I come here to learn a little bit about different stradegys for naggie and which i liked best. All i do is feel mad and worked up cuz everyone yelling nOOb (i think they feel cool writeing that, like look how cool i am and your a nOOb). These post are for posting your experiences and stradegies and this is rediculous. People yelling what a newbie, i bet he is lvl 3!, or somthing to that effect. ohh and my favorite STUPID KIDS... i bet he is 13-15
(what serious mature adult would say this) so teens are yelling at themselves plz dont do that guys. (for i am 14)

PLZ post what you need to do to help others, and dont yell at eachother ... just rediculous EQ is to me an escape, my own little fanisy world i go to when somthing is wrong or i am bored or need to cool off, and people doing stupid stuff just ruins it and makes it like RL.

sorry for all the info but you get the idea, nice posts! heck allakhazam is having trouble paying bills so we can fight with eachother?!?!
i dont think that was their intentions

and show respect for naggy , prettty biiird

If you are lvl 53 or higher you will be dismissed from the area if you try to attack Naggy. Peeps lvl 53+ can NOT fight this dragon.

Last night was my first dragon raid on Nagafen. I was in awe, but I didnt hesitate when my group was told to attack. It was a long hard fight to be sure..just getting in, being the second wave of melee the area fear was already up. I managed to resist it the first time. The most dangerous thing besides fighting the dragon was being on the ramp and hoping like heck not to fall into the lava with all the players trying to push him back. I managed to stay alive. I did have to use Loh though, because the clerics were busy trying to save others at the time, very understandable I might add. After 15 minutes of fighting he dropped dead. Whew! Well I did get to roll of a few items, but unfortunatly didnt win anything. I was hoping to get my half of the book. There will be other times, and my good friend and fellow Paladin got the half of the book. I was happy for him. Well that was my encounter with this mighty dragon. Good luck to you all in taking on this mighty beast.

I am so tired of hearing...
Monks get this cause the weight is low..
Hybrids don't deserve this cause they really don't need mana...
My level 62 Necro should roll on this cause Necros RULE...(like a Necro would be in a successful Dragon raid)
Clerics should get those so they can sell it for Cleric stuff...
Yes, I was a NOOB once... I thought a Velium Round shield was Uber... I thought the Bladed Thulian Claws I received as a gift was the greatest weapon I would ever hold... but I didn't post on every site these inane comments like I knew everything about the game !

I love noobs, i give them a couple pp when they see me and buff me... I'll give them magic weapons or armor I have no use for anymore...
I just can't STAND when they post these retarted comments and act like they created the damn game.
And for your information... I consider any idiot (regardless of level) who has only played one class and comments about the rest as a NOOB !

Heh, I remember when the Claws *were* considered uber, and Velium Round Shields didn't even exist ;)

I hate to see new comers to EQ put down the old world items, simply because they've been spoiled by the unstoppable flood of uber items which are undersold or twinked.

Ruby Crown Drop
# Jul 21 2001 at 11:47 PM Rating: Default
I am pleased to say as a first time raid leader we took down Naggy on bertoxx less than a day or so. I would say that 75% of our group had never seen a dragon raid.

However, this does not mean the dragon was easy. Don't ever take a dragon for granted. Many people do and then it is 2 hours of rezzing all the bodies.

We had 42 well balanced groups and each of the novice raiders read all the information I put up on the web for strategy. It was a little hairy due to people being in awe of the dragon when the charge came down. However, they worked hard to learn what to do and knew their jobs well before we even met in Lavastorm.

A NEW item was dropped. A Ruby crown, which at first appeared unremarkable. It had no stats to it, just a crown. Upon closer examination and using my identify song, the Crown is Indeed a LORE item. It is tradeable.

We believe the crown to be for some sort of quest and are investigating. If anyone has heard of an NPC needing a crown from a dragon, please post it here.

Thanks!

