Naggy killed on Quellious 12/28. Dropped Pally book, Heiro Crook, Bladestopper, 100% wt. reduce bag, Gaunts of fiery might, very easy fight. Minimum deaths in groups with bad clerics, everyone in my group lived.

Even though he is only 55 and probably could be soloed by some really good Mage or Necro or maybe even a Shaman or Druid dont think Druids would be able to solo this guy though. I just love it when Verant gets all pissy and changes the rules. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Naggy is hard like dragon in WW...take around 25-30 person and go attack in same time...don't make attack wave because it's the best way to make your group down fast...cause when Naggy change target(aggro on a other) he doesn't attack...so if all tank taunt and all nuker cast Naggy will always change target so he will not attack =)

A Raid Gone Bad
# Nov 09 2001 at 5:21 AM Rating: Good
Well last night I went on my very first raid. A level 49 cleric of very humble means whose highest resist is 30 actually got invited to a raid! It was interesting to say the least. We were 30 people of varying attributes and we, of course, buffed alot of stuff then the more important ones. Hehe my mr resist was down near the bottom of a second row of buffs.

Since I have never been on a raid, I am the last to criticize but we obviously did something not quite right, though I heard Naggy had gotten to 10% at one time. I was in group two, though a few seconds after group 1 went in, we were all told to storm Naggy. Okay, I run in, see my tank getting hit, start casting and need to move even closer. Get the heal off but then feared again and again. Obviously the first problem was they invited me to be a part of the raid. =-(

I wonder if perhaps a slightly less enthusiastic assault would have been better? Maybe 1 battle group folowed by a second battle group about 30 secs later, mostly fighting just inside door and maybe clerics wouldn't be so deep in the lair? And maybe a slight retreat by the first battle group to get rebuffed and healed? Then perhaps the full force wave charging into lair?

I really do not know. I met alot of new and wonderful people and a few that were say less then ideal when it was over and voiced their opinions in less than gentle ways. I know someday, if I am ever to get my epic before I am 53 (seems stupid that you can't help kill Naggy when Ragefire is being camped), I need a lot more experience and teaching. I can only hope that the after fight invite to a Vox raid was sincere and that someday I will get to go again on a raid, successful or otherwise.

Off the side: After dying 7 times I quit marking deaths. Miraculously I only lost a little xp when I must have looted a non-ressed corpse. To those that led this raid and invited me, I thank you very much, IT WAS GREAT!

I will go on any raid with these guys. Think it was mostly timing and not quite heavy enough on true warrior classes for initial assault.

The key to Lord Nagafen is avoiding the two special attacks he has, an Area Effect fire spell and an Area Effect fear spell. Fire and Magic Resist mean everything with this fellow.

That pretty much says it all for Nagafen. The good news about prepping for him is it makes you start getting gear that will be needed later.
#Anonymous, Posted: Nov 08 2001 at 3:47 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) nagafen is NOT challenging to fight or kill by him self when othjer mobs such as fir giants and such are there its a different story but you get 10 53 shadow knights 10 53 clerics and 3 enchanters and that dragon is out in about 1 min if not less cause having all 10 SKs harm touch for 531 will take naggie down pretty low and all thge enchanteeers there then knock him into the lava if he isnt there alrredy and walla

Sounds good, but at level 53 a SKs HT should be slightly higher. The formula 10xlevel+1 stops at 40 (I think). After that it is +20 per level. I am a level 45 SK and did and HT for 521 (I think I just hit 45 today).

#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 23 2001 at 4:11 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I just felt like adding this minor comment. This is a game! It is where people have FUN! Not where they act superior in a video game and call everyone noob. The people who act superior and pick on others in-game are probably nerds in real life that get picked on and need this to make them feel better about themselves. I don't see how they could feel better about themselves when all they do is put someone else through the same pain that they went through. How does this vent out anger? This is mostly occuring in teenagers which is why this game's population isn't so bad. Some other games are simply terrible though. I guess you could say that we are lucky for having a mostly adult population in this game but we really aren't. No online games are. I wish that you could get banned on online games for acting like this and bothering people.

Okay, okay, I lied. I have seen one of the worse naggy drops ever. 3 shamans toys and lucky a CoF. Every shaman walked away with there naggy droped and immediately put into the bank or sold it. Grats to the warrior who won the CoF. Grats to the monk who won the mithril legs (don't ask).

My search for the guants continue!

