I saw a necro and a druid solo it. I forgot their levels, but the druid was like 54 (was not higher than 55 or else he would have had his pet probably) and the necro was 55 or something. druid snared and necro feared, sent pet, then casted all their pretty spells. He was dead in about a minute or two.
Tolans Longsword got changed to (worn) haste, so he would have to own a POA cloak to get to 90% haste :P and there aren't too many lvl 55 people running around with Vulak drops, theres a few, but not many ;)
Ok, on topic... If you are an epic packing 55 Ranger (if you have the POA cloak, I would assume that you had your earthcaller for slows) You should be just fine one him, assuming you get a slow proc to go off near the beginning. 56 Ranger (me), 52 Shaman, 51 druid was EXTREME overkill on this ****. As long as you can get him slowed, you should be just fine. He did resist snare semi-often though, so you might want to grab a J-Stick ( 9/24 all/all procs Tash) just to make sure you can keep the snare/slow on him. You also might want to start off the first fight with a /disc Trueshot just to soften him up some. Good luck to anyone that goes out there to solo him, he's a pansy for a lvl 50 giant leezard, but can be very rewarding (we got several BD's in the 4 hours we were out there, along with a ph@t pile of vendor trash).
Purpose? A level 50 melee type mob that can drop planar level gems? EXP/loot is its purpose friend. It can drop, Blue Diamonds, Diamonds, Jacinths, Blackend Sapphires, ruby crowns etc.
I'm sure if you looked you would see this but I will repeat it here. Ali is a timed spawn. 6 minute timer for the dino or its PH, the Goblin Sacrifice. If you see the sacrifice, gank it and in 6 minutes you either get Ali or another sacrifice...rinse and repeat.
If your a bard, and your above 46, you can take him. all you really need is a drum, i'd say have at least MM drums (what i have) Im level 46, I killed him last night, took me about 40 minutes. He rarely resists. Bards suck because........ they cant really solo high level mobs in small areas, bards RULE because they can take ANYTHING down if its open. He dropped a blue dimond too. Woot.
I started hunting this as a 49 druid with a 60 chanter was a peice of cake. Then i started soloing him at 50 not as easy. Now im 51 and i wont try him without KEI.C3 gives me 250 wisdom with no resist gear. This SOB takes me about 20-30 minutes to solo he hits hard and fast i wouldnt recomend soloing with a melee but only you know your limitations he has a LOT of HP i couldnt begin to guess how much since i use DoTs and what roots will stick.he resist about 4out of 5 of my roots xp of him sucks but occasionally he will drop gems and nice cash loots though my last 4 kills yeilded nothing but snake scales
Augustina Sweetleaf 51 druid of tunare Elven Royal Guard vallon zek
Can he be stunned? And if I have all my stun spells memmed and chain stun him do you think a 52 paladin could solo him? I think I would be able to seeing how the dino would be stunned throughout the battle.
I pulled with malosini, sent DS'd earth pet, nuked the crap outta him till pet died, mob was at 40%. I chain'ed a water pet and hit with velocity, then kited the dino around the island till he made his last attempt at life by attacking my pet, which i retured with a 2k+ crit blast that finished him with an ego boost.
The time it happened was a couple patches ago. If you feign or gate after failing to kill Dino, make sure both you and Dino are on land at the time, or you'll be leaving a surprise for the travellers and someone from seafuries or AC camp will have to clean up after you.
First time I've seen him, dunno if it's a static spawn point or not... but he spawned exactly halfway between the tower and the closest point on the shore. I was medding nearby, expecting to see him pop at the tower, when I turned around and he was looming over me.
Camped this lizard for two 2-hour evening sessions with a full, balanced group of level 45-47. Using fear, clinging darkness-type tactics minimized the lizard's damage output, and we could take it down handily. First kill got us a diamond. Out of over 20 subsequent kills, we only got a ruby and a couple pieces of ruby jewelry and a black saphhire. Most of the time we got crap like snake skins. Not a single other diamond. 4 hrs playtime for 2 blu bubs xp. Like Verant teased us or something, giving the diamond on the first try only, heh. With the 6-minute or so repop time, was a total waste of playtime from an experience point and loot standpoint. At levels 45+, peeps would be better off getting steady loot and xp in the process somewhere else, and use the cash to BUY a diamond, which can be had for as little as 300p in EC.
Bottom line, unless you are a low-50's solo kiter who is feeling lucky. Take a pass on this one until Verant ups the gem drops.
I couldn't belive it, I was able to Solo him as a 51 Bard with drums of march. Just used SS boots to stayed lev'd, and every 2 minutes played selo's chorus to keep a step ahead. Then just used the 3 chants, took forever though about 20-25 minutes and there were quite a few resists in the mix. But if you just give him a wide berth and have lots of patience and make sure your fingers are ready for a marathon you shouldn't have a problem as a bard. BTW, dropped only a page for 49 chanter spell allure.

Umm... it's not that tough to knock off 10k hps. As a 49 Shaman you get a nice little spell called E-Bolt. There's another one in there, umm, Togor's Insects? This guy is cake when you send the pet in, land a slow on him, melee, and dot away.
Dino is nowhere near as strong as Vox. I soloed him at 49. He has a reasonable number of hit points, but he doesn't cast, he has low resists, and there's room to kite him. Vox casts an area effect, and heals herself.
Think of Dino as a level 42 mob that only cons level 50.