On the Bertoxx server,I got picked up for a Naggie raid tonight...I was their only shaman.Key to this guy is people and good buffs/resists.He hits very hard.I recall him triple attacking a friend for 280(wasnt pleasant)and every 10 to 15 seconds he would do one of his famous "AoEs".One being a AoE fear. The other being a fire AoE that hurts bad if you don't have high FR.Was hitting me with it for anywhere from 125dmg to 525dmg each time.We had 7 groups(42peeps)of 46+ and half were tanks.Naggie went down fairly quick.Only lasted about a minute or so.I was main healer in group and I also had to slow him.I am Lvl 51 and he resisted 2 slows from right under him so stopped with the slows and just healed.Gotta have many nukers and melee to win this one. Also a bard comes in handy...didnt get fear on any of us cause bard had song playing so all MR was at 220 or higher for everyone.Ooops forgot to mention,Buffing takes a good hour depending on buffers could be less but as I said,I was the only shaman there. After you are buffed log to a chat room and wait till told to come back so buffs dont wear of course. Not much to it really...1)Get about 40 people or more.2)Clear Fire giants(some are hard)3)Buff out side at room outside of Naggie.4)After buffed log and come back when all have been buffed.5)Bumrush Naggie and fight him on BACK wall...very important or you will end up fighting on a bridge.6)Enjoy the great loot = )

You have slain Lord Nagafen
bunch of faction hits..

few questions... ive been on many nagy raids, but am sort of low lvl(45) and im a mage so i stay fairly far back, so how much does his AoE do exactly? also heres the way we did it. we had a lvl 55 mage along for the ride but he never attacked, if someone in his grp was in trouble, hed just CoTH them right to the zone an they zone out, BTW he was in the tank group. we had a chanter group of 3, with 2druids and me (45 mage)
we had 5 lvl 50 warriors and 55 mage in another group, 3 52 warriors, 3 52 clerics
then there was 6 tanks consiting of SKs and rangers. 2 Sks i think and both HTs got resisted.

BTW forgot about group of shammys and druids and a group of nukers went like this 3 shammys/3druids and then 5 wizzies

the tanks all had rune 3 or 4 i forget which tho, and cle buffs, also had druid and shammy buffs, also had crappy vuffs to get dispelled, i personally gave see invis =) also gave dmg sheild cuz other mage was afraid he might get booted out of zone.

we cleared all the FGs etc. with a few lvl 55s and such

then naggy comes. we pulled with a 5 nuke salute and a few DoTs.

the tanks all taunted like mad.they used weighted axe for intial hit then they used 1hs for better taunt and since they had good haste it was awesome.

The clerics healed like mad and i think about 10 were killed in total, but 2 lives were saved due to CoTH. the Sks died rather quick cuz of HT taunt. a wiz died due to overnuke, a lvl 50 with a n00bie brain =)

it was rather easy, when we raid vox about a week from now im sure it will be MUCH harder

I have been on about 3 Naggy raids myself. My first was at 27 when I tagged along and before I could even make it to Naggy I saw LOADING, PLEASE WAIT. But the nexttime was much different. I didn't have full equip (legs or helm were gone) and was encumbered (i think 182/145). I was also only level 34... but I did manage to dish out around 300 damage to the punk before he laid me out flat. He double attacked for 250 and hit me with his AoE for 500dd. We got him to like 7% that time but lost somehow. The lord of fire himself sat on my corpse but I got it back the next day ready for the next attempt. That time I stood back and took screen shots and we knocked his @$$ out. I didn't get a chance to roll for any of the loot (i was only level 34). But that is my side of the story and if you don't like it ohh well.

#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 21 2001 at 9:17 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Personally I think everyone should be allowed to roll on droppable items. So a Enchanter can't use the cloak of flames (at least not to any effect), He can sell it and purchase enchanter items to an equal value of a cloak. Maybe they can trade it to a monk or warrior and get an awesome enchanter item. Is this greedy? In my opinion no, why not get dragon loot for trade to get gear good for you?

