Just head to South Karana and follow the shore to the left from that bridge that goes to NK. When you get to the raider camp, kill them all and keep killing them for the Bandit Sashes. They spawn fairly quick, and about 70 Sashes will get you from indiff to ally. You turn them in to the guy outside the pally guild standing next to the merchant (Qeynos pally guild) not bad cash too...you get a bronze weapon for each one. i made about 200 plat getting myself to ally.
There is no need to kill the Koalindl Fish. Just go to Surefall Glade, get the Flask of Nitrates. Run over to the Ak'Anon zoo, lower level, and give the little gnome the Flask of Nitrates, and get the regurgatonic. Run over to West Karanas to Frostbite, and give him the regurgatonic, and he spits up the Koalindl Fish.
That takes too long to do for a pally who can neither port or sow him / herself. Best thing is to create a "mule" SK that starts in Qeynos and have that toon kill the fish. Then log on your pally and loot the fish. Even more ideal would be to have a friend create the mule so that you can just sit there and loot the fish after he or she commits suicide killing it for you...lol None of the work and all of the rewards...but hey, that's what friends DO :) Dilai Nicekitty Level 37 Paladin Iron Knights Zebuxoruk Server
I found this to be the quickest way to build faction with PoL. In order to make the fish quest work, you will need to already be Amiable to PoL or you'll just get a message saying that "only a follower of Life can be trusted with this quest" or some such. I got up to Amiable with coins (made them all back in reward money), then got up to Ally with fish. It only takes about an hour and around 8 - 10 fish. REAL quick. :-) Looking forward to my first burning sword. LOL

Get about 200-250gp and turn it into Lashun. This should get you to Amiable Faction with PreistsofLife. Find a friend who can invis himself and/or who doesn't visit Qeynos very often and have them kill the Koalindl Fish who spawn in the pool beneath the 'flying saucer' (Or find a shadowknight, when you kill the fish it is positive shadowknight faction. The person who killed the fish for me was chaining part of the sk epic and needed better faction to do it). They pop every 3 minutes and about 1:2 or 1:3 have the 'corpse' on them. They are lore, so after each one you get turn it into the person who is swimming in the water w/ full plate. This gives you a LARGE faction boost. In about 4 fish i got to kindly faction, and another 2 got me to warmly. This is by far the easiest way to do it.
Its quite easy, Just go to the Temple of Life in Qeynos and convert like 150pp into Gold, and give it to the wandering Pally at 2gp at a time, takes a while (several hours in fact) but it got me from Dubious (im a High Elf Pally) to Amiably in about 5 hours, lol.
Well it all depends on how you play the game. For instance I am a high elf who wants to get his natures defender. I dont wanna pay for the firey avenger. I want to do this quest for one reason. I LIKE SWORDS THAT SPROUT FIRE. Lacton goodspirit Zeberox
If you are a Paladin you need to have good faction with Priests of Marr and Knights of Truth. The reason for this is because Brother Hayle is the one you get your Soulfire from and I found out the hard way that if your faction isn't at least warmly (mine was indifferent) then he won't give you the sword when you give him your 3 items that you worked so hard for. To raise faction with him kill Guard Reskin (EC), Guard Brendyl (Nro), Guard Tolus (EC) and Olunea Miltin (EFP) I wouldn't recommend killing any of the guards in EFP unless you have at least (AT LEAST) one full group of lvl 35+. My guild did it with 2 groups and still had a tough time. You can also raise faction by killing orcs and dervs. Hope this has been helpful. For those that are worried about faction...trust me..the Koalindi fish are the FASTEST way to go...believe me...I just did my soulfire quest. Just find someone that is already KOS or doesn't give a rip...have them kill the fish away from the NPC swimming in the water...you sit around...loot the Koalindi corpse...give it to him and bam..instant HUGE faction uplift...don't bother with the bone chip crap or the 2gp crap...this is the fastest way to do it..
I also tried the 2gp crap and spent 45 minutes handin it in...quite a strain on yer eyes, btw.
Do the fish, man...do the fish.

how the hell do you get to this guy, i got camo from a nice druid and ran around the whole place tryin to find a way in. the door is locked or something. do you need a key? is there an alternat rout? or do you need someone good at picking locks? plz help
GET your faction up to warmly with Life, I did the quest without doing so, and didn't get the soulfire. Was pissed, to say the least. That was months ago, though, so that's behind me. Anyways, I did the bonechip quest, about 1000 times. Get a few backpacks full of stacks. Buy em up cheap in the nek woods newby area, or in FoB or something. A little platinum goes a long way for newbies. I also did the Bandit sash quests allot, camping that area between the two bridges in North Karana. The bones go to a paladin in the temple of thunder, named Wolfen something-or-other (spelling?), and the sashes go to the guildleader near the Shield Salesman, also in the Temple of Thunder. Make sure you visit the temple of life to check warmly faction, and upon turning in the items, turn in YOUR testament first, because that's the easiest of the 4 quest components to get. A month later, after I took these precautions, I recieved the soulfire.
