As of later Dec 05 you still got booted if you were over 52. I imagine it hasn't change.

Trio
# Dec 08 2005 at 7:37 PM Rating: Decent
I was able to trio him with a 50 warrior, 48 bard and 52 cleric. The warrior has a little over 6k hp buffed with 262 buffed (pre bard song) fire resist. Fight lasted about 10 minutes. I had the bard just playing resist, lvl 32 mana song and haste for the fight. The cleric had FT13, KEI and bard mana song throughout the fight. When Nagafen started to flee at about 15% or so the cleric had over 90% mana left (total mana 3909).

I've done this twice so far, both times with the cleric having plenty of mana at the end. This was on the FV server though so it was a lot easier for me to get gear for the fight. At the end of the second fight he ended up dropping 5 cloak of flames.
Attempted to Duo
# Dec 08 2005 at 9:15 AM Rating: Good
My wife and I attempted to duo Nagafen yesterday. But failed. Cleric/Beastlord combo, all the best baz geared that is under 35k. Cleric was full magnetic, dented draconian, glowing stone of expulsion, fateseeker, ect ect. Had about 4k mana. Beast was dualing Barbed knuckleblades and copper hammer of striking. Had about 4200hp. Both have veteran AA's, so steadfast servants, jesters, and infusion of the faithful allowed us to resist everything. Was a perfect attempt in everyway. The main problem was cleric getting aggro and wasting mana healing himself, and thus getting more aggro. My wife finally got aggro but I just simply ran out of mana and she didnt do enough DPS. She died and I kited him around the room for about 2 minutes before I finally died :) Got him down to 80%.
Tackling Nagafen
# Aug 01 2005 at 6:30 PM Rating: Decent
Me and a cleric friend are thinking of tackling nagafen together, and i was wondering if you guys have some gear suggestions? MY magelo should be in my Sig, thanks. BTW our strategy is that an SK pulls the giants, FD. After the adds are cleared, the cleric is gonna sit in the other room, and then run and CH me, when i need. Gear Suggestion appreciated :)

I used to farm Naggy/Vox with a warrior and cleric combo, of which the majority of their gear was bazaar or rot loot/easily farmed.

Magelos are:
Warrior: http://www.magelo.com/eq_view_profile.html?num=1304443
Cleric: http://www.magelo.com/eq_view_profile.html?num=1299302

A warrior with 4k hp + 1150+ AC and a cleric with 3k mana pool and FT7 should be able to do it.

I used to CH less than 10 times on Vox/Naggy and even self buffed and nuking, my cleric hardly ever got below 70% mana before the dragon died.

Running in to heal would be fine, but better would be to grab a Circle of Seasons buff from a druid and get your MR/FR/CR over 120 unbuffed. That should let you resist 90% of Naggy/Vox's DDs. For the cleric, resists + FT should be your main priority. If you get nuked, you can just use a HoT on yourself.

Sorry Cryptyda, but thats not possible. As soon as your clerics cast a spell on your monk or Naggy, you will be ported to the ZI. Only lvl52 characters or less can attack her.
RE: easy kill
# Jul 08 2005 at 2:13 AM Rating: Decent
You are absolutely correct sjames, but you can bind in the area he's in and just have the clerics gate back to the area to keep healing the tank.

hmmmm unless its a once lv 70 monk with gajillion AAs then sacrificed down by a necro to 50s but still its kinda impossible someone can solo melee this dude without any healer that have to wait for cleric to comeback hmm i think after 30secs
RE: easy kill
# Jul 12 2005 at 11:51 AM Rating: Decent
Thats a wicked strategy. While one cleric is gating and zoning, the other gets off a heal. Seems like the monk wouldn't last in between gatings though.

Everything ya wanted to know about Naggy and more /grin
# Jan 05 2005 at 7:56 AM Rating: Excellent
/smile ... hmmm ... so ya want the goods on Naggy? Well I hope I dont let ya down. Long post so go get a cup of coffee.

