I dediced to see if I could raise tradefolk faction easy on this guy and no you can't easily level up coalition of tradefolk on him. hes a big lose on river vale and a lose gain the fact hits are:
-30 merchants of rivervale
-1 deeppockets
-4 guardians of the vale
-4 mayor gubbin
+1 coalition of tradefolkunderground

Mangler is Kevlin Diggs' guard dog. If you go in the room behind Kevlin, Mangler will aggro on you. When you run away he'll attack anyone in his path. To avoid the bad faction hit zone out. I've had many run ins with this mutt, I usually /shout "Mangler is loose, Everyone zone out to avoid a RV Merchant faction hit". It's the #10 hot key on page #10. It's almost always newbies or travelers exploring RV that get him on the prowl.

I charmed him, broke charm with invis and then used memory flux. After that he will con amiable till someone kills him.
Worthless Mutt

Humph! I'm level 50 & have fantastic faction in Rivervale, but the beast attacked me tonight. Irritating, to no end, I've been in Rivervale dozens of times before without problems, I think someone trained me while I was setting. Sheesh! The shame of being run out of a zone by a greenie because you don't want a faction hit.

Bad, BAD doggy
# Mar 26 2003 at 10:44 AM Rating: Decent
This doggy attacks everyone. No matter what race or class you are, or how good faction with Rivervale you have, still he attacks you. It is really disturbing to see him running around attacking people, whom train it to attack some other person. VERY annoying. :(
Grrrrrrr WOOF

This damn dog attacked me yesterday and I killed it. Dumb dumb dumb. Now I gotta find quests to improve faction again. :P
# Jul 07 2002 at 1:24 PM Rating: Decent
Mangler is part of a begginer rogue quest. You have to get past him the pick up the item for the quest. Druids and rogues can invs past him. If he does argo on you DON'T KILL, zone. If u kill him you take a maagor faction hit with all Rivervale factions.
It is a quest
# Mar 21 2002 at 10:58 PM Rating: Default
This dog is a *****, and I have had many experiances with it. Being a halfling and getting bad faction with your own city is not good. It is for a VERY low level quest where u gotta hide and sneak past the dog and get gold and deliver it... 3 blue bubs quest for a level 1, im gonna send a email to verant telling em to get rid of it

I was sitting by the bank in Rivervale with a lot of other people sitting around. I got up to go to the bank and this fhjhf mutt takes a bite at me but misses. I come back from the bank and sit down. The mutt is still there. Well, someguy decided to kill the mutt and I get a faction hit. I did not even remotely attempt to attack this mongoloid mutt and I get a faction hit from it.

Is there any way to restore the faction?

Well appears i'm no tthe only one who got jumped by this darn dog... i didnt know what was happening, here i was peacefully memorizing my spells near the Clerics guild and all of a sudden my book snaps shut and i'm faced with this crazy dog... so I do my best to kill it of course.. cause I have no clue what's going on.. and the guards didnt help me!! If i ran it probably would have killed me and I didnt know about the bad faction :( ah well.. guess I'll find out later how bad it will hurt.. but i got a wolf pelt from it.
How to be an A-hole

This @#$% mutt will attack anyone and everyone if you get too close to him - to ruin people's day, simply charm him then lead him to a high traffic area, tell him /pet guard here and then leave - you can shred the faction of everyone in area if someone's dumb enough to kill him.

He can be an amusing little menance though if you can withstand his attacks - he laid into my enchanter on my second visit while farming stiens of m. I thought that he was actually the dog with the fish but didn't kill him for fear of getting screwed with that barbarian that hangs around the docks. So there I am walking through town trying to deal with merchants, all the while with this mutt hanging off of my leg. :)

This stupid dog always is agro to me whenever i walk through Rivervale. I have to kick his sorry *** everytime cause the stupid halfling guards kos u if they see u trying to take him out. U lose bad faction, surprisingly. Yeah but who cares about rv faction anyway.
Bastid... rofl
# Jan 15 2001 at 8:15 AM Rating: Default
This little bastid was my first encounter with mobs, i visited his room with my level 1 druid and he attacked me. I had to kill him and it took away lots of good faction.. rofl
Dumb Mutt
# Aug 01 2000 at 9:28 PM Rating: Decent
He jumped my cleric, but once I left the armorer he didn't follow me. My halfling warrior was level three and he left me alone (go fig).
O yah
# Jul 05 2000 at 3:24 PM Rating: Decent
That attacking those high levels it is because he was trained on them.
# Jul 05 2000 at 3:23 PM Rating: Decent
I have had him argo on my 13 ranger and i have even seen him attack people in full POF armor. So as you can tell he is one dumb mutt.
No Subject

this mutt is a great danget to halflings and he spawns in the aurmor mackers house
# Feb 18 2000 at 11:18 AM Rating: Decent
This harmless mutt frequents the cleric guild in Rivervale, and will agro on Halfling druids and rogues (who knows what else). Kill this Mob, and faction will dive. He looks like A Black Wolf. It's really funny being attacked, and even more funny when non-Halflings visiting Rivervale get hasseled by Mangler. Humor the mutt, take some damage and then zone.
RE: Mangler

I agree. I was chilling with my man Twippie Diggs, when this Barb Warrior walks by. I hear him mutter something about the stupid mutt, and he says to me "zone" I thought nah I wanna watch. Well mangler turns to take ONE bite out of me. HE bit ME, and MISSED. I figured, I didnt assist in the battle, I shouldnt take a faction hit. So I pretended to zone, but turned around at the zone to see what was to become of the dog. Well, I see a faction thing display when he was killed, and I went back to my man Twippie, to keep chillin the way we do, and he is all of a sudden apprehensive to me. Now I ask you, from Amiable to Apprehensive, because of one stupid mutt, on a missed bite? Its lame. Note, your faction with the GUARDS and MAYOR GUBBIN will not change. Only your faction with RIVERVALE MERCHANTS will drop drastically. Ironically, your COALITIONofTRADEFOLK(Freeport) will skyrocket.l :) The description here I believe is slightly inaccurate. The guards still con amiable to me, its just the merchants that dont like me anymore..

anyone know what sets mangler off? was a newbie 2 or 3 level halfling rogue, run into shop to see what's for sale and cujo jumps me. so i kill the #%*@! didn't know about the faction hit.
RE: Mangler
# Jul 30 2001 at 9:02 AM Rating: Default
I was attacked by that dog just by left clicking on him, I didn't even consider him or anything, than the mutt chased me around town, I didn't immediately kill him because that shop owner would get upset with his dog being killed. Anyway, if you ever want to buy armor at that shop, just stand in the main doorway where the dog won't bother you

If you are a druid or chanter and see this faction shredder running amok in the town you should befriend him lead him behind the counter in the chainmail shop (the door on the left at the 3 doorway alcove off from main townsquare) where he actually spawns and remains if not trained. use "/pet guard here" and zone. usually that seems to end the crisis and he stays put when you zone back in.