My First Dragon Raid
# Sep 28 2001 at 5:47 PM Rating: Default
Pick up raid after the patch... Of course it's was very mobish and nobody really worked well together, but with the brute force of 6 groups we pretty much lumbered to the teeth room with a couple of people randomly dieing. hit teeh room for "buff time." Picked up up 4 crap buffs, then clr buffs like mad, then fr/mr. got a haste and regen. I bummed some FR gear of a bud and after buffs had 180ish FR and after bard song 225. I"m a lvl 45 monk w/1200hp I figured I'd never really aggro Naggy and just had to worry about the AoE... umm getting hit for 180-450 a go EVEN WITH 225 FR... then next thing I knew the silly dragon was hitting me? what the heck did I do to make him mad? ran away like a little girl. got my *** suommoned and killed. (all this in like 5 seconds, If I was thinking with something other then adreanaline and cherry coke I would have FDed).. Oh well weird *** loot afer raid we all rolled, highest 6 picked up the 6item drops in order. I was 6th :-) the 4th guy didn't want anything and he picked the crown and gave to me and got stuck with Mith greaves. I'M happy, but it left a lot of people mad thinking that certain drops should be class specific and NBG (really wanted that satchel though -went to a chanter and Ironicly the 13cha hat went to me). WEEEE no more Exe hood. -Thhin Lizzy, Order of the Lost Circle, E'ci

RE: Spawn time..
# Dec 12 2001 at 2:03 AM Rating: Default
They say it's once a week... but it's more like 7 days after he's been killed AND he respwans everytime the servers are down for a good patch.

We've raided Naggy like 5 or 6 times in the past 6 days because he keeps respawning cuz the servers keep going down for these Luclin patches :)
Seems easier now adays

Well i was recently hunting in SOL B and a few members of Valon, one of the uber guilds on Terris thule came in and just shouted asking if anyone wanted to go on a Naggy Raid. Pretty soon they had a pretty good amount of people, ranging from lvl 42-53, and just waltzed in there and beat Naggy down in about 2-3 minutes. I was VERY suprised, they put the raid together with just some random people and only took about 30 minutes to put it together. I wasalso surprised to hear that only 2 or 3 people died in the raid. Next time something like that comes up, im in, although Im sure the one time I decide to join one of those type raids everyone will die and I will somehow end up loosing all my equipment, lol. That would be just my luck. Well thought I would just share that with you, it was pretty cool that they put the raid together so easily and end up doing very well. Maybe my guild will go on a Naggy raid in a while, who knows.

Dos and Dont's
# Aug 23 2001 at 10:44 PM Rating: Excellent
Just came off from my first Naggy raid and wanted to check the drops on him so I thought I'd post a little about my experience too.

First of all this was a pickup raid. This is not a recommended strategy but for those of us that doesn't have the means to fill up the raid with our own guild this is probably the only way to get to see Lord Nagafen without instant death as a result =). Why isn't this a good way of raiding? Well, the reasons are obvious, you get alot of "trash" and by that I mean people in their low teens that doesn't really have the maturity level to sit still, be quiet and follow the shouts of strategy from the raid leader. No flame here, it's just a fact. Also, you get alot of redundant classes from what would be considered an optimum constellation for killing the Lord. You also get a huge number of people that doesn't trust each other and have no bonds of loyalty to each other. Anyway, the raid was open and there was about 70 to 80 people there, WAY too many in my opinion. Lord Nagafen can be taken with far less if you had the right classes for the job. The lvl range has an upper cap as you might know and the leaders decided 43 as the lower cap.

Strategy as called out by the RL was that he aggroed it, got it to the doorway at the top of the stairs. There the call came for the tanks to get in the fray and that we did. We were doing fairly well and soon the Lord was on his way to 50 percent health. Healers were of course behind us in the stairwell casting heals for all they were worth. This is where the problems kicked in. In the effort of getting to Naggy groups were spreading out a bit thin, meaning among other things that bards got out of range as well as some healers (as I said, there were too many people there and one couldn't move unhindered). Due to the long startup time the buffs were starting to wear off which meant tanks were dropping like flies. When the Lord was at 50 percent health the call came for the nukers to start their casting. Another problem arose as the Lord was being pushed into the lavalake by us tanks. This meant we had to back off to give him room to get up again which of course meant more spells from Naggy =)

My buffs were wearing thin by this time and I was feared and then nuked a couple of times for some very nasty damage. One nuke did about 500 ( not sure though, I might have misread this in the excitement of the fighting) or so while others settled for 250 plus. At this moment, tanks lying all over the place, I got the message: "Lord Nagafen has summoned you" which of course was quickly followed by "You were slain by Lord Nagafen" So, almost no tanks left, Naggy bit into the casters. A wizzy friend of mine dropped and then, finally, the Lord went down.

Luckily we had managed to engage a cleric with a stick so resses were smooth (thank you very much for your time and help Hackete). This is the part where people stop trusting each other btw. RL was immediatly spammed by most of the trash on the raid demanding to know what stuff dropped and with allegations of him making off with the loot.

