Raid questions
# Jun 11 2002 at 9:31 PM Rating: Default
Would a ranger on a nagefen raid have a good chance of getting the CoF or do most guilds give it to warriors? We are going to go on our first raid as soon as our cleric, druid, and chanter get up to 50 (pretty damn close, i'd say a week or two) I would really like to get this cool cloak. Thanks!

Oh yeah, do you think we (50 druid cleric chanter and many other classes in 40's, we are a new guild) could even take nagefen's lair? Thanks for your advice.

Raided Naggy last night and the CoF went to a 47 mage. He was located in EC 10 minutes later. If your a planning on raiding Naggy, please don't waste the time of every tank that was kind enough to help you. Need Before Greed.

Who gets what depends entirely upon how the raid leader decides to distribute loot. Most pick up raids I have seen are FFa (all roll) while most guild raids I have seen/heard of they use NBG with certain classes given preference for certain all/all drops.

Whether you could get to Naggy and kill him would depend on a) how well you all know your class b) how many ppl you can get there and c) how willing you all are to die a couple of times until you figure out how to kill him :-)
kinda sucks...

My guild took about 7 people and started clearing the FGs in SolB. We did a great job and when we got to Naggy's room he wasnt even up, contrary to the info we were given previosuly. Kind of a bummer but I got PMT off Tranix and Mith Vambs off Warlord, whoo. Oh well

we took down naggy yesterday in about 3 min or so. It was relatively easy, considering it was my first dragon raid=) Nothing exceptional dropped except the satchel which is nice. Even though i lost all the rolls, I still had a great time. Well GL to you all=)

I was a level 51 Bard... Barely alive... last tank out of the entire raid party to live -- took on my sebilite croaking dirk and Guardian mace and started bashing, playing resists and DS, had on wolf form and clicked on earring. All the healers had concentrated on me, but i alas died with Lord Nag down to the "L" in his name.

How did we win? Clerics smite, Mage Pets, Wiz Nukes, Druids Nuke, Shams Nuke that were bound at the buff room. They are the key to winning.
#REDACTED, Posted: May 29 2002 at 10:06 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) uhh bud, you cant wolf form in Naggy's Lair considering its a dungeon , now i know your gonna go post back to this and say you had werewolf form on but whatever

NAGGY RAID POINTS
Naggy fire resistant ae fearing(resistable suggestions for unbuffed SVM range from 70 to 140) ae fire casting (500 max resistable suggested unbuffed SVF range from 70 to 140) max attacks hit for 207 32k hp lotsa nice loot)
1 having a decent mix of peeps and all knowing their job
(ie 1 MA tank 2 healers bard / optional to group 1 monk rogue or others)
groups need to have at least two tankish types two healers others optional an alternate group of nukers to finish Naggy after aggro is well in place (i.e. 50% hp)
if the group is melee heavy then more healing abilities will useful
mission usefulness of classes
Warrior key for MA needs at least 2k hp unbuffed to gather as much aggro as possible
Bard secondary tanks but the extra resists for main group is really useful and the extra mana and life regen buffs and melee capabilities make this almost a necessity in main group and welcome in secondary group as well avoid aggro
Monks secondary tanks nice damage avoid aggro
Rogues secondary tanks nice damage avoid aggro
Paladins secondary tanks and emerg buff healing lay hands plus emerg reses if need in the capacity
Rangers secondary tank and emergency buffs healing
Shadowknights secondary tank emerg buffs?
Beast masters my knowledge is limited on this class but i will assume (cough) secondary tanks emerg buffs

Cleric Key for healing and preassaullt buffing also usefull and secondary to trade off on healinng to reduce aggro and to heal other healers with aggro (hopenot) ofcourse rez
Shammy secondary healing and debuffing preassault buffs poss DOTs if they can stick depending on how melee heavy the group is and how long the assault might be
Druids secondary healing and debuffing preassault buffs poss dots if they can stick depending on how melee heavy the group is

Enchanters Key preassault buffing (clar aug etc) aggro increase on ma and aggro decrease on others (ie the two ma healers then others) also debuffs (if high enuff to stick) and nuke abilities
Wizards nuking after aggro is established
Mage nuking after aggro is established preassault ebstones and lev rings for groups to avoid losing buffs and also ds buffs on tanks poss debuffing
Necro nuking after aggro is established manalife battery for healers tanks and then nukers poss debuffs buffs cr assistance

