Same thing happened to me - After I'd just een given some swanky Phantom armour - I fell it, got eaten, dived back in got eaten again, Dived back in again - got my staff back, then got eaten again. Finally I managed to get my staff back again, the Phantom armour had gone.
I sinced found out about the /corpse command that "teleports" your corpse to your side if your about 50 feet from the body. Duh!

Hit with Rapid Fire Non-Bite Spells
# Jul 15 2001 at 5:42 PM Rating: Default
Hello, When i engaged the single large Pihrhana,I took one chump then I cast a Druid LVL 5 spell to Invoke Lightening. The next thing I know, I received five hits from non-bite (17 damage each) in rapid fire. Then I was dead...fast. What and how did the damage occur?

Qwirt

"Where will this all end?"

Invoke Lightning is an Area of Effect spell. So one of two things happened:

1) a merchant or other npc was in range of the effect, got upset that you tried to zap him, and killed you,

or (more likely since you would have noticed if it said "Halfling_X hits you for 17 points")

2) YOU were in range of the effect, and zapped YOURSELF.

You are NOT immune to your own AoEs. Important to remember.

I just thought I'd point out that the druid version of Invoke Lightning is NOT an area of effect spell, though the ranger version is.

A druid's Invoke Lightning is a single target spell.

Just a guess but I bet lightning in water is a bad idea. I suspect the water conducted it or perhaps you may have accidently targeted yourself.
