I'm camping him for the robe, and by camping I mean killing him until he drops one. He may've been nerfed to no longer drop the robe, and that's what I'm going to find out. The spawn time is 6 minutes. There is no spawn point for the PH, it spawns randomly all over the HG rock. I saw a lot of drakes, 2 Maldyns, 4 Hasten, 1 Zephyl, and then the servers went down. I must've camped him for 2 hours or so before he spawned. Zephyl had no robe, but a black headband and a torn tunic. He hits for 356ish, only doubles, really resitant to spells. 65 Elemental Monk and 65 Druid with Full Ornate took him. Not too difficult, but he does hit pretty good. I'll let you know how the rest of the camp goes.

Brother Zephyl in Rathe Mountains wants the Idol of Zan Fi, which is in the possession of Brother Raster, who spawns in the Mino Elders room in Lower Guk. Returning this Idol, plus a red sash, results in a special tailoring pattern.
Brother Zephyl is one of those NPCs who has been tuned such that you are not really supposed to kill him.

I helped a monk on this for about six hours last night, as a 65 ranger, along with a high level druid, so we had two trackers and we started noting the time "from spawn to spawn. Within the limit of human error, it was closer to six minutes than any other time, and it was predictable enough that I would call six minutes, we would both check track and we'd fine "a drake" or Hasten, or Maldyn or rarely Brother Z.
Sadly, we killed him 5 times, plus 3 on Brother Qwinn and no robe.
And I can confirm that he does summon, esp. when he is being trueshoted and the necro pet tank dies.

Ok here's the deal... all information regarding placeholders and pathing in this thread is correct. Spawn timer info and spawn location info seems a bit sketchy though. Here's what I've found...
Head to the hill giant area, and sit on the zone edge west of the HG hill. Spawns are almost exactly 6 minutes apart. The spawn location however, is random within a radius of about 100m of the west end of the hill. It sounds weird but it's true, I've seen it about 50 times now.
All the other posts are great, but usually they require you to sit someplace away from the real spawn area, resulting in the erroneous "12 min" (eg) spawn times. It takes the extra few minutes for the mob to path from the spawn to that spot.
For fastest killing of PH's, camp the west end of the HG hill.

Skarsis had good info...however, just head to their spawn point near loc p500 p2200, this isnt the exact point but i was able to see them spawn near here and i used High Sun (on my bard) to transport them to near this area....all three PHs mentioned by skarsis.

Okay guys I have a monk upcoming and I really want to get his epic done before epic 2.0 comes out. I have kill this guy prolly about 10 times and Brother Q about 5 times and now robes. WTF? are they not dropping anymore? Can anyone confirm this so I can just do the quest I guess. I thought I would just bypass the camping lguk crap but by the looks of it I guess not.

I'd seen somewhere quite a while ago that neither Qwinn nor Zephyl drop the robe anymore. Never bothered to follow it up, I got my epic a long time ago. Even if it's not true, The drop rate for the robes was never supposed to have been very good.

I've killed Brother Qwinn several times and Brother Zephyl once (having been doing the epic for my monk and my friend's) and out of a total of maybe 5 or 6 kills, got 3 robes.

good, but i found that both "a drake" and maldyn the unkempt pop in the hill giant area, nowhere near the hill he mentions. i use myseq / showeq so i can see when and where everything pops. have not yet seen brother Z or hasten, so can't report on where they pop yet.

The Info that Skarsis gave was great, am using it to spawn him atm. Killed him 3 times with no robe, had my 65 Ranger tank, a 65 clr friend heal & any one else thats free to help (56 Chanter Friend, 56 Bst guildie, it all works) Now, if only he would please drop the robe... =)

Agreed. Excellent info from Skarsis. It's quite useful to camp for them with a bard so you have some tracking ability and selos to catch that pesky Hasten if he's doing his usual Roadrunner thing.
The missus went with her bard and sat ontop of the Giants hill close to the tower there, noting that the "a drake" PH popped there 4 times in a row. Hasten may have popped in the same spot too, but he was running when she spotted him so can't confirm.

First off, I found the best place to camp him was at the far south mouth (between the giant hill and drake area). 7 min timer I think it was. I killed hasten a few times (can be done solo at 53 w/o much of an issue). After finally spawning and catching him, held him w/ hail until could get a few people together.

A few questions: Can Brother Zephyl be slowed by shaman, if he malo's first?
Brother Z also despawns fairly quickly. Will he despawn if you've gained agro and you kite him? (I'm thinking of camping him by myself, and sending for my friends when he spawns.)
Finally, what's the ruling on his robe graphic? Will he drop the robe if he appears not to be wearing it? Will he always drop the robe if he IS wearing it?

