I've killed about 20 giant fire beetles and have seen nothing but legs. A carapace would be nice.
Look at them legs

can anyone CONFIRM these are the LEGS i need for the BUGPART collection QUEST in Misty thicket? GIANT FIREBEATLE LEGS is one of the 6 components. Please let me know... and what do they sell for now? about 6 gold? and I assume the legs are Dropable if sold to merchants. At the bridge might som ebe for sale. I am looking for the easy way to get these. My al is only lvl 7.

Loot Change

A while back these beetles gave only regular fire beetle eyes and legs, now they loot a giant kind which sell for 10 times as much, around 2gp for eyes, and a little less for legs. Now they give decent loot and I won't come out of the karanas broke.
A Maritime Analogy

I like to think of these things as the right whales of Western Karana, at least for levels 6-9. They move slowly (a great boon for casters and archers -- rangers, try Snare and some bowshots to soften 'em up before melee; you could actually kill one using archery alone if you were willing to waste the arrows); they don't hit for a lot of damage, relatively speaking; they're not poisonous; and they drop light, small loot worth 1-3 gold. They don't even gang up on you very often, mostly because it's rare to see two together. A boon for those who want to level safely and make some money in the meanwhile. The only downside is that they can be tricky to find; tracking definitely helps.

Im a 12lvl bard, and these are green BUT they do still often give exp. At 11 some were still blue.
The Loot

Normally the loot consists of regular fire beetel eyes and fire beetle legs. Never seen anything else.