Thanks for the advice. Like you, I just found out tonight the hard way and lost all my items for the Soulfire by turning them to Brother Hayle when my faction wasn't warmly. Apparently, indifferent isn't good enough...lol. Hopefully it won't take long to rebuild my faction...how long did it take you? Dilai Nicekitty Level 37 Paladin Iron Knights Zebuxoruk Server
if you turn in the fish to the paladin that is swimming in the water you get a huge faction uplift. i made an alt Shadow Knight and killed them and later brought in my paladin and looted the fish. this procedure made me amiable to warm in about 5 fish. to do this you MUST be amiable with the paladin!
I, for one, picked up a key, marked "T.O.L. 2020". Unfortunately, I was too busy planning my escape from the cell, and I didn't hear what he said when he gave it to me. <shrug>
Quest in north karana with wearwolf hunters increases 4 factions (temple of life among them). For each bar of silver you give the gnome you get a faction boost (no negatives).
Hello. I want to know the bottom line. What is the best way to increase your faction to warmly with Brother Hayle? I hope to hear from someone who has ACTUALLY done the Soulfire quest.
Go to the Temple of Life in Qeynos. Halfway up the ramp there should be an NPC (though he sometimes wonders the zone), you give him 2gp at a time and you get exp faction adjustment. I have actually done the SF quest and this is the absolute fastest way to increase your faction.
Actually I have just recently finished the Soulfire quest and the fastest way by far to get faction up to warmly was by getting some friend to kill the Koalindl fish, only took 5 fish to hand into the paladin Enric something and I got from amiable to warmly, whereas I spent well over 30 minutes giving 2gp to that Novashine guy and got 0 noticeable faction change. Get a friend to make a temp char, one that starts in qeynos, buff him up a bit and let him kill the fish for you. ONE IMPORTANT THING....don't actually help the guy or kill the fish yourself during battle...HUGE faction hit against temple of life if you do.
Actually, if you get the Regurgatonic from Ak'Anon and give it to Frostbite (or whatever dog it is that ate the Koalindl Fish) he'll couch it up and it won't cost any faction at all.
That's true, and it's the only "true" way of getting the fish. I'm sure I will do the mule thing, only because faction is the worst part about questing.
I say only "true" because the mule-killing-fish way is almost cheating...but, like I said...I'll probably do it as well.
The problem with the tonic is: It takes a while to get the tonic, then you have to travel back to Frostbite, and you only get one fish. It takes anywhere from 5-20 fishes (depending on starting faction) to get to the faction level you need.
I would have to agree that making a mule would be easier in this case. Much faster than running your pally from zone to zone. I did the regurgitonic quest constantly with my druid in order to do the Stein of Moggok quest but as we all know, druids can port so the fish part isn't really that hard. Pally's however would benefit more from having a friend make a mule SK who can just commit suicide basically and let you loot the fish over and over again.
kill bandits in in w.karanas its a very fast spawn usually 6 bandits per spawn however you want to stagger it. then turn in the red sashes to Chesguard somebody hehe at the entrace to the house of thunder(pally guild) in Qeynos. you get awesome faction and he also gives you bronze weapons back to sell or whatever.... i have given him 28 sashes so far and went from indiffernt to kindly one more trip to bandits and im hoping to get warmly...my question is why the heck is the temple of life indiff anyway to a paladin?something to think about
that is a very quick way, but in regards to your indif, my friend is a high elf pally and started at dubious, that is really messed up. that and my being dubious as a cleric of tunare to the rangers and druids of tunare in surefall, that is another messed up thing
I gave him appr 40 sashes and went from indifferent to warmly.took 3 trips to first bandit camp in WK picked up 30 to 40 pp per trip with bronze loot and rewards.
Get faction by doing the quests in Qeynos at the temple. Its the one near the lake. Has a "Flying Saucer" above the lake. I would give bone chips and 2gp at a time to Lashun until you are at least Indifferent to everyone standing around the water. Next do the Blessed Oil Quest. Details on Allakhazams. The priest who gives you the oil is one of the 3 on the right if you are facing the pool from the entranceway. He will ask you if you will take the oil to Brother Estle (located right on the road in WK when zoning from QHills). Once you give him the oil you will get faction. You may also get the prayer bead quest. This ultimatly leads back to Brother Hayle. I kept doing the bonechips, and the Blessed oil quest until i got good enough faction to get my Band of Rodcet nife. Im sure you Pally's out there could still use this strategy to gain enough faction for Soulfire. If so, come group with me on Erollisi Marr heh.
Also you can kill Skeletons at the ruins in SK near the stone bridge. I think its only the tougher ones that give u faction. Also beware the increased spawn rate of Lord Grimrot.
#Anonymous,
Posted:Sep 24 2000 at 10:44 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I have warm faction with priests of life, and when I visit brother hayle in split paw and con him, he cons indifferent to me.. what am I doing wrong
Brother Hayle is part of the PriestsofLife from Qeynos, you need warmly faction to retrieve SoulFire. My friend tried it with only amiably faction and got a "thank you".
You could probably get better faction with him by killing WFP/EFP guards, or killing lots of orcs in E.commons. Pretty much anything that raises faction w/ the Knights of Truth
Yes, Brother Hayle is definately in Infected Paw, he is the fine person who gives out the Awesome Weapon Soulfire. I know he gave me one. What a fine gentleman he is.
