You have to Beat on the Nests until they break open. Not sure if Blunt weapons work better than Slashing or peircing .. but my Zerker lvl 54 with his epic can break them open. Takes lots of hacking cause you miss so much. But once the nest is open they do agro. I tried a few Spells on my druyid also to hit the nest but the nests resist alot .. never had one do any damage. Druid is lvl 55. I hope this helps you

I recently went back, accidentally targeted a nest, and hit it. My monk (using h2h) would make contact maybe 1/20 strikes. (Before I don't even remember seeing actual melee spam when trying.) Anyhow, my shammy's marrowfall proc'd a few times and killed the nest.
The interesting thing is that the "large normal harpy nests" on level 3 would always tell me I was too far away. The smaller ones on that level (which spawn "a harpy") worked fine. *shrug*

How do you agro these? I see them inside the nests, sometimes with a griffon. I can target them, but I cannot hit them, etc. I also can't seem to hurt the nests. Are they part of some sort of event? or quest?
