Batfang headband?
# Aug 16 2006 at 7:21 PM Rating: Decent
Do the ogre shamans and shamanesses also drop the Batfang Headband or do only Chief Goonda and Oowomp drop that?

For those of you who haven't camped here before, Chief Goonda, An Ogre Shaman and An Ogre Shamaness all spawn around the center circle.
Nerfed loot??

Has this guy's drop been nerfed as the other shammys that drop the same loot have?
undercon?
# Mar 01 2003 at 10:01 PM Rating: Decent
are these "dudes" undercons? their gear seems too good for mobs their lvl. Maybe this question has already been answered but im one lazy person so.... are they undercons?

I don't think they are undercons, but they aren't exactly chumps, either. I cleared the camp pretty easily with 33 ranger, but I did it cheesy. Lured Chief Goonda and pet to guard tower then harmonied and pulled guards one at a time then pulled shaman. Someone else must have gotten shameness while I was off pulling Goonda to guards because she was gone by the time I got back. I waited for camp to repop so I could do it again, but Chief Goonda was first to pop and rooted me and I died. I said the heck with that after CR and just went after Choon. He was a lot easier. :)

Ok this is how I *believe* that the factions work. All of the ogres EXCEPT FOR GOONDA are on a faction that everybody starts out amiable to. Goonda, I believe, is on Ogre Shaman faction. All of the other ogres will assist Goonda if he aggros on you, hence the confusion caused by the faction cons.

Killing one of non-goonda ogres gives you a faction hit with "Rallos Zek", sort of how killing the bandits in GFay gives you a hit with "Bristlebane". Killing Goonda gives you a faction hit with the ogre shaman guild (Shaman Of War or something) as well as a few others that escape me for the moment.

I'm going to head over there and try to get a CBB in about 5 minutes, so I'll see if that's what makes sense.

As a human paladin, I was suprised to find the ogres of West Karana amiable to me. The only one I saw who didn't like me was Chief Goonda, who conned threatening. I'm just surprised the guards and shamans seemed so friendly.

Can a full group of mid-levels 20s take this camp for a sustained period?

Thanks
RE: Groups
# Apr 18 2002 at 12:54 PM Rating: Decent
Yes. If you can break the camp you can hold it. Up to 7 MoBs at once for a full camp, but the respawn time is nicely spread out. Becareful though of wandering HG's and Froon and Choon (blue to me at 40). They will walk over the hill occasionally just to see what the ogres are doing. )

ogre shamans also drop batskull earrings that go for about 500pp a piece. If you can handle Goonda at 35 this is a good place for plat.
Good Money??
# Sep 01 2001 at 3:25 PM Rating: Decent
Im DESPERATLY in need of money and AC. I am a barbarian shaman at lv 35 and i only have 550ish AC. This is DESASTERIOUS because everything black and blue can hit for its max EVERY time. Well anyway, is this good money? sell lewt in Gfay and EC and such, come back for more....
another question, how long would it take me to make 1k? im saving for a range slot harpoon and some better AC/wis gear. If u r selling on Tribunal, send a tell to me, kalamm, if i am on with school and all......

Hey, to the guy that posted this initial message; I hear your frustration. This game can be difficult starting out. I think you'll find some good advice in the responses below. Unfortunately you'll also find a lot of attitude, both here and in the game. IMO, play the game however you like so long as you're showing true gamemanship and helping others. If you enjoy farming, do it (just don't take a camp that others need for xp). And if you like questing, do it - personally I believe you'll enjoy your stuff more when you get it yourself.
But for the guys that are lacing their responses to your question with sacasm... grow up and remember that you were a newbie once also. A far better way to demonstrate your "vast experience" is to be helpful to your fellow players rather than critical.
#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 01 2001 at 6:43 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Uhhhhhhhh, why don't you just get in a giant group or just go solo them...or hell just go to Velious and kill stuff that drops $$$ items? A level 35 shaman should not be hanging around a dorky ogre camp looting for some items to farm. Just work for something once in a while and *gasp* maybe you will actually get enough money to buy some better armor since Velious is an expansion targeted at your level range and stuff...And considering giants drop 20-40p average I think split wouldn't burn too big of a hole in your pocket.
RE: Good Money??
# Jan 29 2002 at 3:27 PM Rating: Default
ahhh velious is a great idea, if he was better equiped. Like he said he should have better stuff before trying that I should think. And as for getting into a giant group, I don't know what all the other servers are like. But on mine the giants are usually being camped by a ton of 50+ characters. And these ogres will probably still give him exp at 35.
#Anonymous, Posted: Sep 18 2001 at 10:14 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Hilarious, I love people who farm to sell. Oooh, Ooooh, how long will this take, can I take this mob at my lvl? Hey, you do know this is a game based on quests, and not the stock market right? You do know that you dont have to spend the first 6 months of this game begging for things, selling them when you get them for other things, begging for more, and selling, and then buying and selling because of your base of begged items, right?
RE: Good Money??
# Sep 27 2002 at 1:27 AM Rating: Decent
If you wanta safe place to make money, go camp the woater goblins outside of the BB docks. You wont become a millionaire fast, but if you put in 3 or fours you can get 300-400pp. is better than nothing.

I cant wear half the crap in the game that is good because I am large.
So all I can say is BAH DAMN you little bastages...

Ogres are getting the shaft... (hehe)

real way to get them
# Jul 27 2001 at 9:45 AM Rating: Default
I say just go up to casting range a cast a nice warm rain AoE spell on them and run and hope you killed a few of them. after the fast run (which would be better with SOW) to the zone or guards go back and slowly kite them down till you die or you take to much time and they respawn in full. this should be a nice way to solo the camp. Also if you dont want to do that just get a full group and pound the camp till you die or lose your group

Can they SOW or Move Fast in some way?
# Apr 13 2001 at 12:36 AM Rating: Default
Ok i came up with an interesting strategy for taking a camp as Necro, though first test failed hehe. The basic idea is to get off a strong DOT then FD before any of camp gets close enough to damage you (this works very poorly on casters as they can start casting and then finish when u layin on ground FD and thus see right through it). Then when the DOT wears off u get up, recast and FD yet again hehe. I have not done sufficient field testing to know if it's gonna work (first was a disaster with Shadow men since the damn things move so friggin fast they were at me b4 i knew it). Anyway in theory if the camp consists of mainly WAR types who move at a slow rate this should prove most effective. Any thoughts or testing of this strategy is appreciated plz tell me the results. Thanks)

The guys that drop the Earrings are Shaman classed, meaning they have SoW and spells. The others in this area are SKs, I know since I was HTed by one once, forgot the dmg, remembering 500 though. may be confusing with Kithikor though.
RE: Can they SOW or Move Fast in some way?
# Jul 10 2001 at 3:40 AM Rating: Decent
I am only level 12 but this sounds like a good idea. I think I good spell to cast would be something akin to Engulfing Darkness. Its a DOT that also gives 40% movement reduction in target. That 40% may be just enough time to cast FD and pull it off
RE: Can they SOW or Move Fast in some way?
# Apr 24 2001 at 6:24 AM Rating: Good
Good strat for melee mobs, but these guys are all casters. And I too have been MOWED down by a solitary blue shadowed man. Those buggers move faster SNARED than most mobs do normally lol. In answer to the question in the subject, Yes - the shamans occasionally sow others in the camp :( On the good side, as casters, they don't have much hp (Exception: goonda. Haven't tried him yet, but i've read hes got quite a bit)
