This spawn seems to be somewhat bugged. I just set up at the camp and went to pull GJ. Pull was no prob and I was prepped for 2-4 pups with the named. However, just after war hit AE taunt and that cyclone attck, 6 more pups hit us. We had GJ and 8 pups total in camp - way too much for no chanter/bard.

After the wipe/rez, I went back and found that the pups had been trained to the zoneline and were still up. Aggroed GJ to check, and sure enough, the 2 with him, the 8 from the zone line, and 2 more spawned all after me ... Needless to say, I left the camp.

Evidently there's some variability in GJ's spawn. Killed him this morning and only two pups added. Also GJ spawned a bit closer to the fort than I've seen him do before so he has more than one possible spawn point.

The soundest strat is to pull GJ and pups and get them all snared. Then clear aggro. At that point have the tank tag GJ and reel him in. Since GJ and pups are snared, this gives plenty of time for the pups to be mezzed and/or rooted on incoming.

For my warrior, a HP (1800) campfire made all the difference in surviving GJ's dps.

Grimjaw spawns with 2 pups but seems to rapidly "gestate" 2 more during the fight. Definitely need a mezzer for this and a tank who's very capable of holding aoe aggro, at least until the mezzes kick in.

The pups are rootable, snareable and mezzable. GJ is rootable and snarable. You can definitely split GJ from the pups and even get her single to camp on the pull. But don't pat yourself on the back. GJ WILL summon the four pups to the fight, and at the worst possible time it always seems. Prep for this fight as a 5-pull or you won't likely win it.

The pups are definitely linked to GJ but it's buggy. I've seen situations where a pup got isolated from GJ and could be fought separately. But it will immediately either respawn back at the spawn point or be re-summoned into the fight with GJ. One time a pup got stuck at the Vald zone. My enchanter, who had zoned to clear aggro, came back to mez the pup so we could rez. GJ had returned to the spawn point but once the pup reacquired aggro onto my enchanter, GJ re-aggro'd onto her from a great distance. So definitely some form of buggy linked aggro at work.

GJ would be an easy fight without the pups. Alas, that's not possible.

I pulled this for my group a couple weeks ago. Snare Grimjaw, and then let the two pups come to you. Mez the pups, then kill Grimjaw. Kill the pups accordingly. Pretty easy fight, just get him slowed and keep the tank up.

Tried this guy tonight (10/8/06) and he had 2 "a dire wolf pup" following him around. We were ready for those Grimjaw and bringing him to camp 2 more "a dire wolf pup" 's popped and caught us off guard. Marked him off as for another day hehe.

Got a guild group together last night and killed Grimjaw after completing the caster familiar quest. Was not an easy fight. Me, Cleric, and Druid ended fight with no mana. Paladin came close to dieing a few times.

Group was a range of 69-71.

1 Cleric 71, 1 Druid 70, 1 Monk 69, 1 Paladin 71, 1 Berseker 70, and me 70 Enchanter.

From what i saw hit in the 3k's. Enraged at 10%.
