cleared about 5 times. Was on the smaller ship at the top dropped the type 7 shield.
I've camped this mob for hours, days, and weeks for the shield. And I've only seen charms so far.
In any case, I've confirmed that any fire elemental mob on either of the two ships which have them can be placeholders. I've seen him spawn on both ships and everytime someplace completely different.
You're better off camping bazaar if you have the money. This is one of the most inspiration-killing camps I've ever done, with in mind I'm looking for something in particular.
In the last twenty hours of clearing I've seen him spawn twice. And the shield is his rare. This is rather un-fun.

I don't find this to be true. I've spent all of level 88 and 89 moloing on these ships. In my experience this mob has 3 spawn spots. One on the big ship and two on the half sunken one.
1) On the big ship. go to the lower tiered deck where two elementals spawn. Go into the room behind them. go to the room to the right. The next room has 3 elementals. One is directly in front of the doorway. And there are two at the back of the room. Of the two in the back of the room, the one that will be on your left when you enter the room and face them is the PH.
2) on the half sunken ship the mob can spawn on the top tier. It is one of those two spawns. and on the bottom tier, where two spawns and a roamer pop near the ramps to going up to the higher smaller decks. I pulled them from the big ship, so I'm not sure which ones left or right.
This is the version of the shield which also has a Type 3 augment slot. Dropped tonight.

There are two wrecks with these mobs. By "north section" do you mean the northern piece of the wreck? Or are you referring to a northern part of the larger piece of the wreck which is labeled "Ship of the Damned" on maps? That part of the wreck lies in a west-east configuration so "north section" doesn't make any sense in that context.
I'm guessing you meant the northern section of the wreck, the second smaller piece lying north of the other one, but I've cleared it 6x now with no evidence of this named spawning.
So I inquire. ;)

So I answer my own inquiry!
Yeah, he spawns on the northern chunk of the wreck up on the top platform, as Derb stated. I found him in the rightmost spawn spot.
He's a bit of a wuss. Didn't seem any harder than the trash, despite his purported level. Didn't seem capable of summoning. When my casters got aggro he ran to them rather than summoning them to him. He can't be snared or rooted, though.
Dropped the shield. Thank God! Blood Defender was nice in its time but my mage was sick of looking at it. Shield has very nice graphic.

He repopped on the lower section. So at least 2 spawn spots are PHers. Dropped Wisp of Flame this time.
