I am going do to Naggy with one group. Consisting of a Tank with 5.8k hp buffed and a around 1200ac. 2 rogues well twinked with epics and around 1300 atk a cleric shaman and paladin. With my fear discipline I will be immune to fear but for only a minute. What is the best way to go about this? I am hoping for no deaths but the paly will have to back up tank when war goes down right? I would like feedback.

hmm,i know i said you need a raid, but i hadnt raided him yet. He is a pushover (kind of) One thing that is kind of funny though,is that everytime i've heard of him dying by 1 group he has dropped crap loot. Its probably a coincedence but thats still kind of weird.

ok here i go. 1st time i have raided this beast, it was going good we had him down to 30% and then one of our healers fugded up. and grp 1 died, so grp 2 was left w/ a shaman and druid healer and well, they died too. so then came rez time and rebuff time. we were sitting there in the middle of rebuffs when so dumb@$$ pulled naggy back out silghtly past us, almost to drawbridge and died on purpose cause they thought it would be funny. so naggy comes stolling back in and mops all of us up in under 30 seconds(we still were gathering corpses for some people). ok round 2 we all died 2 or more times by this point, and that same person pulled naggy again and it wiped us out again. we got fed up with it and petitioned him(will leave his name anonymous). after we finally killed naggy and were finishing looting him(about 30 min later) a gm talked to all of us and said that we ks'd the beastlord that kept training us. he reported that because that beastlord was in "combat" with naggy, naggy was his mob. i dont know how they figure that but we all got warned not to do it again. so answere me this, how is 1 person that con'd blue to a 52 gona solo a dragon? and for some reason the gm seemed to take his side instead of takeing action agasinst the person traing it on us.

My guild is planning a Lord Nagafem raid in May. Anyway, I have been reading some posts on different boards about Nagafem and I have seen 2 or 3 posts where people state soloing or duoing Nagafem is possible. Is this real? It doesn't add up to me. Anyone have any experience with this?

This is a few months after it happened, but tactics should apply.

We managed to take Nagafen down with 16 people, some of whom were in their late 40s. The key was a tactic I haven't seen mentioned here (if it is, it must be something I've missed).

We had only 2 dedicated Healers, a pair of Clerics, but a boatload of tanks and DPS, which is pretty much what clinched it for us. This is how it broke down:

Usual tactics apply. Get Resists up as high as possible. 65 Buffers are key if you go with a small raid force, have them buff you just before you engage. Add another group if you can't get the 65 Buffers, and it should work out to the same end result.

The 2 Clerics waited out in the Hall leading up to Lord Nagafen's chamber. They were nowhere near the Raid force, so no Healing Aggro generated at all. 1 Monk was assigned to do corpse pulling. Tanks engaged Lord Nagafen, and as people were low on health, they would stop attacking, allow aggro to go elsewhere, and would run out into the Hall for a Complete Heal (each group had a Druid or Shaman for Spot Healing). If anyone died, they would immediately consent the Monk who would drag the corpse into the Hall for Rez, Healing, and being thrown back into the battle. It doesn't have to be a Monk, anyone who can lose Aggro (Necro/SK/Monk) through Feign Death would probably work. They are DPS, but primary role is staying alive to drag corpses out for quick ressurections. Spot healers job was not to keep people at full health, but to keep them alive long enough to rush out for a Complete so they could come back.

With more people, you could station a buffer with the 2 Clerics as well.

This worked far better than we expected, as we had not gone in expecting to win (the effort getting there had been great enough that we were not leaving without taking him down). We even had a few people Feared over the course of the fight, and still managed to win. Key is for people not to panic, know when they are in trouble so they can rush out for the quick heal, and for the Assigned Tanks (you will need at least 3 to do this properly) to announce when they are switching out aggro with each other.

Average Raid Level was about 51, so this was not a maxed out group. At the time I did this, I was a 49 Warrior.

If you're going with 40-45, 5 groups MAY be able to do it, using the tactics I mention above (with 50 Healers). You would, however, absolutely need at least 2 50-52 Healers and a 50+ tank, or you're pretty much guaranteed to wipe hard. As CheshireCat explained, the AOE Blasts will absolutely mow through hitpoints, and since you need to be within melee range for casters, they'll drop like a sack of hammers if they aren't up there on their own hit points or have rapid spot healing available.

