This guy is tuff!! If your a rogue don't listen to these oth
# Jun 14 2001 at 11:38 AM Rating: Default
Ok this guy is tuff, whenever I get attacked by him I have to run for the zone or docks, and I'm lvl 21! I'm saying this so that the rogues are warned, while all these other bone heads are bragging about how easy they are b/c they're casters and have pets and all these tanks saying they are so easy, rogues will need to run from them up to about lvl 24+. I want to help the confussed rogues out there that arn't tanks or casters b/c they need help too. so if your a rogue, don't attack it. Rogues maybe the best meale damage dealers in the game, but that dosen't mean they can solo one of these things. (a matter of fact, rogues shouldn't solo at all) Know I'm not sure about a Barbarian Rogue, he might be able to solo it with a little difficulty but if u ask me, Barbarians don't have a right to be called "rogues" anyway.

Good luck fellow rogues!

(Incase you failed to notice...yes I have been killed by these things many times. That nuke of theirs is really annoying)
Dry Bones or Scale Bones?

Stupid Dry bones and scalebones are so much alike. Nasty suckers that beat the crap out of you with magic.
THE ACTUAL DRYBONES LEVEL MAX IS 25
# Jun 13 2001 at 6:09 AM Rating: Default
This level is wrong. I had a 24 enchanter and i put him on just the other day and i conned a dry bones and it was black. WHo posted this anyway?
Soloing DBS

If you are not a caster, stay away from the dry bones until at least 19th or 20th level. I just love listening to all these casters brag about how easily they solo the DBS's. Remember, undead can and will aggro from a greater distance than normal if you are already fighting an undead. Anyone who says these are easy to solo has never had one of it's friends suddenly join the party.
Just be careful of what's around you and a caster can own these guys.
easy as hell

as the post before i am a 16 mage and think that dbs are the most rewarding thing in oasis. they are great for xp and easy to kill. with my new air pet and 2 bubs of mana i take out the ones that connes yellow to me. and as soon as i see a red one i will send him to the other world as well.
RE: easy as hell
# Jan 26 2001 at 4:05 PM Rating: Default
Yes they may be easy for casters, but what about tanks? I am a lvl 17 pally, and I am going to Oasis as soon as I get a port, but I want to know how tough they are for tanks. Does anyone know?

well i have a 18 BSt, and even though my pet kicks serious @$Z even with my kitty by my side and my endure fire, dry bones is still pretty tuff. Somtimes hes easy as hell, but others i end up murdering my pet to run to zone. I guess its just a matter of luck. U get the weak one or the strong one. good luck

They are pretty tough for tanks. I'm a 17 pally and they they still hit pretty hard. But because pallies have the ward undead spell, its a little easier for pallies to kill them. They cast as well so i would suggest you stay away from then unless you have ward undead or a cleric with you.

These things are mean against tanks.. I'm a cleric with expulse and at 17 I still had trouble with the 19th ones.. And even 18's and occasionally 17's could give me a run for my money.

I would say that it might be possible for a paladin, although I would say probably only hunt if they con black/white or blue.. Only reason I got away with it as a cleric reliably was because I kept rooting, fearing and expulsing..

One great thing about these things though is they're cowards, they're bigger chickens than ghouls in my experience.. By standing my ground I've actually won losing battles against these things because they turn tail whenever they get down to like 25% health.

At L17 I solo these things at every oppertunity. Just pull him with a spell, sic my pet on him, and stand back out of his range and Nuke 3 or 4 times for 92 damage each. Watch him melt down, usually take no damage, just have to med a bit while my pet heals
soloing DBS

I can solo white DBS as a 17 wizard 85% of the time, and yellow ones probably over 50%. Their fire spell hurts, but I pump up my fire res and cast Radiation on myself before the fight, and just root-lightning bolt-lightning bolt-lightning bolt-lightning bolt-lightning bolt-dead DBS. They don't appear to have very much magic res. They do hit pretty hard though and I can see how tank classes would have trouble with them.
Easy

The only problem I ever really have with these things is either when they start swarming on me or when one attacks me after a battle... when I'm oom and my HP are down a little bit. Then I get to make that lovely dash for the zone. I'm a level 20 druid and started soloing them successfully about level 17 or so. I DoT, snare and blast until I get them down to about 1/3 health.. then melee them the rest of the way.
Troll vs. DBS
# Sep 08 2000 at 9:10 AM Rating: Decent
Playing my Troll Shadow Knight, hunting solo in South Ro, I run into these often. At level 19 their "spell" can tear me up. Trolls have a disadvantage with their very low fire resistance. The "Spell" is either insta-cast or a ultrafast cast, since I have NEVER been able to interrupt it with slam, and with other casters types I have gotten quite good at waiting for "X begins to cast a spell" SLAM!

I can manage a blue with my pet and a full mana burn, but on an even, it is about a 50% chance that I need to run to the zone.
RE: Troll vs. DBS
# Mar 04 2001 at 10:07 PM Rating: Default
It's instacast.. Don't bother with these as a SK, especially as a troll, they're just not worth it.