First off lets talk about Naggy then we'll get to killing him. Understanding Naggy is the first step to killing him. He has AE debuff, AE nuke, AE fear, and max hits for a max of 225. He is NOT tethered to his room, and runs at aprox 16 percent (depending on your tanks HPs and when the CH hits). When he runs he drifts down to the bridge and back to his lair. He is lvl caped at 52... meaning that anyone over lvl 52 that gets agro from him will be banished to Lavastorm at the LS/SolB zone line.

So he AE fears, this is MR (magic resist)related, if your MR is over 180 you will prob not be feared much but I recomend getting your MR over 200+ (when you are feared you cannot be healed, usualy wander out of range and you drop to the bottom of agro list). ONLY MT (main tank)NEEDS HIGH MR!

Naggy has a AE nuke that hits for a max of 500 DD, this is FR (fire resist) based. Once again the higher FR you have the more you will resist this, at least 180 (I recomend over 200). Mine was at 250+ and I resisted most of them but I still got wacked occationaly for 500 pts. ONLY MT NEEDS HIGH FR!

AE Debuff, this is unresistable. You need to have at least 6 junk buffs up (for boxing) or just get a insta-click item. Since Naggy ALWAYS debuffs from first slot to last slot this is very easy to avoid being debuffed. ONLY MT NEEDS THIS ITEM!

Lets talk about the MT for a sec. He will need a minimum of 180 MR FR with insta-click item. The next most important thing is HPs, you can do my method of killing Naggy with a tank who has 3k (buffed)hps or higher, the more HPs the easier this will be for you. Here is a general guide for the amount of healers you will need per HPs: if you have a 7-8k HP tank (like mine) you only need one healer (cleric), 6-7k tank = 2 healers (cleric/druid works best), 4-6k tank = 3 healers (2clerics/druid), 3-4k tank = 4 healers (2 clerics/druid/sham). As long as the other stuff I mentioned is ok this is a general rule of thumb you might need to adjust this to your liking/sucess /wink.

Getting to Naggy, what a pain in the freaking *** this is. There is many short cuts you can take here if ya do him enough youll learn some (hint dont bother clearing Kings room). Any combination above can clear up to Naggys room but I dont like to take that long so I use a 67 BST and my 69 cleric and still takes me 20 min to clear to prep room (room right before Naggys lair). Note: all giants are on a 4-6hour timer so you dont have to worry about repops. Now the tricky part, you got 3 giants in Naggys lair that need to be pulled out (unless your super uber you can tank Naggy and 3 giants ... /cough I did). OMG I cant beleive im sharring my secrets, the easiest way to pull them out is using a 53+ toon that can gate. I use my cleric (ill explain later about how to use 52+ toons) to pull lair. Now this takes patients and practice so dont get frustrated failing your first 20 tries /grin. Have your 53+ puller go up the steps along the right wall up to the point that when you open the door you can see Naggys head bobbing up and down. Now watch his head for a bit ... as soon as it bobs down, and just before it bobs back up run strait at the giant on the left side of the door (left as your facing Naggy), hit attack and without slowing down turn around and run your *** back to prep room. If you suceed you will get that giant comming after you along with the other two (sometimes Magus and the other giant get left behind) either way you at least got one giant out of the way. If all 3 came out your golden and its time to kill Naggy ... if not you'll have to move to plan B (which sucks).

OK if you didnt get all the giants out of lair here is some alternate methods to get them out.

1) Use a high lvl caster with a pet (I use a 67 BST)... have him walk up the steps (but dont go farther then where you can see Naggy bobbing his head or ya get banished and have to run back up)wait until you see Magus path, all ya need is to target him. Once you have him targeted, move back down steps and send in pet to agro Magus ... at the stame time you have to run your *** off clear back to corner that turns down to the bridge (as far away from Naggy as possible). If you do this right you will not get banished and your pet will be eating the giant ... when the giants hps drop below 100 percent call your pet back to you until the giant comes out of the room. Once the giant is out of the room kill him and do the the same to the all remaining giants. If for some reason you cant seem to get them pulled this way /sigh (its happened to me)...