# May 29 2004 at 7:03 AM Rating: Decent
Naggy is a wuss, we did him last night with 2 cleric and 2 sham and about 13 other melee, he's a gimp for a dragon. If you have about 150 mr and fr buffed and decent gear, you can take him no prob. In fact, we had him to 11 percent the first time, with only 1 cleric lvl 47 and one sham healing, he is weak, but bring good dps. We only had about 3 or less groups of people actually on the fight, and second time no chanter even, or haste :P (damn tank rushed in before getting us haste bahh) He is weak and actually farmable, but i aint gonna say how though about 3 lvl 65's and a couple lower lvls can do him easy.
RE: HELP?
# Dec 28 2003 at 11:00 PM Rating: Decent
I doubt it. If your highest is 45, I doubt it. Plus I believe there is a level minimium to get in there of 42 or 44 or something like that. The real issue is his AE blasts. That chews up hitpoints and 4 or 5 groups translates into maybe 30 people. I'd call it "iffy". May want to find a tank above level 50 for sure to be the main tank.

Just wondering if I could get some of you who have succsefully raided and killed Naggy could post your comments about that acctual raid. Please include what classes and how many of each and total number of toons involved. It would also be nice to know the startagy that worked for you as well.
I only ask because I am planning a raid on Naggy and am taking 5 groups of 44-52 level people. Hope to have a cleric for each group and at least 3 shammens and an equal amount of chanters, mages or wizzards with the rest being melee classes. Group 1--MT, MA, MH(cleric), AH(cleric), MS(shammy), and a melee. Group 2--meleex3, cleric, shammy, wizzy. Group 3--meleex3, cleric, shammy, chanter. Group 4--meleex3, cleric, chanter, wizzy. Group 5--cleric, magix3, wizzy, chanter.
Each cleric will look after there own group outside of AoE range(hopefully) and the chanters can try and stun to break AoE casting from naggy plus tash and slow. Melee will just smack away, shammys will slow and dot(maybe cast chloro, regen or melee), magi and wizzy will nuke some at begining then chain nuke at 25% health.
Just wondering if this combo will work and any info about the range of the AoE spells or any other usefull info would be great, thanks.

Ok here's some facts as of yesterday (Dec 38, 2003)...

On The Rathe a pickup raid formed in PoK, reforemd into groups at druid rings in Lavastorm with 25 people. High level guildmates of whomever organized the raid cleared out everything they could in Naggy's Lair while groups were forming. I dont remember specific class and numbers but there was only 1 cleric, 2 warriors (both 51) and 2 rogues (one was 50 and I was the other at 46). So I guess that leaves a double handful of whatever.

We got wiped the first time in the Prep Room as Giants somehow activated Naggy in the midst of buffing and trying to solo pull the giants to remove them before the big battle. So Naggy marches into the room and game over. I was feared and beaten down to 21% health before I was summoned back into Naggys Room somehow and she slew me there with her area effect breath. Let me tell you that corpse recovery was soooo not fun. Rezzing, rebuffing... MR was 140 FR was 150 for the big battle, and thats with 65 Druid buffs and some bard in my group playing his tunes. Total time to engage dragon was over 3 hours at this point due to rezzes and buffs and trying to get idiots to coordinate.

Here's how it went down. Main Tank (MT) from group 1 rushes in with group and draws aggro. Cleric keeps him alive along with assistance from any druids and whatnot. 10 seconds later remaining groups rush in and GET BEHIND Nagafen. This was key. Naggy cannnot Riposte which is basically free damage if you are behind it. And NO ONE TAUNTS except the MT. Bards spend the entire time playing resistance songs. Last group which enters at the discretion of the Raid Leader came in with Wizzys and other blaster types and nuked away when Naggy was at appropriate health level. I didnt personally see that point because I was slowly nuked to death by Naggy's AE Fire. Lowest it hit me for was 98. Max was 500. It seemed to hit mostly in the 140's or so. 9 of those and I was back in PoK awaiting a Rez.

On the plus notes my brother won the roll for Gauntlets of Fiery Might (he was 51 Bard). To the best of my knowledge Those Gauntlets dropped, Treasure Hunter's Satchel, Orb of Whatever, and another pair of Gauntlets that I dont see up there. Wierd.

