The shadowmen come in the classes of Warrior, Monk, Cleric and Necromancer. The Necromancers tend to look like books, while the Priests have the appearance of Snow cones. The Warriors tend to show their weapons, while the monks are invisible (save for their name).

Shadowmen hang out at fixed locations, usually in groups from four to seven. They do not have a huge aggro radius, but are social so Harmony can be very handy in fighting them.

Shadowmen move very very quickly. If you're trying to run from them, you will need a high level bard with a magical drum to be able to escape them, they can outrun all forms of Spirit of Wolf.

Shadowmen drop numerous items for numerous quests. So many items are dropped that it can be a maddening experience trying to get the one you need. It has been theorized that the shadowmen in different zones are more likely to drop the various items.

Most of the items they drop are Temporary meaning they will disappear if you log out.

In Innothule Swamp:

In Nektulos Forest:

  • This mob spawns at -1450,+824.

faction

in mistmoore, there is a way to raise you faction with the temple, without killing shadowed men. near the grave yard, or behind it there is a shadowed man who doesn't aggro(and he's alone). inside the building infront of him, there is a flower sitting on top of a coffin. bring it back to him and you get good faction with the temple.

Very true. The shadowed man in question is Ssythi (i believe), and has abandoned his shadowed roots and works for the temple of sol ro. the flower is on top of the coffin inside the building in the graveyard, and repops about once a minute. Ssythi, on hailing, will ask you to go and get the flower for him (her?).

The reward for this quest is temple of sol ro faction and a necro only secptre with one triggered charge of clarity II. There are no experience nor coin rewards for this particular quest.

Beware, however, the little building: there is a harsh (30pt or so) fall trap that sends you straight down into underground mistmoore, and there are some tough mobs down there. only about three, but they are much higher than the mobs that are in the graveyard. To get out of this trap, follow the only path until you reach a room with three doors. Don't open the doors... check for one of two hidden walls that will take you up a short incline and deposit you straight back in the graveyard.

i only wish i was a necro and could use the clarity II. =)

merri.

Can I find a Single Spawn
# Mar 23 2000 at 9:38 PM Rating: Decent
I'm a 28 Mage, and I CAN take one, but usually only one, unless its two non-dual wielding warriors in which case i can take one, and gate out before pet dies, hehe... Anyone know a single spawn?
Shadowed men spawns
# Mar 23 2000 at 12:58 PM Rating: Decent
Shadowed men spawn only in their camps, in groups of 2-5 (this is true for all camps). It is not possible to stagger the spawn, as the respawn is not triggered until all shadowed men have been killed. So, it's effectively impossible to solo shadowed men until you are high enough level (37 or so) to pull singles.

This is completely false. They respawn the exact same way as any other camp. You CAN stagger them and you DON'T have to wipe out the whole camp to get them to respawn.
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 16 2000 at 1:11 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Is there a place that anyone knows of where only one or two shadowmen spawn? If so where?
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 16 2000 at 9:09 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) they also drop some no drop enchanter only gloves.. forget the name offhand.
shadowed men

both the men and thier pets are summoned mobs. i was fighting them the other day and having particularly good luck using dismiss summoned on them. also, be stongly advised that casting an anti-summoned spell on them will REALLY tick them off.. make sure your tank has a really high taunt ability or yer in for a beating LOL
ok, i need that patch...
# Mar 15 2000 at 10:31 PM Rating: Decent
I fought these suckers for about 3 hours and didnt get a patch of shadow (for the acumen mask quest). Is this a rare drop or do some shadowed men in certain areas (e.g., wc s. men and lf s. men) only have them? (btw and the site says that they are both summoned, and im pretty sure they arent undead cause they cant see invis [ im pretty sure])
Summoned

I hear that both the men and the pets count as summoned, and therefore anti-summoned spells work on either. Great for Druids/Mages and others who have such spells with huge damage/mana ratios. Anyone know if this is true? (Don't want to try it myself until I hunt them regular, they do not go aggro on me now, Wood Elf Druid).
factions

these guys dont always agro you either. i'm elf druid, and ran right next to one in lavastorm when i got lost once. close enough to spit on the guy, and he never bothered me. guess it depends on your class/race/diety, but i dont think your KOS till you kill a few of them. (oh, and i waws 22 at the time, so no, i did not have wolfform OR treeform, this was after treeform movment nerf)
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 08 2000 at 9:39 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I would like to know if Shadowed Men are considered as undead. If they are, I have some sort of a chance :) How often do they resist spells? Very high magic-resistance?
*Major* Mis-Con
# Mar 06 2000 at 8:31 PM Rating: Decent
Shadowed men are one of the most serious mis-cons in the game. They hit *hard*, run *fast*, and those danged priests heal 1/2way when they need to(happened 3 times, got me & groupmate killed). A level 28 Necromancer with a 18th mage (hey, I need the faction. still do at 29! Vallon Zek, gimme a tell) couldn't solo *one*. Good luck, and your god be with you.
Great Faction
# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
Thest things are the mortal enemies of the Temple of Ro. If you kill them the faction raises with the Ro temple. A great way for the evil races to enter the temple without becomeing temple offering.
Shadowed Man varieties...
# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
Shadowed Men can be clerics, necromancers, or warriers. They also run very, very quickly. You cannot outrun them with SoW.
Nektulos Forest Shadow Man
# Feb 25 2000 at 6:17 PM Rating: Decent
The shadow man in this forest is to the left of the far side of the bridge near the edge of the zone. He is in a deep pit next to some sort of standing stone and is quite visible since you are usually looking where you are going..
RE: Nektulos Forest Shadow Man
# Aug 19 2000 at 6:35 PM Rating: Default
You make it seem like there is only ONE shadowed man in ALL of the Nektulos forest. If this is the case, then I like this very much!!! Anybody know when an enchanter can solo one of these things?
No Subject
# Feb 23 2000 at 10:01 AM Rating: Decent
Newbies, do NOT take a right turn at the bridge in Nek, not only will the halflings kill you, but If you make it past them, you'll be killed by 3 young kodiaks and a shadow man at the same time... This happened to me at lvl3
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 16 2000 at 11:34 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Also need a patch of Shadow for the Acumen Mask quest