2) Take a 52 (or lower) toon and run into room get agro (dont engage just let them see you) and run down the first flight of stairs (keep all your 52 and lower toons way way back) as soon as puller dies pull giants with 52+ toons (that way if they get naggy agro they just get banished not killing everyone). NOTE: always have cleric/healers bind down by the bridge and never train mobs past prep room. If for whatever reason this is not working for you ... have the puller pull giants all the way back to the corner just before you drop down to the bridge and die there(make sure everyone else is on the other side of bridge to avoid unwanted agro), what your trying to do is get enough distance between giants and Naggy that you can safely pull giants without Naggy agroing (pain in the *** isnt it). If this dont work for ya ....

3) If ya have a Druid with ya have him bind at the bridge along with your 52 or lower cleric. Position your Druid in a spot in prep room for evac. Have the cleric run into room and get agro spam "EVAC" and run to the druid (10 sec cast time so spam and cast evac asap). After you have evaced gate back up to bridge and engage giants if not guarded by Naggy. Now if this dont work for you ....

4) Pay a lvl 52 or lower monk/sk to come up and pull the stupid giants out of Naggys lair (and now ya know why I decided to try to kill all of them at the same time ... I got tired of trying to split them up and was too lazy to run my monk over there).

/WHOOT finally you got the lair cleared and are ready for Naggy ... the easy part. First off if you already killed Vox using my suggested method and it worked for you ... know one thing ... Naggy chews his food much much faster, but he dies faster also.

Buffing: Get your insta-click up in your first buff slot. On Naggy, unlike Vox, you do NOT need junk buffs, he will always debuff your fist buff slot in order. So unless your buffs run out because they just ran out of time you will be fully buffed at the end of this battle. Note: always makes life easier if you macro key your insta-click with your kick, taunt, etc. Buff up anything and everything you can ... MR FR HPs are the most important. Make sure you have a DS (damage shield) potion, you will cast this right before you pull Naggy (DS potions stack with all other Player casted DSs). If you have a druid have him hit you with DS, REGEN, SEASONS, MR, etc. DS is very important in this battle ... it takes twice as long to kill him with out it and your healers will go oom, if you dont have DS available ... find and add a cleric for the extra healing your going to need. Healers you will want KEI as a minimum ... preferable VoQ, Po9, SD, or better buffs.

SET UP BATTLE: Naggy will be pulled to door, so healers you want to BIND just around the corner away from the door. There is a little corner nook that is around the corner from Naggys door along the wall bind there. This is your "healing corner", dont leave this corner ... ever durring the fight. Naggys AEs cant reach this spot so you will not get feared, nuked, or agroed if you stay there (also the reason only tank needs buffs and resist gear etc). Clerics you will CH (complete heal), Druids recast DS, back up heals. If you have other mele wanting to get in on the action ... tell them to do what ever makes them happy ... tell them they wont get any heals durring fight. They cant hurt anything but if ya ***** around and try to heal them they will just drain your mana and end up wiping your raid. Almost easier to just have them sit around until Naggy hits 40 percent, then have them charge /giggle (that way they feel like they helped).

Tank drinks DS potion and pulls Naggy to the door (dont have levi on its real anoying on this fight, and it helps on the pull if you back all the way down the steps until Naggy gets stuck at the door because he will AE nuke ya from clear inside his room and he gets stuck on his little bridge in there). Once he is at the door, tank attacks him. The door keeps dropping down its a pain in the *** just keep opening it. If Naggy gets pushed too far inside wait until you CH hits then open the door and back up. He will summon you to him all ya have to do is back up again and he will follow you back to the door. You usually have to do this 3-4 times to keep him at the door (I never risked fighting him inside his room, I dont know how far is too far to land heals). You can pull him down the steps some but if you accidently pull him too far he will start AEing your healers ... NOT good.