Thing to understand is that it takes time to sort out loot and then have it distributed. Loot order was NBG which is a good one but as always people have differentiating opinions of who needs what.

Drops were:
Orb of Tishan
Bladestopper
Blight, Hammer of the Scourge
Gold Plated Kashiasdfhasdjhfasdf
Treasure hunters satchel

Orb went to caster, hammer to a shaman (of course), Gold Plated to a rogue, satchel to monk and the Bladestopper to a 44 cleric (really funny btw, I still have a shield of Kurn, 10AC, 10sv magic so i wonder what the cleric had that motivated his need over mine, maybe a wooden shield? =) ).

Improvements:
Try to do this with your own guild and if that isn't possible get together an alliance with another guild that you know and trust. Decide your tactics before hitting the dragon and by that I mean define what classes should be there, the group constellations and of course how many people you need. A nice tank group is for example made up off a cleric, a bard and tanks/damdealers.
Keeping the Lord out of the lava is an important move and you should make sure your tanks are aware of this and can adapt by starting to bash him from another direction if needed. Keeping the groups tight is another important move even though it's a difficult one. if a tank or any other member is feared the cleric MUST STAY WITH THE GROUP and not try to save the groupmember by running after him and trying to heal. Fear will go away and he can get back to the group after that, or he dies and has to be ressed. Such is life when raiding =) Having a clearly defined loot strategy will save you alot of grief when distributing loot. And lastly, having people of the right mind, so to speak, will greatly reduce your preparation time meaning that buffs wont drop in midfight. Oh, I almost forgot, Naggy dispells so an important strategic move is to have 4 or so junk buffs at the top of your buffstack. These can be whatever (see invis, ultravision and so on) and will prevent him from dispelling the more important buffs, at least not right away =)

Phew, this became much longer then I thought it would be but what the hell, hope you got some useful information fro your own future Naggy raid and good luck. If I sounded bitter about the shield, well, it's cause I am, lol. Imagine, 25ac, 15sta and it goes to the cleric. Oh well, next time it will be with my own guild and at least i have now seen The Lord Nagafen himself and gotten some useful pointers about what NOT to do. Don't get me wrong, i want to thank the RL's, they probably did what they could with the people that was there.

47 shadowknight, The Rathe (where Nagafen now has to wait another week before he can get a meal of tanks again).

First of all, your post was very well written; good info, advise, tactics, and good spelling to boot.

Second, "decide what classes should be there", and "you get alot of redundant classes from what would be considered an optimum constellation"? WTF? That makes for 4 groups composed of: 1 Cleric, 1 Enchanter, 1 Shaman, and 3 melees each. That's 6 or 7 of the 13 classes, tops.

I am soooooo sick of the "optimal group". Give me a freaky pickup group ANYday over watching the typical powergamer collection <yawn>.

The shaman loot, which almost always goes to a shaman, isnt really that good. Its 2hb which isnt used too much due to the fact that 2 items normally have better combined stats than the 2 handed item. The hammer that goes to the shaman is pretty much at no use for a shaman unless its stats surpass your presently equiped items. Its just better to sell the hammer b/c not many shamans would use it at high levels.

Actually 2 mins is accurate. He gets meeleed down in about a minute and 15 secs or so, then the nukers finish him off, uber mobs hafta go down fast or the clerics will go oom and the tanks will die.(then the clerics, nukers etc...)
RE: Guild raid

Aye about 2 minutes.....Naggy is quite easy and out of the 5 groups we had only 3 peeps died....the trick was to keep the junk buffs up in order to protect you're FR MR and Aegolism :)

No its not.
We dropped Nagafen last night with NO WIZRADS, and only one Magician(fire pet). The key is Resists(aka Bards), good buff order, and healers that know wtf they are doing.

I come here to learn a little bit about different stradegys for naggie and which i liked best. All i do is feel mad and worked up cuz everyone yelling nOOb (i think they feel cool writeing that, like look how cool i am and your a nOOb). These post are for posting your experiences and stradegies and this is rediculous. People yelling what a newbie, i bet he is lvl 3!, or somthing to that effect. ohh and my favorite STUPID KIDS... i bet he is 13-15
(what serious mature adult would say this) so teens are yelling at themselves plz dont do that guys. (for i am 14)

PLZ post what you need to do to help others, and dont yell at eachother ... just rediculous EQ is to me an escape, my own little fanisy world i go to when somthing is wrong or i am bored or need to cool off, and people doing stupid stuff just ruins it and makes it like RL.

sorry for all the info but you get the idea, nice posts! heck allakhazam is having trouble paying bills so we can fight with eachother?!?!
i dont think that was their intentions

and show respect for naggy , prettty biiird
