Griffenne Charms
# Mar 07 2001 at 1:22 PM Rating: Excellent
By my reckoning the Griffenne Charm is a rare drop item and the Griffenne Feather only an uncomon drop. I say this because I have just had to kill seventeen of the buggers before I saw a charm and, in the process of doing this, came up with six feathers.

Kind of annoting when that happens.
Wrong level range

Was heading through NK going to EK for the Beholder's Lair, and me and my buddy druid saw this guy and said it would be cool to kill a Griffenne, and we would have too if he haddn't been surrounded by a couple other Griffons, but the point is he con'd white to me at lvl 23, so they need to lower the level a bit. :P good hunting!

I agree. I was heading to the bar in northwest NK to sell off when I ran past a Griffenne. It conned dangerous blue to me. I am a level 24 druid. I killed it. Nice loot.

See Invis.

Unlike their Griffawn and Griffon cousins, I noticed that these fellows can see invis.
RE: See Invis.
# Sep 30 2001 at 8:00 AM Rating: Good
Being a dumb wizard with Invis and sow I have bonked these on the head, and lived, more than once. Mostly just in spite since before i had invis they killed me every time I was ported into NK. Since with Invis I can walk past all the griffins in NK with no problem I would say they do not see thru wizard invis or I was blessed from above every time i do it. I almost do it every time i run thru NK now.
They are on my black list to kill once i get a few more levels under my belt.

hmmm i can just hear the messages coming now lol

Do you mean that they actually attack you when you are invis? The /con attitude is irrelevant in this case, because I believe they are always KOS to everyone (like hill giants) so whether they see you or not, it will say "scowling."
RE: See Invis.
# Aug 22 2000 at 3:37 PM Rating: Decent
I think you got that backwards... Griffons can see through invis, and griffenes do not. I think it has to do with their level (a lot of high level mobs can see through invis)
RE: See Invis.

I came across a griffene who saw through my superior camo. It didn't attack me, but I was some distance from it too. It was "scowling" at me while I was invis when I con'd it. Maybe it's a bug... kind of like the bug in Oasis whereby indifferent deepwater crocs and caimans "scowl ready to attack" all the time. I didn't get close enough to find out... I'm only level 19 ;)

Standard line of text.. not a bug..

Griffons do NOT see through invis - I always med invisible and they fly right past me.

some times when a critter is killed and not looted, an item will remain on the ground after the critter's corpse rots

After you fear the mob (when you sit down to med), start counting at a regular pace. When fear wears off, just count to that same number minus X (X depends on how fast you count, but should be about 2 seconds). This gives you just enough time to stand up and reapply fear (terrorize) without having to move.
when to resnare
# Jun 20 2000 at 2:16 AM Rating: Decent
Creeping Crud doesn't last quite as long as snare. So if you open with snare then immediately cast Creeping Crud, when CC wears off you know it is time to reapply the snare.
Good for druids also
# May 01 2000 at 7:29 PM Rating: Decent
A good technique I've found for you druids out there is to snare, fear (terrorize, actually), and DOT, then sit down and meditate. Keep all spells active, meditating in between casts, and you'll be soloing these things easily with plenty of mana left. Note that things get exciting if fear and snare both expire at the same time. At level 26 I can kill yellows with half my mana left. :)
Soloing
# Mar 16 2000 at 5:29 PM Rating: Decent
Well, as a wizard I started soloing them when they were yellow/red to me... approximately level 22... SoW is a necessity of course. If your first bolt gets resisted, time to RUN! Great XP as well!
Can you(bard) solo at level 21?
# Mar 09 2000 at 8:10 AM Rating: Decent
WHOO, when I was 21 bard and can solo with Griffene but that depend on their level. You need SoW and Bellow song OR Selo's Acceleration and Bellow song (twisting). But it took me finish him for 25 minutes or so. So have fun if you are over 21 level. But sometimes resist to your song at 21, if so take it to guards to save your life. :P

I started fighting them about that level (very red to me I might add!) With pet Pet and I. After the fight Pet was down to 4% Hp I was oom and had less then 1/2 a bub of health left... But boy what a rush.

I find griffenne blood quite a bit...but I haven't been able to figure out what it's for?
Griffenne blood
# Oct 28 2000 at 2:54 AM Rating: Default
Griffenne blood is one of the components needed for the Royal Temper which is one of the ingredients of Human cultural arms and armor smithed at the Qeynos Royal Forge.

Who knows, maybe someone on your server actually wants it. You might not get more than a few pp for it auctioning it off in EC, but that's better than nothing.

# Nov 11 2000 at 7:28 AM Rating: Default
Grrr.... Not one charm dropped in 3 hours there, one thing of blood, rest some odd Feather.
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Saw some griffenes lvl 23 and 24.
Griffenne Downfeather
# Feb 17 2000 at 10:46 AM Rating: Decent
These also drop the Griffenne Downfeather, which like the charm is no drop and lore. It is used for a Shaman Quest armor, and drops more often than the charm. These also can drop nice gems, words, runes, and can drop a couple plat in cash (or under 1 gp), as well as griffon feathers worth about six gold. Kill Griffawns to get them to spawn.