Cleric use your CHes wisely dont waste mana but watch your tanks HPs. A 8k tank needs heals at 20 percent, a 6-7k tank needs heals at 30-40 percent, 5k tank needs heals 40-50 percent, 3-4k tanks needs heals at 50-70 perent. Just take turns healing and call them out so everyone knows who droped the ball.

High lvl toons: I use a lvl 69 cleric and box my 52 war ... I just use self buffs and use all the tactics ive shared here. My 52 war has around 6500 HPs self buffed and Virt (7924 raid buffed). But here is how this works, my cleric heals my war at 20-30 percent ... he gets banished out ... he gates back in to bind point (healing corner)... heals. For me its a tight squeeze in timming, ive died to spell failure on casting gate, not getting back in time for next heal, etc. But for me its no biggy because I just click him back up buff and do it again. Sometimes its good to have your high lvl toons bind ... run into naggy room, get booted and gate back in to warm up your computer to the zone. This works for all High lvl toons buffers, healers etc. You CANNOT touch the dragon with nukes, slows, debuffs, anything directed toward Naggy if your over 52 ... that includes PETS. Ya the pet looks like its eating the dragon but its not doing **** to him and eventually durring the fight you will prob get banished because of pet. Its no biggy just another gate. But all spells directed at the tank will land first before you get banished, so rune, heal, buff, etc and just gate back in.

Set up for first try I would do this:

45-52 Tank (4k+ HPs) (180+ MR FR Insta-click)
2/50+ Clerics (one below 52) KEI+
49+ Druid DS, Buff, Nuke, Heal, Resists, Evac,

Min group:

52 Tank (6k+ HPs) (200+ MR FR Insta-click)
52+ Cleric VoQ+, Po9+, SD+ (FT 12)
49+ Druid DS, Buffs, Nukes, Heal, Resists, Evac

Well I hope this helps. Ive been doing this for about 4 years on ARo server. It was a fun challenge for me to figure out my own style. Ive had my headaches from this. Its only been this last year that ive been actually boxing them all by myself which was my goal. I have now quit playing EQ and thought I would pass along the info to you guys. Ive taught many peeps how to do this on my server but I know epic 2 are sought after and want everyone to know there is an easy way to get these dragons dead.

Sincerly and Good Luck,

Ribbid 52 WAR (7924hps, raid buffed)
Draguntalon 69 CLR (FT 16)
Kerbourchard 66 RNG (first toon baby boy)
Draguneyes 66 MNK
Puzycat 67 BST
Dummby 52 WAR (first War to Box or solo Vox and Naggy in game since lvl cap was put in place)
Avaa 12 DRU my BAZ toon (had to keep the lewts flowing)

Equipment Suggestions: (when setting up your gear make sure that you will have MR, FR, CR over 200 then start building up HPs)

Arms: Elbow Spiked Armguards, Kizrak's Armband of Battle, Farwater Plate Vambs
Back: Lodizal Shell Shield (great saves), Heirophants Cloak
Chest: Fierce Heraldic BP, Kizrak's Chest (highly recomend for self buff)
Ear: Shrunken Goblin Skull Earring (highly recomended for insta-clicky), Bloodmetal Earring of Engagement, Iron Cog Earring
Face: Mask of the dragon slayer, Thulean Visage of Horror
Feet: Boots of the Storm
Finger: Valorium Ring of Gallantry, Steel Ring of Earthen Resiliance
Hands: Velium Encrusted Gaunts, Warlord Steel Gaunts, Kizrak's Gaunts of Battle (highly recomended for self haste)
Head: Crown of Froglock Kings (nice saves), White Dragon Helm
Legs: Ferce Heraldic, Kizrak's Greaves of Battle
Neck: Necklace of Superiorty, Shell Inlaid Collar, Black Plated Collar
Shoulder: Barbed Rubicite Pauldrons, Horn Spiked Shoulder Plates
Waiste: Runed Bolster Belt
Wrist: Crystal Acid Bracers, Kizrak's Bracer of Battle
Charm: Intricate Wooden Figurine (tag along on raids and get your flags ... worth it)
Range: Idol of Wavecrasher, Ceramic Totem of Xegony
Primary: Blade of Carnage (do ldons get your weaps auged with lifetaps)
Secondary: Splitblade of Destruction, Sceptar of Destruction
Misc: Amulet of Necopotence (insta-clicky from inventory), Ring of Dain Frostreaver IV (insta-clicky with DS ... pain in *** quest but fun), Woven Shim Choker (nice 41percent haste item that is fairly easy to get if ya got friends)

