This is a prime camp for any soloist from 12-15.

If you don't want to worry about spawn tables and killer NPCs or finding your body in the ocean, stick to the sirens on the two large spires. There are two on the rock, so close that you can see them on the boat from FP. On the other spire you can see 3 aqua goblins.

Jump off the boat and go kill the "twin" sirens. I'm a mage, and my burned out wimpy water pet with a summoned staff of tracing made quick work of them. Once they are dispatched, swim over to the other spire and kill the green & light/dark blue goblins. Each one of them drops a bow and 4 arrows. Fill bags (or summon pockets for mages) with these, as the arrows go for ~6cp each, and the bows for almost 2 gold. Once they are dispatched, you'll see a lone siren on the back part of this spire. Kill her, and swim back. By this time, the twins have re-spawned. Repeat as necessary. By the time you are done, you'll have hundreds of mermaid shells, hundreds of arrows, and several bows for loot, not to mention a couple levels under your belt.

Word to the wise for Mages and possibly Necros - Try to nuke as little as possible. Buff and heal your pet instead. Less downtime, and the Abjuration/Alteration skills that has been neglected can be raised. You can even join in the fight and get your little-used combat skills up.
mob info

i am camping the two spawns on the way from freeport right now (the ones that the boat passes right next to) and here's what i've found out about them:
- on the island with 2 sirens 2 goblins, the sirins are lvl 12, hit for 26 max (no double hit but they are fast), and spawn timer is 6 minutes (+/- 10 secs).
- 3 sirens 4 named NPCs share spawns on a nearby island. two are close together and one is far enough away to pull by itself. these are lvl 13, and hit for 28 max.
- the spawn behavior of mobs on the island with the named NPCs is complicated and irritating. killing one or more of the sirens will trigger the eventual spawning of one or more of Nerbilik, Brawn, and two named Dragoons. they are all 20+ (though according to posts they are weak for their levels) and the dragoons (maybe Brawn and Nerbilik too, i'm not sure) are frenzied with the sirens. within 30 minutes (a very rough estimate) they will all eventually disappear and the sirens will come back. this cycle can be, but is not necessarily triggered by killing a single siren.

i don't know about other classes, but as a necro these things have and will save me hours off what i would spend ******* around in the oasis or in n ro. i kill the two lower lvl ones, and the lone one from the annoying island when the dragoons aren't around. works great.

Indifferent?
# Feb 24 2002 at 4:52 PM Rating: Default
I have been camping these Sirens for 2 days now and today when I hit level 14 I decided to con one to see how she was to me. She was NOT indifferent, but threatening and she hit a lot harder than her twin did previously. After I killed her I decided to con every single one when they spawned. Most were indifferent indeed, but there were 4 more that were threatening and hit harder than the indifferent ones. So folks....these half naked fish women are not ALWAYS indifferent.

No, no - Anonymous is right, Saurion. I thought they were all always indifferent, too, but after I dispatched one, I conned the other - and it was Threatening to me! Found it kind of odd, and I've only seen it the one time, but every once in a while. The next pops were again indifferent.

Beware which rock you hunt on. I hunt the ones on the way out from Butchblock/Faydwer with 2 sirens and 2 gobos. The gobos will attack if you get to close (they'll only be light blue at most to a 14) but the sirens will not and they do not help each other either. I root, nuke them from a platform on a rock across the water. Alternatly the isle with 3 on them, they ARE agressive, will assist, hit ALOT harder and can require magic weapons to hurt. Also at night there are 2 nasty spawn that show up on that rock so you know it's bad business. If you hunt the 3-siren rock you better be strong, fast, have a magic weapon and know harmony or another equivalent spell or have a teleporting capability cause otherwise your gonna have to wait for that boat to go retrieve your body.

Unfortuantly I do not know about the rock from Freeport

Well, I too am just going to add some general information for those that would like to know the approximate time tables of the mobs there. BTW, be warned that if you do go there the experience is simply addicting and you will not want to leave!

There are two locations that you can camp the Sirens, one set is located at the last set of rocks before you zone into Buchterblock. The other set is located on the first rocks when you zone into the Ocean of Tears. If you don’t see the set you are looking for on the rocks then chances are they already being camped (just call a camp check).

First of all I should just get the general common things out of the way so I can talk about the specifics. Sirens start and stay indifferent to everyone. The FP camp will not assist each other and the same can be said for the two front (or “twin”) Sirens on the BB side. The FP and “twin” Sirens are 12th level and will always stay at that level.

Now the FP camp is pretty straightforward. When you see the rocks jump off the boat, swim to an island and kill. There are two on a main rock and one behind another rock nearby. Once you want to get off either gate out (if you are casting class) or swim INTO the front of the boat and the force will “translocate” you into the bottom deck of the boat.

The BB spawn is a bit more complicated but there’s no real need to say it’s harder as long as you understand it. The two Sirens that spawn in front (the ones you see from the boat) are usually called the “twins” and as stated above they are level 12 and will NOT assist each other.

