Day of Death: RAHOTEP

Has anyone thought to do a /time when seeing/fighting RAHOTEP? I have heard that he only spawns once an EQ year. If that is true, we only have to narrow down the day.

I was hunting dervishes at dervish camp 2 and I saw Rahotep among the confusion. I thought it was a mummy, as they had a tendance to walk over here and mess with us. All though Rahotep was red (level 12 Necromancer) I decided I'd try him anyway. Woohoo, my first brawl with a named enemy!

I sat down and memorized Ward Undead (which is a 41 damage DD at my level) and pulled him away with my Heat Blood spell. I thought it would be best, because after all, the tank had two thugs on them. I sent my pet out after Rahotep and Warded him as many times as I could. Then what I feared most happened.

Orimar's spell fizzles!
Orimar's spell fizzles!
Orimar's spell fizzles!
Insufficant mana to cast this spell!

Ah, crap! Rahotep's aggro went directly on me (287 damage is plenty to tick off Rahotep) and I equipped my agility equipment and started RUNNING with Gonaner punching away at Rahotep's back. Soon I began foaming at the mouth after Rahotep tapped me a few times. Finally, Heat Blood finished him off and I jumped in and looted the ring. I thought, this thing has awesome stats! and then I made a mistake by telling my group, "I looted a scarab ring off Rahotep." They decided to roll on it, I lost with a roll of 49 and the cleric got it with a roll of 63. After a while, he started auctioning the ring for 850pp.

But.. I feel weird now. I solo Rahotep, and I all I got was rabies? That's sort of sad.. :(

And Advisor robes can be found on my server for 800pp usually!!! >_<

You are the greedy punk mister anon. The group had nothing to contribute to the fight and they were prolly all halfway across the zone so they didnt get any exp either. I say ***** them greedy bastards for wanting to roll on and item they had no part in obtaining.

Agreed! You do nothing, you get nothing. As far as the "Never group with again" list, add me! I want no part of a greedy child that wants something for nothing. People like you are the primary reason so many players try to solo so much. So if you're on Saryrn, please add Terann, and Nueil to your "Never group with" list. Better yet, say who you are so we all can add you to the twit filter. (Odds are you're already there though if you play on Saryrn.)

You don't help kill, you don't help loot. That's how my groups work. I don't personally know of ANY groups that would be selfish enough to want to roll for something in that situation. There are the greedy few, I suppose, who would just HAVE to roll. Greed will get you left out when it's time to get the REAL loot, remember that.

I was running to Oasis to kill me some crocs. Saw this named mummy walking just south of Derv 3. Did a shout for some assistance so that I wouldnt die (was bound in NK). Took him to the scarab temple and my necro pal feared him. I have iceclaws so i hit pretty hard. By the time that fear wore off, he was turning arround to run like a lil girl. Less than a half a bbl of life and a Scarab ring later i was skipping jouyously out of the zone.

I got him too. I was a level 18 at the time and was bringing a fella to Oasis all the way from Faywder. He, was a level 14. I couldn't believe he had never traveled out of Faydwer. Anyhow, We were running down the Northern Desert Ro highway, and there Rahotep spawned. Not too far from the Pillar #13, If your looking at a map from eqatlas.com It's the pillar that stands at the edge of the sea. And just over the wadi overlooking the ruins.

I was walking nro one day (much like the rest of the people posting about this mummy) when i saw a mummy with a name so i started attacking him. A couple of pc's tried to ks him from me but i got the xp and looted his ring. For when i killed him he was walking from derv 2 area and i killed him next to the pillar on the other side of derv 3. Just to let you know where i killed him.
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 28 2001 at 8:35 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You'd be surprised but there are people like me who find value in items simply for the rareity of it. I personally would buy the sceptre of Rahotep simply to show that i came face to face with such a rare spawn. However I don't have that kind of money so i hunt these rare creatures. Rahotep is as far as i'm concerned a rare spawn. But while I'm on the subject of rare spawns I'd like to tell you all the secret of the carrion queen in FoB. I posted it in the zone info ages ago but many called me a liar and it was taken down. It is real NPC and drops carrion beetle leggings, stats are 12 ac 7 agi .1 weight. To make this npc spawn you must kill thousands of carrion shredders. Good luck all you legend hunters

Uhm, I think you lost your way there buddy - if you would "buy the sceptre" then all you're proving is that you went face to face with the person who killed Rah - if you bought it, you never met him any more than I won the Indy 500 if I'd met Dale Ernhart.

#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 09 2001 at 8:48 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) What is really sad is the fact that this guy is cutting into the original poster by making an analogy. The analogy is wrong. Dale never even ran in the Indy 500, much less won it. That's the Brickyard 400. One is Nascar (Dale), one is IRL (not Dale). It is raced on the same track. If you are gonna make someone look bad, try not to look stupid doing it. Race fans everywhere are offended. I agree though, buying the loot doesn't really mean jack.

Heard over OOC that Rahotep was walking about, so I ran around until I saw him. He was a bit north of derv 2, so I engaged him. He dropped the scarab ring. Shortly after he was dead, I saw another mummy out the corner of my eye. I turned, and saw that Rahotep had spawned again about 20 feet away. I engaged the 2nd Rahotep quickly. He also dropped a scarab ring.

I think that's like the only time Rahotep has spawned twice in a row like that in the same general location.

Don't believe me? Pop me a tell on Vazaelle and I'll show you the 2 rings in a trade screen myself. :)

Why not read prior threads before posting such questions. Price depends on server/economy. Have seen go for between 90 and 200 pp personally. 200 seems high end though.

I spent several levels in N Ro and Oasis, and spent A LOT of time looking for this guy. I always look via tracking (I'm a druid) and run along wall by derv 3 (since most people have seen him there).