Suggestion: In order to get the PoP quest armor you are going to have to jump up to lvl 55 to do the quests ... while your at lvl 55 get your HP AAs done (I did 1-2 AAs per night), only takes a few weeks. I did this in my spare time when I wasnt raiding was a great little side adventure.

PS: if ya have questions, clarifications, misunderstandings, post here ill monitor these for a few weeks and try to fix any errors.

See Above I added some suggestions. I have (or had) all that gear + alot of No Drop gear I obtained leading Plannar Progression Raids. Don't know if new expansion had better gear but you can surf and look for it. I gave alot of low end suggestions that I used back in the day cause I know alot of peeps dont have 2 million pp to spend on setting up a toon.

Naggy down. 2nd Attempt. One all dark Group on Vallon Zek. (no bards!)

Gratz to Nogobar, Kilshar, Sarlor, Bigcheesy, Gitface and Bigthin.

No stupid planar kit, no 65s delevelled for the occasion. Just one kickass band of level 52s.

Chanter chain-runed MT, clicky items aplenty to stop the debuff kickin in too much. Didnt bother trying to slow much, concentrated on DPS and prayed to Innoruuk a plenty before and sacrificed a few lights.

Job done. Lady Vox next...

Additional for those interested. We wiped the previous week due to low resists, this time we were better prepared, with most of us around the 200 MR&FR after buffages. Max hit on the warrior was 221 average being about 140. Does quad but not that often. Our biggest prob first time was the AoE fear, which played no part today. What turned it for us was the Rune4 chain cast and the casters reserving mana for those spells that seemed to stick, ie magic/poison. Fight took under 7 minutes, and boy were we oom at the end. He ran at 13%

Naggy Trio'd

I use a SK/Cleric/Druid combo to trio Naggy quite often. The SK has been dlvl'd and is well geared while both healers are 65. Pretty easy fight actually, just long. Make sure you have an insta click buff item to keep him from debuffing your magic resist, if it goes and dragon roar starts landing it becomes very hard for your hidden away healers to heal you =P Good luck and happy dragon hunting.

Another trio :
I have 2 friends that used to kill Nagafen and Vox, 1 playing a 52 monk, other playing 52 monk / 52 cleric hydra. None of them are dlvl'd chars, but they're all alts and a little twinked.
All you need is real good resists and clicky items to refresh crap buffs.
I joined them several times with 52 bard playing +70 resist songs and clicking SS boots (group lev), was even easier (fully buffed and with song, bard had about 300 Cold/Fire resists and about 330 MR).

What is Naggy's Banishemt point? That is, we all know that when a 53+ toon gets on his hate list they get banished... but to what point in the zone? Thanks in advance.

Thoughts on the chances of success of one group of pretty well tuned peeps. All will be lvl 52 and have moderate to good kit. MT Resists will be around 190ish and rest of the group will be around 140+.

Ogah War, DE Rogue, Troll Shammy, DE Cleric, DE Mage, DE Chanter.

We've trashed some major mobs, done the first PoJ trial bit where ya gotta dash from one side to another killin mobs asap. I've found little info on what Naggy hits for, we've taken multiple mobs hitting for double 190+s etc so assumin it all goes to plan and aggro sticks we should be ok.