There are three spawns however in the back that are a bit more difficult and also share a spawn table with some evil NPCs. These are level 13 to maybe 14, have more magic resistance, have almost twice the hit points of their sisters, and WILL assist each other in combat. These mainly go by the name of the “triplets” since they do spawn in three.

Now then to the precautions and spawn table/times. As said above these assist each other so unless you have harmony/lull you’ll most likely be pulling two at a time. The only exception is the Siren on the bottom of the rock island, being she’s far enough from her sisters you can single pull her.

As has been stated there is a Troll NPC on the very edge of this island so non distance/spell pullers beware that if you are a good race and get too close this Troll (Nerbilik) will aggro on you.

All the Sirens are approximately on a 6-minute spawn time. If you kill one of the triplet Sirens AFTER 9PM a Dragoon or Orge will spawn in its place! Either Dragoon Artellin at the bottom, Dart in the middle, or Brawn the Orge at the end. These all have medium aggro radiuses, are in their 20’s, and as with most DE are majorly underconned.

So here’s the deal: IF you leave the three Sirens alone after 9PM they will stay there till 3AM and despawn. Brawn has a 50% chance of showing up early at the top around 9PM. At 4AM the dark ones will spawn and stay there till 6AM at which time they will go. At 7AM the Sirens will spawn again and everything will go back to normal.

Keep in mind that if you are pulling the Sirens after 9PM and are a non-range puller you run the risk of having Mr. Orge spawn on you. A good strategy (if you have all three up before 9PM) is to clear from the top to the bottom. This way if the Orge pops you won’t be near it when you are fighting/pulling (though you still run a risk being Brawn does patrol).

Well, that’s pretty much it. I just wanted to give people a heads up so that those that haven’t been there will have an understanding of how the spawn time/table works (then you can break and plan to your hearts delight). I hunted the BB and FP side at 15 and spent about 16 hours at BB and about 4 in FP.

These Sirens are very easy considering. With a Druid I almost always rooted, and snared. Then, depending on my mana and level I either nuked, or DoTed. Eventually I found the easiest way to keep all the spawns staggered (including the twins) was to harmony if necessary, root, snare, DoT and then sit back and med till root broke.

Once they got close enough (bar would update dmg done) I would stand and either damage shield melee, DoT melee (tripplets), or just plain melee (twins). This was an efficient use of mana and I always had just enough to keep clearing almost continuously. Very addicting exp indeed! I hope this helps someone in their hunting, as I know others have helped me.

Best XP from 12-16
# Jan 19 2002 at 11:08 AM Rating: Decent
Hi, just wanted to add my 2 cp. Normally you always see people ranting on about how easy some mobs are etc.
After trying the 3 mermaids on the 2 tall rocks, that also have 3 water goblins on them, I must say GO THERE. Yesterday I went with my lvl 12 magician and soloed them without problems. I stayed there for about 9 hours and during the 15th lvl, when I was on a roll, I could get a yellow buble of XP on four respawn-rounds (12 mermaids). And the good thing about them: no faction, they will always be indifferent to you and they don't gang up on you.
Dont bother with the 3 goblins, they will give you nothing but downtime.
In short: 9 hours of play, 4 full levels (one bub into 16), 35pp in gold and silver.
Oh, and by the way, I was not twinked or anything, actually I have quite crappy equipment :(

Have fun

OK, here's the deal, since no one has posted on this subject for a while, and I just went there last night. This is with a 13th level Troll SK.

I chose to try the Sirens that you see when you zone from Butcherblock to OOT. The map provided at the Ugoyin/Geocities link will help you get your bearings a bit, but there is a problem, at least for a class without Snare. I found that what happened is that if I couldn't kill the single Siren quickly enough, she ran off and came back with her two sisters. And that's a long CR from Grobb . . .

So, if you go, remember to pull the single Siren as far to the back of the neighboring island as you can. Or, be ready to go after her into the water. I've never fought much in the water, so it wasn't pleasant. A light-blue Aqua Goblin gave me similar problems -- it ran, and I couldn't kill it fast enough. Those suckers swim fast, but at least the others didn't aggro.

Haven't tried to get back on the boat yet. Will probably just swim to Aviak Island for my next hunting trip.

Wow! these chicks are easy. I brought my level 10 enchanter and made it to 12 in about 3 hours. make sure you bring a magic weapon (I had a crystal grinder...hehe I'm NOT twinked...traded a stein of moggok for it) All I did was mez, tashan, chaotic feedback, meele with pet a bit, back off, then chaotic feedback again, then they died. At 12 use choke and chaotic feedback and pet. They die super fast at lev 12, and give great exp. Have fun!
Pretty easy

The double spawns are simpler than I thought! When I was a level 12 Cleric, I asked someone to escort me to the double spawn and back me up if something bad happened. Knwoing that clerics arent reknowned for their melee skills, I was expecting bad results... But they're deceptively easy! I went from 12 to 14 in two days, and I recommend the double spawn for levels 11+
Which island(s) are for single spawn?
# Nov 20 2001 at 3:25 PM Rating: Default
I'm slightly confused. When coming from FP, do you hunt the single spawn on the rocky spires after the Cyclops island? Or do you wait until the rocks where Nerbilik spawns?