Looking at all the posts and the loot Naggy drops, why should a cleric go on raid in the first place? The way everyone talks Naggy doesn't drop a damn thing that clerics would get to roll on.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 25 2001 at 3:36 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) No 50 Clerics or 50 Warriors alone could kill Lord Nagafen it is suspose to be a group effort. Personally I am for the tanks. You don't hear the tanks complaining about not getting to roll for Cleric items. Personally I am a bard and I would hate to have a cleric in the group that would want the Selo's drum of March when you don't need it. Hell its part of any raid. The people that NEED the items always come first.

Heres the nag strat that worked when we did him last.

Tanks : approx 20
Clerics : 4
Bard : 2
Misc casters : 5 or so

Clear fgs then make a buff party group at dragon mouth.

Buff party should do following
Crap buff 5 or 6 slots to get dispelled then say 'crap buff done'
Shaman should buff str and hps and say 'sham buffs done'
Chanter should buff haste clarity etc depending on class and say 'chanter buffs done'
Druid should buff skin line nature and say 'skin done or druid done'
Cleric should buff symbol and ac buff and say 'cleric done'

Then have each person camp to a chat room to talk about strategy.

Strategy we used with 5 groups and only 4 clerics with one death was as follows:

1) 52 monk runs in and puts on /disc stonestance and pulls nagafen to the back part of his lair.
2) rest of melee engaged
3) clerics stood in nagafens belly and did NOT sit to make sure they didnt get agrod
4) alternative healers sham druid etc healed as much as possible on their group
5) nagafen starts running at 10% hps so try to push him into lair by meleeing him toward the center of the lair. Not terribly important but a /g knock him toward center of lair! wouldnt hurt.

6) Loot.

Loot should be handled as follows:
Cloak of flames - melee classes only random. This is one of the best non quested haste items in the game so dont be jerks.
Red scale - should be randomed for paladins / warriors / bards.
Gauntlets of fiery might should be randomed between melee only. Theres NO reason a caster should get these.

You will probably have stuff that casters will random on anyway, dont try to take the prized loot.

We had blight randomed between everyone, prayer words randomed.

If you are a caster come here for high lvl kill practice, dont come here for loot. You absolutely will not get it. I'd personally kill a caster that joined for 30 mins and got a cloak of flames.

Cloak is best monk / rogue / warrior / ranger / shadowknight / paladin cloak in the game PERIOD, theres no reason it should go to anyone else.

Anyway if you follow the buff, camp, monk agro first strategy you should be successful, we were and we had a suicide party with no cleric.

Caster loot drops off of vox, so try to get the nagafen party to kill vox if they are up for it. It's basically the same strat... kill ice giants first etc. Only difference is you need a team dedicated to stunning vox.
RE: Nag strat
# Aug 16 2001 at 11:08 AM Rating: Default
Just a question. Why do you list the red scale as being only for paladins / warriors / bards?

The plain fact is all of those classes can easily find plate that works very well for them. The classes I would have to think the red scale should be rolled on would be those limited to chain mail on the high end.

To my knowledge that would add Ranger and Shaman. Shammies would see limited benefit of this item due to lack of melee fighting at higher levels, but for Rangers this is dream armor. The armor that you can get with this scale means more to a Ranger Class than probably any of the plate wearing classes.

Just my two cents worth, but if you have reasons then let me know. There is plenty of other armor in the game for plate wearing classes that can compare to Red Dragonscale, but for Rangers it is about as good as it gets until you hit your lvl 55 area.

Drinal

# Aug 24 2001 at 11:44 AM Rating: Default
In reply to your message as to why the red dragon scale should go to those three classes.

I cannot speak for paladins or warriors, but as a bard the red dragon scale is needed for our epic quest for The Singing Steel Short Sword. So it is a very important item for us and is not used for armor.

Best pic of Nagafen i've seen so far. Really makes you feel like you're about to get toasted. Makes me feel bad that I leveled past a chance to ever go on a naggy raid :( Well I could go on a raid but I couldn't get into the mix myself. Too much time camping in Seb heh. Started playin the game well after Kunark came out and nagafen was no longer all the rage i guess. Oh well, maybe an alt will see this guy up close someday:)
