I was intrigued by this NPC named M.E.G. and was curious as to what this acronym stood for. So I went to explore and have a chat with him / her / it (turns out it is "him"). This is in the non-raid regular version of the zone of MMM (Meldrath's Majestic Mansion).

M.E.G. is located roughly at in-game /loc +835, +280, +78. This location is of me standing behind his face-plate sticking out of the wall. I was able to stand there, between the faceplate and the wall, and drop invisibility and hail him without aggro. (Using level 80 druid to run around and scout in the zone.)

[Tue Feb 10 23:24:49 2009] Your Location is 835.87, 279.46, 78.55

M.E.G. is indifferent to me after dropping invisibility. I have fought in the zone before, but never fought in the raid instances. I do not have sneak ability, so this faction is correct. So most likely he is on some independent faction.

[Tue Feb 10 23:21:14 2009] You return to view.
[Tue Feb 10 23:21:15 2009] M.E.G. regards you indifferently -- looks like quite a gamble.

He conned white (even) to me at level 80, so indeed he is level 80.

Targetting him with mouse-left-click indicates that the gender is male:

[Tue Feb 10 23:22:00 2009] Targeted (NPC): M.E.G.
[Tue Feb 10 23:22:00 2009] Right click on the NPC to consider him.

Hailing him returns a simple response.

[Tue Feb 10 23:20:06 2009] You say, 'Hail, M.E.G.'
[Tue Feb 10 23:20:06 2009] M.E.G. says 'Greetings. I am Mechamagical Exoframe Ghost.'

I tried giving him various things like iron rations and the like, and he just politely refused them with the standard "I don't need this".

[Tue Feb 10 23:21:36 2009] M.E.G. says 'I have no need for this _[playername]_, you can have it back.'

I asked him various questions, like "who is Meldrath?" , "what is your function?", "who is Brinda?", but never got any response from him at all, except from the simple hail.

I tried casting a nuke on him, and also tried auto-attack with a 1HB weapon equipped, but neither of these worked.

[Tue Feb 10 23:21:18 2009] Your spell did not take hold.

While I was standing around, M.E.G. periodically said things in white text (same colour as regular /say responses from NPCs) without prompting. There were some other people in the zone doing the "Explore the Mansion" task at the time, but I do not know if it was related to his emotes. Each random /say came roughly 3 minutes and 58 seconds apart, as shown in the log time stamps.

I stayed for a while and witnessed at least two rounds of this text. These 8 lines repeated in this same order in the next cycle, with 3 minutes 58 seconds or 3 minutes 59 seconds between each line. I start listing these at what sounds like the first logical line in the series.

[Tue Feb 10 23:41:18 2009] M.E.G. says 'A reminder to personnel on board: the steamworks are here for your protection. Your cooperation in all matters is greatly appreciated.'

[Tue Feb 10 23:45:16 2009] M.E.G. says 'As a rule, steamworks will not harm personnel. They will follow instructions unless such instructions violate the previous rule. They will avoid situations that can result in harm to themselves unless such situations conflict with the previous two rules. Thank you.'

[Tue Feb 10 23:49:14 2009] M.E.G. says 'Attention. Steamwork models suffix MX are due for a scheduled maintenance. Check all steamwork models suffix MX into the workshop for maintenance at your earliest convenience.'

[Tue Feb 10 23:53:13 2009] M.E.G. says 'Scanning Mechanotus for situational anomalies . . . Propulsion: no errors detected. Airflow: no errors detected. Ambient temperature: no errors detected. System temperature: WARNING! Heat stress detected in operations lab. Recommend closing vents AB through AF to reduce steam influx.'

[Tue Feb 10 23:57:10 2009] M.E.G. says 'Mechanotus diagnostics indicate a disturbance in central tunnels, sector 180.'

[Wed Feb 11 00:01:08 2009] M.E.G. says 'Pattern match based on current data suggests brownie workers are responsible. Recommend security dispatch a steamwork trooper squad to isolate and suppress the disturbance.'

[Wed Feb 11 00:05:06 2009] M.E.G. says 'Mana battery self-test complete. Primary battery is operating at full capacity. Secondary battery is operating at near full capacity. WARNING! Tertiary battery has been depleted. Device failure is the most probable cause.'

[Wed Feb 11 00:09:04 2009] M.E.G. says 'Request lead crew chief 'Doctor' Brinda Sprockets or nearest available subordinate unscramble password matrix and initiate battery replacement sequence, immediately. WARNING! Failure to adhere to replacement sequence protocol will result in lockdown.'

After listening to this for a bit I left. Should I ever return and manage to extract some text out of him, I will likely be back and post here.

Never thought I'd see a Tron reference in Everquest.

M.E.G. appears to be the central computer core for the mansion. While hunting this room, she would often sputter commands and comments directed at the inhabitants of the mansion. Pretty cool room...