As of February 7th, 2004 the RoLC still drops from him I got it for my 59 monk. a 65 war and 54 cler took him easily warrior could have just about solod him.

you say it still drops but how long did it take you to get one. been camping him 6+ hours and got 2 brother spawns both without robes :(

Here is the low down..
Start by heading to Rathe Mtns by way of Feerrott. Head to the southern area, upon reaching the 3 way split coming from the zone. Take position at about -257, -1754, on top of a small hill, and face West. From this point you can see the whole area in which each PH will head from the West, and stop at a random point in your area. (BTW you should be near a skelly tower, inside of which stands two gnomes with funny names.) Now, it's just a matter of patience between spawns. Just kill the place holders as the come, (and in between hate Kazzel from a distance because he loves to hang around that area and make you jump), and you will eventually get Bro Z! Here's some info:
Spawns are about 12-13 minutes apart. Keep a good lookout. Missing one spawn could get you waiting quite a while for the next comearound.

I haven't been able to test it, but Hasten may come around sooner than the others due to his run speed, but I'm not sure.

Took this guy down while camping Hasten for my friends gimp. 65 Necro with 150ish AAs, and 65 cleric with 130ish AA's. Necro poped his pet and used poision and disease DoTs, while I chain CHed pet. Keeping Vie on pet was a giant bonus though. Pet would get to around 20% without Vie with a couple close calls. With Vie CH would land around 40%. It got close at the end, casue I wasn't prepared to rebuff Vie midfight and had to fast heal some to remem Vie.
Grats us monk robe, anyone know if its MQable for whistling fist robe? Don't think the Necro will be wearing it anytime soon, even if necros could wear.

i helped out a freind monk of mine been camping RM none stop (killing the required mobs the hasten, madlyn, and drakes) but for 57hours none stop and no Bro Z. is there a new way to spawn him or differnt info. plz fill me in

Was sitting and waiting for Hasten to show up and guess whom is up instead?.. of course Bro Z. after waiting for almost 2 games days...the monk that I was doing the jboots MQ for (that has a 65 cleric as a main) decided with agreement with a 65 ranger ( I am currently a 59 pally) that we'll take on Bro Z. Monk logs on the cleric and the ranger starts the fight with bro without us even buffing up yet.. oh well I thought.. time to die! But NO...he does hit fairly hard and often but the cleric kept us alive, he didn't summon and no stun would not land on him, it was just pure melee action and ol'fashion healing. He finally started walking away under 5% and of course I used up my DA and LH during the fight but we did it. Dropped a nice lil monk only head item.. forget what it was called but I will post it later since I did take a snap of it for all to see.

I'm currently in RM while posting this... have killed 8 or 9 drakes, 2 Maldyns, and just got Hasten... (good sign), hoping to get Z soon with robe!
Just a little info for people that don't have a timer or a clock when they're doing this, when you kill the drakes, their corpses rot in EXACTLY 8 minutes, and right after a new PH (or Z, of course) pops.

Not sure when he does and doesnt. I was playing with him with my 65 druid. I casted on him 3 times. Dotted him when he stopped....no good! tried snaring him when i got a lead.....no good! tried snaring him 2nd time...caught me, ouch! Needless to say, I zoned! I concluded that he has High Resist, can be outran with SoE ( but used hills against him to my advantage)and never summoned me at all! Doubtful he does summon. Almost al mobs that are 55+ that can summon, usually do when cast upon, least in my experience anyway. Just my 2cp..take it for what its worth
You need to get a summoning mob to 96% before he starts to summon. Also, the Mob won't summon if you have a PC (not a pet, but a player) within melee range that has aggro.

Mobs that summon do so whether or not there's someone in melee range who has aggro - if there is, they just summon that person. Since they're already in melee range, the only effect is a bit of disorientation.
However, it's very easy for someone not in melee range to grab aggro and get summoned, usually by overnuking. The tank may well get aggro back so quickly that the player being summoned never takes a hit, though.

We killed this guy on The Rathe server just a while ago. I can confirm what laink said about the robe graphics. If you zone out, when he has the robe on, you will -not- see the graphics. Through the fight, we were tottaly unable to land and Slows, Malis, and debuffs. He hits for a max of 350+, not over 400 though, and summons!
I'd suggest that when doing this guy, you get yourselves a good tank, and at least 3 healers, along with two other melees (one of them the monk who wants the item.) He is just not ment to be cast on with his resists. Oh, I tanked this as a beastlord with 4100HP, 1070AC (VERY low for a mob with a 350max hit... but we did it! so it should be very easy with a decent tank)
He ran when he was at 5 percent. Thats about all that I can give to you all info-wise :). If anything is wrong in this message please do correct, I'd hate to hand out inaccurate information.

was waiting for him to spawn to do turn in and he popped had a 65 epic mage that wanted to kill him....so we called in some back up, 65 warrior, 63 sk, 52 druid, 49 druid, 57 warrior, 61 monk, 63 necro, and myself a 55 monk...was way over kill. he popped and had robe graphic so i was jumpin for joy when we decided to kill him, cuz i figured he would have robe and in fact he did have robe.
Just my 2cp. people tell me when he does have robe graphic he drops robe.

I was camping Brother Z for 5 hours. I found on the spawn table 11 drakes, 8 grizzly bears, 3 Hastens, and no Brother Z on a six minute spawn timer. Has the spawn table changed cuz I thought I might see the named unkept druid.
