting, they took about 65 dammage a tick. than snare wore off and i died, any help would be nice :)

Have solo'd Hill Giant at 29, root/dot run far far away with Sow. running so far gives you extra time to med after root breaks. when he comes into view root/dot again and run far away. repeat until dead. may not be exactly how others do it but it works for me

i camped my dru from 32 to 44 almost totally in rathe. the best way i found was to use snare (either form but ensnare holds longer) and a dot then pull to safe spot. once he gets close root with the one that lasts like 1.5 min(not sure of name) and then add the two more dots. i stayed in wolf form and used my 3 strongest dots. stay seated while dots work on these mugs and only run to another safe spot when root breaks. keep him rooted as much as needed but save mana as much as possible. you should find this to work for ya. good luck.
RE: druids.....34
# Jun 09 2004 at 9:43 PM Rating: Decent
You should be able to kill them easily at 34.

Are you sure you don't mean that ROOT breaks? Your level 29 snare (ensnare) should last almost 7 minutes, which should be more than enough time to root/rot them. Just make sure you have sow on yourself and all your damage shields in case you miscalculate and get hit. Also make sure you sit far enough away from him so you can get up and run if root breaks.

I am a level 38 paladin with maxed 1hs, wielding a massive dragon claw shard, an orb of the infinite void and very good armor. I was JUST able to take a north karana hill giant down the other night. Sorry, not buying for a second that anybody is taking them down at 29.

Log on to Torvonolous looke me up and I'll bring my 31 Necro out there, bet you 100pp that its dead and I am at about 75% life and 70% mana when I'm done with it.

Point of this post?

Pally suck at soloing. Standing there and meleeing these are not the answer, takes an approach, like root rotting or aggro kiting, in one of the safe spots down the hill.
where?

i cant find them anywhere, are they in the south or north or what part of zone, their not even on track. am i just blind, or did they get nerfed, or were they turned into cyclopses (i found quite a bit of those) or is everquest just messed up.

If you come into the zone from Feerott run to first fourway, turn left hug the right wall, when you come out of that section watch your map(make sure you dont take another left here you will regret it) there will be a tower ontop of a hill, the giants spawn around that.
Hope that helps.
Clerics can even do these

Once you get retribution you can root and nuke these guys to death in no time flat. HG=approx 2.7k hp, retribution=500hp per cast= dead giant. As long as you stay away from them once root breaks you will be fine.

Getting HG's to pop in WC
# Mar 06 2004 at 8:48 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, age old question here... does anyone know how to get the HG's to spawn in WC? Now that all the higher levels are doing LDON Adventures, and the even higher levels have sailed off to the Gates of Discord, WC seems pretty quiet.

Any thoughts would be appreciated :)

I have not seen a HG in WC for a long time. He seems to have been replaced by a Nightfall giant that spawns only at night, and only drops a head for a pally legs quest.

HGs do in fact pop in WC... I was just helping a friend with a CR in Befallen, and when we zoned out, there was a HG right in front of the Befallen Ent.

The HG's in the Rathe Mts. are a great place to earn some quick plat. However, as many HG's are in this place, there never seem to be enough to go around! This zone is always packed, everyone has the same idea and everyone is struggling just to find a MOB that hasn't already been taken! Out of common courtesy, I never quad these guys (although I'd love to!)-- so don't hate all druids!! And, please, those of you who hunt there, help out by hitting more place holders! (aka. lizzies and skellies) TY!

I traveled to Rathe last night for the first with my 43 Pald and daughter's 40 CLC. After wandering around for a while finding the right valley, we finally fought 2 HGs. First dropped 77 gold and the second 23 PP - looks like there is a big spread on loot after looking at the other recent posts but got over 30 PP for the 2.

They are not nerfed. I recently got around 52PP in coin and item loot from one and regulary get 20-30+ off many of them. It is true that some of them drop less than the time it takes to kill them is worth, but on the average you can still make out extremely well here.

Druids
# Nov 16 2003 at 3:51 PM Rating: Default
Simple Question

I just got my druid to Level 34 and was wondering if HGs would be kite-able. I do NOT mean to quad them (as i have no experience or know how on how to do it) i just want to kite'em. I got buddys who say they did it at 39, but i was just wondering what the community said..
thanks.
RE: Druids
# Mar 16 2004 at 10:45 AM Rating: Decent
At lvl 34 as a druid you should be able to kite these, I took out my first at lvl 29 (not twinked) wihtout too much trouble, just make sure snare stays on:)

#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 14 2003 at 8:42 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ok i know that there are dragons in this game but i am stupid and i don't know what zone they r in and how a 65 shammy could solo em if someone could tell me what zone they r in tell me cuz i wanna try em with my 64 necro :)

Western Wastes is full of dragons. Get a druid to teleport you to Cobalt Scar. Then zone into Sirens Grove. If the druid that ported you in is nice, they can succor you across SG, where you can zone into Western Wastes.

There are many dragons in this zone, most of the around the temple in the northern part of the zone, but many wander around as well. Watch out for the wurms, they will attack you instantly and hit very hard.

One last word of advise. Either keep a levitate spell up (such as DMF) or steer well clear of the large holes in the middle of the zone. They will kill you instantly if you wall in, as a friend of mine found when he ran head first into said hole....for 10k damage....
RE: dragons?
# Sep 16 2003 at 4:10 PM Rating: Decent
sigh...ok, first off, you bought your account of e-bay didn't you? Yes, there are quite a few dragons in this game...I guess if you wanna solo a dragon as a 64 necro your best bet is to go to the Western Wastes and kill the level 50 dragons there. There's about 50 dragons in that zone, most are very gimp, but you'll trash your CoV faction in the process.

Yeah, sorry about that, but if you could do it, you would too. I routinely quad kite HG's with my 52 druid, and I had another druid I brought there at 33 and was kiting two at a time. Now that she is lvl 34, I will start quadding with her, too. You know, sometimes you just can't help it, as a HG might spawn on top of you, or aggro you from behind... You just have to snare first, and once you get an add, you might as well just kite them at that point
Another tactic I use is to root and dot one, then pull another with snare, and carefully steer that one towards the other one already rooted. If I time it right, I can root the second one on top of the first, and then AE or rain spell them both... The moral is... It is much more effective use of mana to cast AE spells on multiple targets than single targets.

Sorry to ramble...
One other reason druids kite 4 at a time... Our lightning AE spells affect up to 4 mobs at a time. So, it is almost a waste to kite any less than that.

this is yet another reason to leave your weak local bluebie server and join the real world of pvp red like blood,

Go ahead .. i dare you to quad kite while i'm farming out giants on my sk .. lets see if you can kite while snared, or perhaps with my sword in your back :)