Anyways all in all... have some HPs, some massive resistances, at least one healer in your group who's looking out for you (would be nice, eh?), get behind Nagafen to avoid his Riposte, and do NOT draw his aggro. All in all not to bad. Was my first raid and the first dragon I had seen.

Your Idea there sounds pretty Good

taking 5 Groups you should be pretty set, just a few things to make sure of.

1. Make sure Members have 100+ FR / MR

2. Do Not push him into the Lava (He Regens in there)

Whenever I fought him, We used a Charge tactic, no real MA, just clerics watch Everybody, one person is disignate to start the Charge, but everybody just go in and smash him, Push him back to the back wall in his Lair and beat him down there.

I have seen Raids from 5 people - 50 People used to beat him.

Resists!

Get your resists up before wasting your time trying him. Everything I read said that resists are key to surviving a Naggy raid, so I took some time to get my fire and magic resists over 100 unbuffed before trying. I assumed others would do the same. Boy was I wrong.

This weekend I went on my first Naggy raid. Things went well until we actually got to Naggy. We wiped because everytime he cast that fear spell I found myself almost alone tanking Naggy, my only company was one other guy. Apparently no one else on the raid bothered with resist gear. With so many people, I was really surprised that so few were actually prepared to do what they came to do.

Bottom line: If you are running from the fear or taking full damage from the fire, you ARE NOT helping to take down Naggy, you are just adding one more corpse to be retrieved from between his toes. I ain't kidding when I say resists are important.

Thanks to those who dragged and res'd by the way.

went on a raid today...sucked... bad planning, bad peeps, no dps, and hardly any heals. We had two deaths before we even got to the giants. Then we're at the giants and I'm getting tells like crazy from the TWO clerics that are trying their hardest to save the butts of the THIRTEEN warriors for twitches. Well I'm twitchin till I'm almost oom and then some stupid bard accidently sang an AoE song or something and puled another giant...we weren't ready... I was the only necro on the raid..there was one chanter... one monk...and two bards (I dont know which sang that stupid AoE song) so I was almost oom and I could tell I was gonna die so I moved my mouse up for one last twitch and I fell in the lava and i didn't notice but my hand slipped and I was back in the PoK before ya knew it cause my gate and twitch gems are right next to each other (I gotta fix that) and then i turned around and saw 50+ peeps in some guild getting ready to raid something...and...I went LD....very weird... Ok thats my story, srry it had no factual stuff about Naggy seeing as we never even freakin got to him! All I can say is whatever you do dont bring along 13 warriors unless you can heal them, and get dps its vital! Of course this might be apparent but when your recruiting peeps for 2+hours your logic goes funny. Never again will I go on a naggy raid...not worth it for this necro.

Unfortunately your 6 people are all twinked with end game gear, have their epics and the 3 clerics you use have a mana pool big enough to drown Lord Nagafen in and the Warrior uses post epic weapons!
I have personally witnessed these guys drop Nagafen with 5 but if you ask them to show you how and you wipe while learning....they are there to take your kill and loot after you beat the dragon down to 20% for them!! (<--- Happened to me)

We did with 30 on xev recently, In the end, lots of deaths, round 14, but the average lvl was 46. Most deaths happened when casters ran in and forgot to get re virtued. We just rammed him. We did all and out war. Casters didnt run when attacked, just nuked there way to oom, and tanks just wahked and wacked. We did this with no clerics or necro. Cleared the entire way. 3 deats on way, 2 at prep room and king, 14 at nagafen. Got some cool screenshots, no uber loot even though the cof dropped. No scale for epic. I wanna stay lvl 51-52 until i kill nag and vox at least 3 times.

ALthough I may have missed it in the numerous posts regarding this mob, I wonder at the fact that no one has mentioned Naggy's Summoning ability. After getting feared on a recent raid I thought "oh, ok...when fear fades I'll run back in for another go"...NOT! Before fear faded I was summoned back so Lord Nagafen could make toejam of me...and several of my companions. After three wipes we gave it up for a bad idea and limped off to lick our wounded bodies and pride...BUT WE'LL BE BACK NAGGY!