You can use higherlevels to clear out the fgs and yard trash prior to the raid and of course toss buffs)
Most of the time for the raid will be spent buffing setting up and prepareing for the rush (suggested buff order trash four slots ultra see invis lev etc stat buffs str for tanks int/wis for casters hasteline for tanks clar for casters hp/ac for tank/ hp for casters resist buffs svm svf

depending on the buffs available and then ones who can cast them once a char is buffed then camping to another alt and joining yer naggy wait chat room (group leaders have talk priveledge only possible depending on if you have a pickup raid or multiple guilds or mature raiders) till all are buffed and ready to log in raidchars and move.
the MA should come in first rush Naggy and force him into the back( avoid fighting him on the bridge it can get ugly), the first group clerics should move in then and and then start healing tradeing off or one healing the other healing the main healer first tens secs ae hits second group comes in tanks attack rest of first group attacks ten secs ae hits then rest move in and start assaulting once naggy hp is at 50 nukers join in to finish
avoid buff loss on first group and others with hotkeyed eb stones and lev rings
the MA should have fast delay procing weps for more aggro and chanter buff agggro works well MA should also keep four slots free for celestial rune 4 and bard songs ONLY MA taunts
cleric should avoid ch ( is CH trade off is useful for higher raids) dot healing and quik heals work betterr for less aggro
suggested 49 plus to land nukes and stuns but dunno with debuffs if that is a firm number

All raiders Turn OFF unneeded channels i.e auc shout /ooc battle spam (use force hits mode if you want to see your combat) etc
Channels
MA (in channel group leaders main healers MA Raid leader only MA and Raid Leader can talk) need etc atttack etc pull back etc heal etc
Groupleaders (in channel Group leaders Raid Leader) Need trash buffs oom lom need etc
MAhealers (in channel Main healers and secondary Healers and raid leader) i.e medding secondary clerics take over LOM need help with MA heal have aggro etc
Raid Leader (in channel all only raid leader can talk) i.e. MA move in clerics move in group2 move in group 3 move in bash other side to keep naggy out of the lava back off to let MA increase aggro etc

Macros
MA /tell chanter loseing aggro buffs /tell main healer secondary healer losing heal buffs /tell chanter Rune gone
Main healer /heal incoming /1 healer channel need free secondary to heal main assist me
secondary healers /channel mahealers free to help /target ma cast heal

Deal with looting issues prior to raid will make life ezer ie raid points rolls etc if there are items that most will not use arrange to auction them off with half cash going to the guild and the rest being sparsed to those who joined in Need before greed

Prior posters mentioned they saw Peeps aucing shammy and cleric won roll items in ec a day after the raid i too have seen a shammy auctioning a item from a raid not a a few hours after he won it perhaps raid points would be the best way to deal with this kinda of greed or banning of those that fail to return a item when they have better rather than selling it

FYI i shamelessly stole most of this information from the posts in the last couple of pages, was going to use it for mine own purposes but I hated having to scroll thro the tripe, flames and useless dross and felt that the needed info should be on top where us surfers could find it) Thanx to those whose posts i looted am glad yer posting helpfull info too bad it is buried by bs postings P)

I haven't raided myself my own information on some classes is limited so feel free to reply with added usefull info, constructive criticism WITH better solutions, for the flamers dont waste yer time flaming them back just bury their posts with ratings so we can read the good stuff)
and it sux to be a wiz and write somthin like this lol
Have fun Take chances make yer own paths Be loyal to those that do you well and harsh with those that do you wrong GH GL )

some minor bits of info :)
max attacks hit for 225, not 207

2k is about average to slightly below average unbuffed HPs of a lvl 52 warrior. 4k HPs on MA and SA is nice.

Bards are a must to boost those resists.
Healers priority targets are the MA and the bard in their group.

4 junk buffs are good, he does dispell... yes, definitely nice to have higher levels there to clear FGs and buff Naggy killers.

Nukers can begin nuking at 70% - best called called by the MA/SA or Raid Leader.

Most important is to listen to instructions and follow them. Don't wander around while waiting, don't pull extra mobs to kill for something to do. And make sure you take Naggy by himself, without his personal guard (Magus Rokyl?) there beside him. He can be the difference between success and failure.

Excellent Summary Heisenberg!

For tanks the nices item is Cloak of Flames, i suggest that if your 45 or above you should go on a Naggy raid soon and try to get one, me and 35 other people killed him April 21, 2002. make sure if your raiding that you have atleast 34 or so people or it won't work we failed on the first attempt and had to get more people

Actually, having more people often times slows the raid down, adds more confusion, and can even get you wiped out. On Torvonnilous, he's been taken out by as few as 18 people.

Ok someone said Vox was just as tuff as Naggy. i find that hard to believe, Im in a guild wanna kill a dragon. we can muster 2 50+ strong groups and 2 good 40+ groups can we kill?
RE: can we kill
# Mar 30 2002 at 1:37 AM Rating: Decent
Actually I would say Vox is worse than Naggy just because of the complete heal, she gets it off might as well expect a CR.

Also, if someone gets feared into the pits doing Vox (seen it happen a few times), you have the dier wolves to deal with possibly. Seen raids get toasted not by Vox but by the wolves.

40+ groups?