There ARE sharks in the Ocean of Tears, the reef sharks are used for a Paladin Quest in North Freeport at the hall of truth (a load of shark skins combined gives you a sharkskin shield, which is pants). Anyway, they're pretty easy to kill so don't pose a huge problem.

Man these chicks are the best XP in the whole game for a lvl 12+. Nothing outbeats these guys. There is one Major problem, if you happen to die its a ***** to get your body back. But sice these broads only hit fer a max of 24 and usually hit for 10 or under there exeptionally easy. My Advice: CAMP THESE CHICKS AS SOON AS YOU HIT 12

I have camped these babies before from lvl 13-18 on 2 differant chars. at lvl 13 they still give you the blue bubble per kill, and from 14 up to 16 they still give you 1/2 blue bubble per kill. However... i just turned level 16 with my shaman, the 3rd char to camp them starting at 13. They still gave me 1 blue per kill until 14, and 1/2 blue per kill until 16, however now at 16, however, they used to give me 1/2 a blue until lvl 18, they dont do this anymore. I have to kill 3 sirens to get 1 blue now. granted, still good exp, but its down from what it used to be. it was still worth the exp from 13-16, but i dunno if ill hand around until lvl 18 again.
RE: Nerfed.
# Jul 23 2001 at 3:54 PM Rating: Default
Your exp with 3 different characters could be different if they are not the same race or class. Some races, like trolls due to regeneration, take an experience hit and wont get the same exp as another race. I dont know exactly what you are playing since you didnt post what race/class each character was. Anyway, this could be the reason for you getting different experience.

yep, that explains it, thanks. the first 2 chars were gnome wiz and dorf warr, third and most recent is my iksar shaman who does lower slower than other races, maybe thats why 45 is taking forever.

Here's where u go to camp sirens
# Jun 09 2001 at 4:22 AM Rating: Default
You have two choices. One results in a short trip there but a long trip back (considering said destination is Freeport). The second almost a 50/50 trip. First is on the way to Butcherblock, you pass by two towering rocks on either side of the boat. Jump off here if you want to camp these sirens. I can't say much about these because I haven't camped this spawn. Your second choice is to wait until you whip around butcherblock and are back in oot headed back to FP. When you start moving, soon enough, you'll notice scattered rocks on the right side of the boat. Jump off here to camp these sirens. These are the ones I camp. One of the islands you have the twins, and another behind the twins you have the triplets + NPC Troll Shaman named Nerblinik, and occasionally Brawn and two Dragoons of the Indigo Brotherhood. The triplets are harder for meelee because of their natural resistance to plain meelee, but should be no problem to casters. The twins shouldn't be that hard. One won't help the other, so you needn't worry about breaking spawns. The triplets, however, do aggro if you get close enough, and the Troll aggros (to me, being a good Human Warrior). However, if you look at the following diagram, you'll see a tactic to take the triplets as a single and a twin.
_____________
/ \_______ ______________
/ x x \ /
| x ______/ / 0
|X / |
\ / /
\____________/ |

(I know the islands are not geographically accurate, but hopefully you should be able to grasp my point) If you stand where the '0' is, you should be able to fire an arrow or cast a spell on the farthest right 'x' (siren) and pull it around to safely fight it so the other two sirens don't aggro on you. The other two 'x'es, however, I have not been able to (as a meelee class mind you) to take as two singles, so you have to take em as one twin. Just Swim up onto the rock and cast a spell or whatever on one of them and pull them off the same way you came back on, make sure the Troll (large 'X') doesn't see you. It will mean insta-death at level 14-18. Occasionally, three members of the Indigo Brotherhood spawn in place of the sirens. Be extremly careful. If you even stand on the '0' on above map, the closest Dragoon (Artelin I think) will aggro on you and cast some pretty nast spells on you. Trust me, my friend and I have been raped by them many a time.

The sirens on the Twin Rocks do not help each other, and are indifferent to everyone. My enchanter camped them at 11 and 12, and got good exp. He did need the help of a pet, as they do hit hard, and will interupt spell casting.

Best strategy for an enchanter: Using a pet, cast mesmorize, tashan, enfeeble, then your dot. You and your pet should take turns tanking, and use your dd when the siren is down to half hp. Don't use fear; if it runs to the aqua goblins, they will help out the siren.

OK THE SIRENS U SEE ON THE WAY TO FP ARE EVIL! The double spawn isnt, but the 3 sirens on the island next to them are all MAGICAL! u need a magic weapon to kill them. They are hard to kill but give extra loot and xp. VERY GOOD if u have a magic weapon, shield/boots or spells. I learned they were magical the hard way...LOADING PLEASE WAIT...
