Several of these griffons surround Zhubis the Griffon Trainer. They are not KOS, but will assist other mobs in the zone.

To charm or not to charm?

These make mean enchanter pets. Even with the damage output penalty for charmed pets, the level 69 version of this mob can spam out hits for 1234, which means enchanters can get in here and charm one of these at level 70 with "True Name" (which can charm up to level 69). The problem is that when charm breaks you might be in a world of hurt, particularly if you were brave enough to to cast haste on it. It can summon you, smack you around for 2000+ per hit, and drop you very quickly. Even with the risk though, you might decide it's worth a try. The exp can be quite good, but I'd suggest bringing a healer and a tank to help you just in case.
