Just meet him. I was a lvl 27 druid (26 after meeting him). I was picking on a griffawn cause I've never killed one and wanted the bragging rights. Well a bout the time the griffawn is running from me along comes Grimfeather. I didn't notice the name and just thought it was another griff helping out his friend. I was wrong :(
Saw him and he coned yellow to me a 35 druid. Knew nothing about him and I normaly am a research and learn person. well what the heck its a game lets have fun. I led with ensnare he resisted. I ran and he was on me lick a bumper sticker. I tryed to recast no deal. constant interupt. So i cast spirit if cheeta and he was still on me like a bumper sticker. O well I had fun!
druids terrorize works fine on grim...he doesnt have heaps of hp's just snare fear and treat him like any other griffon...just give him a bit more respect and he is easy
At 37 he should be taken easily by any druid at 36 or above solo. Never forget the Terrorize animal line of spells, which makes any griffon Puty in your hands.
Ok, a lvl 40 druid can do this with less than a full bar of mana and 164 wisdom. First: Snare him...this is the most important part Second: Run for a while (make sure you half greater wolf-form on). Third: Start trying to cast Firestrike...If he's out of range keep mashing the button till you start casting. Fourth: As soon as the spell hits, run, he'll wack you once or twice before you can go, but only for a max of about 140 damage (more like 40 or so)
Repeat steps 2-4 until dead. He may be fast, but he doesn't have many hit points.
For druids, there is an easier way that will keep Grim from being able to touch you if he doesn't resist snare. Snare until it sticks, fear until it sticks, then DoT. Sit and med. When fear breaks, refear. When the DoT wears off re-DoT. Wash, Rinse, Repeat. With this method, and at 160 wisdom, you can solo Grimfeather with two bubbles of mana or less. I wouldn't recommend trying this until Grim cons yellow to you, but it is extremely effective and easy. :)
Tried using Snare and Firestrike on GrimFeather, but he kept kicking my ***. Just after Firestrike hits, he's on you. Had to flee for the zone. Tried a different approach the next time. Snared him and then rooted him (90 damage on root) and then dotted him (340 on dot). Sat down while the dot took affect. Used about 2 - 2 1/2 bubs of mana this way. Killed him 3 times in a row. The Fear is good, but the root at least hits him for some damage while the dot is taking affect. Root usually lasted the entire minute
I found him wandering the lands so I thought I might take a shot at him. I rooted him and blasted him for a bit. He broke the root and chased me down with ease, I had SoW on. Hittin for around 60-70. So I rooted him again and blasted him. Killed him with 50% mana and 75% health. Of course I'm lvl 51 Druid. I got exp too.
I had to log out at the guard tower in NK to do some quick research on a quest item i'd just found. Logged back in to find grimmy kicking the guards asses. I had sow on and ran past the guards, out of the tower, hoping grim wouldn't notice. no such luck. He came after me and i was amazed that i snared him (I am 31), and i managed to out run him to the stone bridge. Very nasty.
Larreth(Lvl. 41 druid) almost killed Grimfeather, when another griffon started helping Grimfeather. We had to zone. I(Lvl 21 shaman) was healing Larreth while Sheae(lvl 25 bard) sang healing song.
Grimfeather is faster than Cheetah - he ran me down like I was in Molasses - and he's run me down in wolfform - he must like the taste of druids hehehehe
The other night a druid complained about Grimfeather running him down even though he cast Spirit of Cheetah. I had always heard that Grim was faster than SOW but I didn't think any Mob was faster than the Cheetah.
He "almost cheetah speed" in that he is FASTER than cheetah. However, when snared, he is slower than SOW. When snared, he is exactly as fast as an unsnared griffon...I found this out the other day when I picked up an extra griffon while kiting grim.
Grimfeather also has a super rare drop of a + strength helm. I think it is called a Griffon Helm not totally sure though. Its a very decent helm stat wise like ac 10 +9 str +5 agi or something like that. I think another named griff drops this rarely too.
I saw him when my guild (some of us me a lv 12 Druid at the time)teled to NK just to hang out and enjoy the experience(not points) I also saw a couple Hill Giants and some ''A Druid''s i'm not sure if they could take out the Hill Giants(The Druids) could anyone let me know if they kill Hill Giants?
I've never seen them kill an HG but I saw one solo Grimfeather last night and take him down in less than 30 seconds...we were KS'd before we even had time to cast once on him =P