Last night I just ran into him . . . literally. I checked tracking, but he did not show up despite being less than two feet from me(not sure why, tracking skill over 90 on a 27th level druid). Smacked him around and got the ring. People have said it sells for 75 to 100pp, which seems reasonable. I cant imagine it would sell for much more . . .

The point of this post is dont rely on tracking to find him. Unless my experience was odd, he doesn't show up.

a druid with tracking at 90 huh? I find that interesting since as a class its level maxes at 50. Rangers can go higher in this skill (to 200 in fact) but druids only go to 50 last i checked. I speak from the standpoint of alevel 22 druid who has been maxed out at 50 since level 20 when i first got tracking.

the only time i have seen him ( and i have been playing for over a year now ) was walking toward the ocean by derv 3. If you are Sitting in front of derv 3 looking at it, there is a pillar to your left, he was on the oasis side of that pillar walking to the ocean. He only dropped the ring and he went down real fast ( duh i was a 29 mage at the time ) i sold the ring for 200pp on luclin.

The Real Deal on Rahotep
# Oct 06 2000 at 10:14 PM Rating: Good
Ok. I have killed this guy twice. After reading the posts here I went onto my server (EMarr) and started messing around in NRo. Thought maybe I'd see him but from the talk about how rare he was didn't think I really would. I was fighting random stuff and he ran right in front of me and I quick when after him. Killed him and got the Sceptre. This was west of derv2. I was lvl 16 and a passing by enchanter helped me. (this was about sunset game time BTW) So ever since that night, whenever I am in NRo I check my track CONSTANTLY. I am a ranger so my track is awesome. So tonight I just hit lvl 18 and I was walking to tunnel, passing through NRo checking my track as usual when who spawns but Rahotep himself. Because I am almost positive my track caught him right as he spawned I think I got to him before he took his first step. He spawned on the far west wall inbetween the tunnel and derv3. I killed him with about a bubble and a half left of life. I only got the ring but from my experences and other people's post I gather that he is a truly random spawn and he spawns all over the zone. His lvl 16 above maybe right or maybe a lvl or so two low. He may be 17 really. All that I have said is true and anyone who says its not is a liar. Oh BTW I sold the Sceptre for 200pp and I'm gunna try and sell the ring for 100pp.

#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 16 2001 at 5:25 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) EQ ISNT an english class. All of you who think it is are stupid. And actually less than 1/4of the kids in the U.S are 10x stupider than a generation ago. Those are the kids of drug dealers and gang members(weird gangs with older people, mainly mentally retarded). And it is only about 1/4 of the parents that don't care. about 1/4 of this generation of kids is 10x SMARTER than last generation. That is because of GOOD parents and school. Anyways intellegence doesn't really matter when it comes to money. Have you ever seen the movie Billy Madison? Billy is a complete idiot that is 27 and can't spell rock(he spells it rok). He also has a million bucks. That is because previous people in his family made money, it could be from the lottery or a business, it doesn't matter. And it also shows that you don't even know the number system. It is $9 and something cents a month. And they could have gotten the computer from a friend or work, and for the internet connection, they might have a free companie like net zero.

Getting back to Norrathian reality here - More about the named Mummie Rahotep - I gather from the first fellow's posting that this may be an infrequent spawn (I'd consider Dorn a frequent). If so, has anyone exacted the spawn cycle for this critter? It seems that it must be darklight hours so far, but has anyone seen this thing at any other time? If so, when/where?

As a cleric I am intrigued at the prospect of someting I have a chance at slaying actually giving up some worthwhile item, usually that is reserved for the melee classes that I am healing, and they don't tend to share those items (which are usually 1hs or similar anyhow.

Any more pertinent information about this item and mob would be appreciated!!

BTW - mob, omw, oom, np, thx (all of which we use everyday in Norrath) are NOT proper english, so why don't the critics correcting people's grammar start using proper english during the game? Forgive the minor indiscretions of today and yesterday's youth. Would you rather they sell drugs on the street? or be involved in an invigorating pasttime such as EQ?

Interestingly enough, all of those ARE correct english. Let me explain...

Once, this was correct english: "Bat ye maest gae wit me true Thomas bat ye maest gae wit me. An til twenty dae hae come and gae True Thomas on ear is naever seen" -- ballad of True Thomas and Elf Queen

Note the strong difference from what we now consider 'correct' English. English itself is an amalgum of languages, much influenced by Lang D'Oc (predecessor to what we now consider German) and Lang D'oui (predecessor to what we now consider French). The earliest Fantasy was written in Lang D'Oc, which was the favorite language of Eleanor of Aquitaine. Try reading Bisclavret, in the Lais of Marie d' France. But I digress.

With the dawning of the information age we saw a greater influx of newer words and methods of spelling. No, I'm not talking about ebonics, but rather about netiquette, emoticons, l33t sp33k, etc.

What I'm trying to say is that English, like any language, constantly evolves to fit the needs of the populus and will change from decade to decade as each successive generation changes it to fit it's own needs.

There. And regarding Rahotep--

This was a long time ago (I've been gone for more than a year) but I used to use my tracking to try and find Rahotep for friends and never once was I able to see him/her/it on my list. But once, while checking my tracking, I did manage to get killed by him (not paying attention at L12). So I don't believe that he shows up on tracking.

See, the conversation WAS on topic. It just rambled first.

I was running arround N Ro, getting revenge on all the undead in the zone with my high level cleric. I think I killed all the undead in the zone. Finally, my sense undead picked up Rahotep. So it is quite possible you have to kill all the undead in the zone to make him pop. His common drop is the Scarab Ring (AC2, +2 to all saves), his uncommon is the Sceptre. I found him at the single glowing spire, just north of the dervish camp in the SW corner of the zone.
