Two of these guard the gate to Ashengate.
On death: Guardian of the Gate's corpse teeters for a moment before crashing onto its back, sending small fragments of its obsidian body flying in all directions.
Im a 67 SK, I FD pulled right Guardian to cliff, my ranger buddy then rooted right guardian as they were returning to gate, this seperate them and once that was accomplished they were easy to kill. Looted Guardian Core for Charm of Lore quest, then killed them again to take screenshots.
Mez and mem blur. Easy peasy. Baffle rk 2. Dunno if anything else works. Probably.

I missed most of this expac (quit after OOW returned for SoF) and leveled with friends mostly in SoF. As a level 85 war, group geared with T3SoD/OMM/UF mix, I thought these lb mobs would be ok with me and cleric merc.
Wow, i got suprised in a bad way. I pulled with an arrow and was immediately summoned. The cleric ran in to heal me and was nearly 1 rounded by the second guardian. I AE taunt&cycloned to get off the cleric then the ping pong summoning started ... one instant gate pot later, i was at <10% and merc was dead.
All you need to do is head off to one side and move behind one of them very carefully. I was able to slip through the gate with no problems at all. Keep sneak and hide up as there is a wanderer just beyond the gate.
Successfully boxed with a RL friend: 75 Monk 75 Cleric 75 Druid 75 Mage 75 Enchanter 70 Shaman
All characters are non raiding toons... Monk was the tank having 13600 Hitpoints with 2018 AC max hit was 3340 low's in the 500's... These guys hit fast though and flurry makes the DPS seem insane... With our set-up I had a hard time keeping the dual heals rolling in to keep the monk up... Cleric and Druid have around 10400 mana buffed and dam near run out by end of fight because heals have to be continual..
This mob does enrage also and you will go down before you can blink if not ready for it... 205,000 hitpoints seems about right to me.. Our DPS was just enough to take him out before healers ran out of mana.. This guy wiped us 4 times to our 1 win.. He is slightly above our abilities atm but was great fun at least killing him once for the charm drop.. We have 5 more kills to go..!!
** Now that we discovered the abilities of the "Campfires" we used the Hitpoint booster and the monk went to 15100 Hitpoints which made a lot of difference.. We take these down now every other time but still come close to OOM on the healers at 10500 mana pool and maxed healing abilities and mana pres. VI
These have approximately 205khp each. On a 15% shielding warrior, hit range showed 920 to about 3150. With defensive max was 2060.
These hit very fast, even once slowed. They quad and bash for 500-1k. DPS on a 3.2kac warrior with defensive running was about 1000. Average hit was pretty low, about 1.3k, but the hits were so fast that dps piled up.
Repop time is the same as all other Direwind mobs.
Edit: next kill, approx 190khp and 700dps. Maybe spawned as different level. Either way, bring 2 healers minimum.
You can get yourself through by kiting them to the far end of the valley (by the dropoff) and then running back to Ashengate while they trail you. They lose aggro after a fairly short distance so you really don't have to train anyone either since they usually lose aggro right at the gate (as you reach the steps to AG) if you do it right.
I did have one summon me ONE time out of the half dozen I've done this - it seems like maybe they summon if you let them get within a certain range of you but that's just a guess.