We're still lookin for info on adds as u enter Naggies Room, and pulling strats for the room so we can take Naggy one on one...

With but one cleric it wont be easy, but with todays crazy buffs/kei/equipment etc we reckon this is doable. Hell its one of the reasons this group exists...

We're all expecting to die at least once, maybe more times as we learn this beasty... so any hints now would be welcomed!

Nogobar, Bigthin, Sarlor, Gitface, Kilshar an Bigcheesy, on Vallon Zek...
hmm

Think it's possible to trio him? The suggested group is a Druid, Shaman, and Beastlord. The Beastlord has a tash stick for debuff. I was thinking about two ways to avoid the AE for the casters... hovering over the lava or hiding around the ocrner on the stairs. Do either work?

lots of trio combos for him, really all you need is good twinks who know what they doing but i know for sure: Pally, Shammy, Cleric works.
Naggy notes

Some notes for those wanting to take down Nagafen:

1) Resists, get your Fire and Magic resist OVER 100 BEFORE buffs, without this you'll get eaten alive

2) Bards are nice to have here just for their resist songs, If you can resist both his AE's you can win easily

3) Extended Range items are a healers best friend here, with a good ER item most healers should be able to stay out of AE range

4) DPS is important, more DPS = less AE damage. As far as choosing DPS i would take Rogues and Rangers

5) Anyone who is nuking needs to be under Naggy's belly to land anything. If your not under his belly your not gonna land *****

6) Dont let him run into the lava, doing that will get most of your raid killed, if he starts to run have your Pally's start stunning him. If anyone has any offensive disc's they should use them at this point

7) Pets are helpful here, but dont worry about healing them its nots worth it. If your a mage imo the Air pet works best

8) When your raid charges in get everyone but MA, SA, and possibly TA behind Nagafen to avoid his Ripostes

9) Tell everyone that once they are within Melee range of Nagafen to change to Walk so they wont get as far away if he fears them. In the event they get feared, wait for fear to wear off than switch to run, run back to Naggy, resume killing and switch back to walk again.

10) If you can get some lvl65's to come buff you guys before you engage that is perfect. Ideally you want (pending everyones lvl > 46): KEI, Virtue, and Circle of Seasons for sure

11) If i remember correctly one of Nagafen's AE's does have a debuff element to it, make sure everyone has 4 dummy buffs up before their real buffs. Some good dummy buffs for him are: Resist Disease, Resist Poison, Resist Cold, Charisma Buff, etc.

12) it is possible to take down nagafen with 3-5 people, they must have high resists and will usually be pretty twinked. To be on the safe side normally 4 groups of decent 48-52's can take down Nagafen
Hope this helps any of you wanting to take down Nagafen

As for Pallies stunning Naggy, I must say that in the five or six times I've fought him, I've YET to land a single stun with my 52 Pal. And trust me, I've been up close and personal with him each time. I usually have my Mace of the Fallen Crusader and Shield of the Stalwart Seas up (for the collective HP, STA, and AC), Bashing as fast as the button will pop, but I'm not sure I've ever slowed him down. If you're going to do the mad rush charge into his room, have the MA overrun him on the bridge and put his back to the raid. That way, he gets pushed away from the lava and toward the MA.

And I'd love to see more rogues and SKs when I take on Naggy to bring the DPS. I see plenty of rangers - I call them "cannon fodder" as they typically die well before the other melees. They tend to be a bit fragile in the HP department. All I can tell you is, at every sucessful dragon kill I've been at, there's been at least one rogue. I'm just sayin'...

And I'd forego the offensive disciplines in favor of Resistant (for everyone who can) or Evasive (if your MA is a 52 War). The less time your melees spend running in fear, the more time they have to output damage. And having damage mitigation will keep your MA alive if your clerics are feared, which is all-too-common in my experience.

And after the number of unsuccessful raids I've been on, I've recently come up with two personal rules for hosting these:

1) Minimum level for raiders: 47

2) Bring MGBers