Well except for melee and clerics, your people need to be 49+ I would say with 4 groups. Don't expect a nuker or stunner (stunner handy against Vox) to land anything unless they are 49+.
RE: can we kill
# Jun 07 2002 at 3:49 PM Rating: Default
I'm lvl 46 Wiz, I got off 3 full conflags for 600+ each and 2 partials so what you said about needing to be 49+ if your a nuker is just plain wrong. Granted wizzies get less resist than other nukers but even so, mages should be able to land a few also. Sounds to me like you need to stick to fighting PCs.
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 30 2002 at 12:00 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Vallon Zek rules; for all you wimps who won't come play on a pvp server and insist on playing on your carebear servers you don't know what it can be like getting to some spawns, and some people are more than happy to kill you if they want to kill what you are camping. Also you carebear server weenies don't RP enough, come on, high elves do NOT work with dark elves, Any self respecting Druid would not aid an Ogre or Troll. And the Iksar? They don't like anyone, and vice-versa, Iksar should only ever group with other Iksar. Sometimes the guilds on carebear servers are funny, they have wood elves and iksar in the same guild, that is just wrong. I like Vallon Zek and I think ALL servers should have the same rules as Vallon Zek. The non-pvp servers are a joke.

Respawn Rate
# Mar 18 2002 at 6:45 AM Rating: Decent
Just out of curiousity, does anyone know what the respawn time is for the good Lord Nagafen? As a Minstrel of the 52nd song I am looking forward to killing this foul beast as many times as it takes to retrieve his coveted scale. Just curious as to how long between each death I must wait to exact another whooping on him. I have heard anywhere from 3 to 6 to 18 hours, and some folks are even saying up to a week. Any info is appreciated. Also, if you are on Povar and planning a killin' of either Vox or Naggy, and need a songster to tag along....Softsong is the name...have gun, will travel
RE: Respawn Rate
# Apr 02 2002 at 11:24 AM Rating: Decent
Naggy's timer is seven day plus 1 to 24 hours. Unless you are planning to run a Naggy raid with the scale defaulted to yourself and you are 52 you best be putting all your xp to aa : )
RE: Respawn Rate
# May 03 2002 at 5:04 PM Rating: Default
ya im gonna get to 52 and toss all into alt xp (after i got enuff backup for 2 or 3 deaths) personally i hate the seniority system on tunare... i plan on co-leading with a friend of mine defaulting the CoF to us (if it drops) the scale can go senior along with all the rest of the loot... (till next lead when i go for scale)
and to whomever said 70 to magic and fire is their minimum... that sux... i can get to about 140 on each unbuffed... (double your requirement)

Also good luck to all raiders non-senior or otherwise.

Take down Naggy
# Mar 11 2002 at 10:01 PM Rating: Default
From what I've experienced the success of the raid is all about the leadership. I've seen plenty of successful dragon raids where there was an orginized leadership and a set time at which everyone is supposed to show up. Alternately I've seen only one complete failure againsed Vox where the leadership was not too good. We werent orginized in setting up and buffing and ultimately the whole thing turned into a CR. This is the way it's done on the test server (yes i said test server =P. I'll admit tho players on the test server are ussaly more skilled and experienced than production server players hehe *shameless jabb* but poorly equiped) We have 1 MA with a retinue of support staff, cleric, bard, cleric, bla, bla. Thats the first group. After the first group rushes in everyone else waits 10 secconds and then runs in after to slam Naggy. We always have a group of 55+ characters outside beforehand to buff everyone up and ba-da-bing the loot is randomed out with a few grumbles and hearty congratulations to the winners. Naggy and Vox are never pickup raids, we just don't have the player base. Consiquently im leading my first Naggy raid this Friday or the next, sorry if I insulted anyone but from my perspective it's all true. I came in here to get some tips from someone who's already takin Naggy down but all i found was crap so excuse me if im a little insulting ^__^

i have done naggy several times with several toons and every time it seems he droped:

Orb of tishan
cloak of flames
heiro crook
some scales
treasure hunter's satchel

those are the only items i have ever seen drop off him and ive attempted to kill naggy 10 to 15 times. are the other items ultra rare or is it just my luck?

everytime i raid naggy "or vox" it takes 3 hours from zone in till the actually time he is pulled. so its basically 3 hours preparation for 2 minutes of fighting. mainly because of late comers and people going LD.

all loot on naggy raid is usually randomed with every class who can use because 99.9% of the time it is a pickup raid because most guilds dont have 50 lvl 45 to 52's because its such a slim lvl margin.

trust me, its just your luck. killed naggy yesterday dropped -

2 shaman hammers
druid crook
gold plated thing

and some other stuff i dont reemember (because they didn't let me roll on it) =( actually pretty bad loot there, but whenever i'm grouping in SolB... whenever i happen to "accidently" haste and Harnessing of Spirit myself... i turn from the Regular Shaman into... SHAMMYTANK! Da-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-Shammytaaaaaank!

i recently went on a naggy raid, and the prepping takes time, as does clearing all fire giants, etc. The actually combat with nagafen only took around 3-5 minutes. I'm fairly sure he doesn't have 32k hp...he went down too fast...his AoE fire spells do around 500 with **** poor resists, and his fear is resisted most of the time if your svm is 100+
