It was about my 10th attempt at the trial before I found one. Other posts appear to be correct, this spawns in place of the spirit of suffocation. For me it spawned on the very first wave of adds. I feel for those who haven't seen one spawn yet.
It also dropped 'Writ of Wisdom' currently not on this mobs loot table.

what's the deal with this one? done it nearly 100 times

I've done this task 18 times now, and have yet to get this mob for hunter. This is insane.
This thing can spawn in place of any of the 8 spirits of suffocation that spawn during the trial of hanging, but it's pretty rare: I probably had to do the trial 12 times before he finally made an appearance.
I'd have taken a screenshot to post, but he has no model, so all you'll see is his tag.

Ive done this trial for a week..still no appearance for this ******* mob smh.

I am having similar issues, Got 8+ hours invested over the course of 3 days and over 100 trials of hanging, can't get it to spawn. Anyone killed recently?

The person who posted is suggesting that the resolution was a "bug". That is something that game management did not intend to happen. To capitalize on such an occurrence is against game rules.

PM me if you run into this issue. A guildmate solved it but it was odd. I'll have to get more details but it was a bug.