Uh it's not a rumor.. I'm a level 17 paly, and I soloed one that was white to me. Sure I had to use my LoH but I soloed it. Geez, they're not THAT hard..

16 ranger here.... Soloed one. tore me up, but hay, I walked away from it, that's all that matters to me.
RE: Soloed

So, try it without LoH. Then tell us how easy it was after you retrieve your corpse.
RE: Soloed
# Nov 07 2000 at 10:18 AM Rating: Default
Bah! Without LH he would simply have to be lvl 19. Besides pally lvl 18 can do them easily using DD undead spell and melee (1v1, of course). Oh, and I don't see why a lvl 16-17 pal has to even go into Oasis solo especially if LH is already used up...
pain
# Aug 08 2000 at 11:28 AM Rating: Decent
These things are all red to a lvl 16 monk. Though these thing i can easily solo. with the aid of one mend i can usually beat them down to a bloody pulp (that is assuming they have blood, heh) wothout loosing too much health. Their stupid spell, the fire thing is a pain to work with, and its hard as heck to interupt them. Other than the spells, they cant hit for beans. Well, they cant hit ME for beans...
when you're a tank...
# Jul 23 2000 at 2:51 PM Rating: Decent
i can solo one of these as a 21 monk (as long as mend won't fail).. tanks beware these guys are tough...
they are a dream to clerics and necros though
killing spells

I havent tried this but I would think druids cans solo them with their lvl 14 or 19 spells that do a lot of dmg to undead things. Ill have to try it out, I never bought the undead spells.

I can solo yellow DBS at lvl 17. Just expulse, melee, expulse, melee, expulse, melee, you get the idea. I hang out by the derv camp in S Ro and pull to there. Just make sure no ghouls or other skellies are in the area and yoou will be fine. Usually drop a few gold for loot. Not much loot but good exp.
Hmm
# Jun 26 2000 at 10:18 AM Rating: Decent
I'm an 18 Paladin and soloing these easily with very little health loss.

Spook, whack whack whack. Spook, whack whack whack. Rinse. Repeat.

Of course, my Ghoulbane might have something to do with it...
lv. 14 soloers?
# Jun 20 2000 at 10:43 PM Rating: Decent
Well, Having fought some myself, I just root and nuked. nothing to it! And I DID, in fact, solo one recently.
Pallies and DBSs
# Jun 06 2000 at 3:01 PM Rating: Decent
My experience just last evening:
The problem with DBSs solo for me (Level 18 Pally, equipped with mostly Bronze armor, a 1H Silvery War Axe, and a Crested Mistmoor) was, first, the little beggars hit quickly, if not inordinately hard, making Warding them difficult. Second, while you can "Spook and Nuke", even striking them from behind results in lower than typical damage from physical strikes. With a full load of mana and, what I thought, was a reasonable ratio of hits to misses, I still wound up having to LoH 2 of the 6 times the DBSs and I went around. Obviously, they were not the ONLY thing I was fighting, but I felt the cautionary note was in order.
Sometimes Bronze in RM
# Jun 02 2000 at 5:42 PM Rating: Decent
I've fought the DB skellies in the Rathe mountains once & pulled a small bronze cloak from one. Never seen bronze armor on the ones in Unrest, but I don't go to Unrest often.
Necro Solo
# May 07 2000 at 8:02 PM Rating: Decent
If you are a necro level 16 or higher, there is an easy, mana efficient way to beat these down:
Engulfing Darkness (60 mana)
Spook the Dead (10! mana)
Pet beats on it.
Refresh Spook every ten seconds or so to make sure it doesn't wear off (it WILL be resisted some of the time)
Refresh Darkness as necessary.
Stay a little bit away so it can't jump you immediately if it does break Spook.
Oh, and of course, make sure you know which way Spook sends it, because you don't want to run into another one :)
Dry bone skeleton
# May 03 2000 at 10:30 AM Rating: Decent
Iguess I have never run across some of the same Dry bone skels. ya'll have because I am lvl 20 Ranger with skills maxed dual wielding silvery axe & pgt, good armor & they are TOUGH. I have fought many & only now at lvl 20 I can barely solo them. They are a pain in the butt. Loot is not good.
Variations, Ghouls
# Apr 23 2000 at 8:02 PM Rating: Decent
If the bones are between level 15 and 19, there's a lot of variation in them. The ones I've seen in Oasis are usually 18-19, and often come with another bone or ghoul in the neighbourhood. Even I as a level 25 mage can get in trouble with them -- if my pet is distracted with another, or if I hit it so hard that it ignores my pet. The ghouls are easier, and have as good or better loot -- I'd avoid the bones and stick to ghouls / others (lots in Oasis) unless you're so high level that you get no experience from the others.
hehe, these guys are tough

Loot for Dry Bones
# Mar 15 2000 at 5:42 AM Rating: Decent
The loot on these things differences per place as Bronze drops says but the ones in Unrest are much higher than the Oasis of marr and you can get ringmail boots, bronze armour and fs weapons for the ones in unrest the ones in Oasis seem to drop bronze weapons only. I don't know about the ones in Lake rathe.
